The BBC interviewed the Olympic Closing Ceremony Creative Director Kim Gavin: Mr Gavin added: "Music has been Britain's strongest cultural export of the last 50 years and we intend to produce an Olympic closing ceremony that will be a unique promotion of great British popular music. "For the closing ceremony we will not only be working with our most globally successful musicians, but we also want to use this opportunity to showcase our stars of tomorrow." They don't say the musicians have to be British. Only that British music will be showcased. And AFL is no doubt a "star of tomorrow." Adam can't confirm this because only a few artists have been confirmed so far. IMHO He said OUR - means British

IMO, too much potential backlash if Adam were to perform with Queen at the Olympics. Backlash from Queen fans who don't want to see Adam performing as Queen (because it wouldn't be "Queen with Adam Lambert") at something this big. And backlash from the British people who would be watching an American (and one off a reality show at that) spotlighted in their Olympics---because while he would be performing as a part of Queen, the lead singer always gets the most attention. Backlash, schmacklash. Who cares if some disgruntled Freddie fans jump on Twitter and bash Adam? Or a few Brits get their knickers in a twist? Their grumbling is not going to affect Adam at all. But the millions of people who would see him and say, "Wow! That guy can really sing!" can add sales and put Trespassing back on top of the charts. You have to weigh the positive with the negative, and in my opinion, the negative is helium compared to the positive.
I'm not getting my hopes up too high, but I think it would be a wonderful thing to happen for Adam.

Claymates did it to him back in the day by sending ridiculous shit to DJs and PDs and then bitching and moaning that he wasn't getting played. IMO if you weren't listening to Top 40 radio before Adam then don't listen to it now. Do what you always did and radio WILL take care of itself.

Not only that but there has never been a requirement that only people from one country can join together to for a band. A lot of "British" bands have "Irish" members etc. and by the way doesn't anyone remember that even Freddie wasn't originally British as he was born and raised in Zanzibar went to boarding school in India (?) and didn't become British until they moved to England in his late teens I think.

I have to agree with you here, murley. I haven't really expressed any opinions about Adam performing with Queen at the closing ceremonies yet. I've read others that are pro and con and sometimes agree with both...lol! My question is: Out of all the perfomers/bands that will be there, will ALL the members be British? If a British band has a long standing member that is not British, does that disqualify them from performing? I realize that no one probably knows the answer to this, but had to ask anyway. Also, I do know that the Olympics are being hosted by the UK....but....it isn't really THEIR Olympics, is it? I mean, they are hosting, but aren't the Olympics EVERYONES? Like, the whole worlds?? I do get why they are showcasing the British talent, etc. I guess I find it hard to believe that every person performing will be British. I could be very wrong, wouldn't be the first time. I guess time will tell. I would love for Adam to be there with Queen. I'm sure Queen would love it too, especially after doing 6 shows with him, they will have everything honed to perfection. And, wouldn't Queen want the BEST vocalist singing with them for such an important gig? But, it may be out of their hands too. LOL!! I'm just rambling on here, aren't I? But, if I don't say what I think now, I'll pass on by and never say it. 8-) Oh, and though I somewhat understand it, I don't really care what the disgruntled Freddie fans think about it. They'll just have to get over it!! JMO
