05/31 2012 'American Idol’ notes: Phillip Phillips, Adam Lambert, and Jessica Sanchez
We have quite a bit to talk about yet again in our Thursday morning edition of “American Idol” notes, with the biggest headline at the moment being the return of a coronation song to the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100
Adam makes his own debut – This week, Adam Lambert also has a chart accomplishment — new single “Never Close Our Eyes” has entered the top 40 on the Hot AC chart for the first time.
Currently, the song is sitting at #38 on the chart, and is gaining enough spins to provide some hope that it will continue to climb in the weeks ahead. This is the second single from “Trespassing” to appear on this chart after “Better Than I Know Myself,” and he is one of many “Idol” stars currently on the rise — Carrie Underwood’s “Good Girl” is near the top 20, and Kris Allen (with “The Vision of Love”) and Haley Reinhart (with “Free”) are hovering around the top 30 of the chart at the moment.
Now you tell me there isn't a gay bias. kris Allen and Haley in the Top 30 above Adam. My blood pressure is gonna be off the charts.

Ummm, Haley and Kris singles have been out longer and they will be falling soon, especially Kris. Actually they are sitting at 31 & 32. Really, I wouldn't worry about Kris or Haley.

Kris and Haley are probably not going to get much higher---and their songs have been out a long time. They have gotten the exact same treatment from radio that Adam has.

That reasoning is pretty far-fetched! So, hundreds of radio stations got together on some giant conference call to plot out a way to build the gay guy up so they could knock him down on the next era? BTW, the top artists in other countries are not always from the US, nor are they the same as in the US. Look at the Top 10 iTunes album chart from multiple countries around the world: www.apple.com/euro/itunes/charts/top10albums.htmlAs you can see, every country varies on the artists they currently have in their Top 10 albums. Yes it is easy for them to get together since they are owned by the same 5 or 6 firms. You need to tell me how radio knows when to pull a plug on a song for example. I have noticed when a song starts peaking for instance, several radio stations pull the plug almost at the same time. There must be an agreement among them as to how high or low a song must go and they work to accomplish that. Every coglomerate has board meetings especially one where the corporates decide what get done and that is very basic economy 101. Secondly can you pull out how many foreign artists not from Britain there are charting in the US despite their popularity in their own regions? You would see American artists all over every country chart than you would see their own no.1 charting star on an American music chart. Bringing up the album chart is twisting the discussion a bit in my opinion since artists not named Adele generally sell singles heard on the radio than an album. Why not link to the singles sale charts instead? And this is another article that might interest you. Note this is one of Adams Primary markets in fye era and his album recently debuted top 10 there from his existing fan base since he is presently not enjoying radio support there: www.auspop.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/adam-lambert-never-close-our-eyes.html Here you go: www.apple.com/euro/itunes/charts/top10songs.htmlAs you can see, the same thing holds true on the single's chart. The top 10 in the US are not the same in other countries. It also looks like, here lately, artists from Canada and the UK are the ones who are controlling the charts around the world. The US does not dictate what gets played in the rest of the world. Songs from Carly Jae, Gotye, One Direction and now Alex Cross were big in other parts of the world before the US started playing them. What is this article? Some random article from a website in Australia? This doesn't tell me anything or prove a thing.

Wow. I'm not sure I'd call this "Doom & Gloom" though. Frankly I found it pretty damn interesting.
The bottom line is we can flail over all the good stuff that's happening (and there is a LOT of that right now) but it's important to face the reality that he has a huge struggle with radio support. And without some success on radio we will not have all the concerts, interviews, videos, photos, etc to flail over. So hiding our heads in the sand about the dark side is not realistic imo.
But where is he struggling more than say Kris, Haley, James or even Daughtry? I don't get it. I find the numbers interesting too but my question is where do these posters get their knowledge from? Are they radio insiders or are they merely fans speculating? Because a fan speculating without facts can cause a lot of angst and worry by seeming to have inside information that they just don't have. If I'm going to rely on someone's expertise I want to know what qualifies them to be an expert?

How are we "creating doom and gloom?" We aren't speculating on the facts, just the reasons. The numbers themselves are real. The chart position and sales of the album are real. The radio spins and adds are real. It is wonderful to celebrate the success, and there is a lot to celebrate. But there are also legitimate questions regarding how this awesome album is going to manage to stay on the chart and keep selling. I like this thread because it provides a balance and a reality check. And I guess, when I don't understand something, I like to try to figure it out, and I love hearing other people's theories and ideas. sorry didn't mean to offend you it's just that we can speculate all we want regarding the reasons but we will never really know. Until he writes his memoir anyway. I guess this thread makes me feel bad for Adam when I would rather dwell on the good things happening for him.

It is not "doom and gloom," just people trying to make sense of a rather confusing situation. At this point, a pattern has emerged, and since we have no inside info really, there is only speculation. On another note, maybe we can drop the Stefano comparison. I don't care if he got a couple more adds, his song is not going to do much. I will be SHOCKED if Stefano gets anywhere on CHR. So if there can only be speculation on why radio isn't playing NCOE more aren't we just creating doom and gloom? Adam is successful, will be even more successful, no matter how long it takes. He will be iconic. Yes he will. Yes Adam is successful for now, but from what I know following, he wants to maintain his success and wants to more successful. Can anyone remember what he said in his last Rolling Stone article? He is an ambitious man that wants to make it in the music industry. This is why he is working so hard and taking on as many radio gigs as possible just to be on the radio. He has said he wants just smash hit he believes would change everything for him. Just yesterday in Canada, he was reluntact at first to play the Queen's songs play because he said he has his own album to promote and is ever quick to correct anyone that calls him the new Queen frontman that it is only a gig he is honoured to do as his priority is his own singing career. He knows the importance of radio. Read his new twitter profile if in doubt. Without radio, his popularity would fizzle away including the concerts fans are talking about. Only the established acts can do without radio and even used radio to build up that kind of longevity and career.
