I know! It's clearly his voice.. so unmistakeable and evident with headphones. I know, he sounds gorgeous and the voice is so crystal clear. And yet there are people saying that "whatever they did" to his voice ruins the song as does "all the autotune"?! ??? Surely we can't all be listening to the same song? I am taking a risk at posting before reading the whole thread. Forgive me if it has all been settled. Disregarding the fact that this was ripped from the CD, it is, without a doubt, 200% Adam's voice. Don't you love how he can change it up? The reason it doesn't sound like what we are used to is that Adam floats the notes in his head voice without incorporating much of any chest resonance. Then, he adds just a bit of a breathy sound. Someone said it sounds like Sade, and I can hear that. And a little MJ, a little Bruno. As for autotune, just possibly for effect on some of the ooohs, and ahhhs. But not willing to swear on that. For those who say this doesn't sound like Adam, I refer you to the opening lines of "If I Can't Have You" on Idol. Same technique, same sound. If this has all been settled, just scroll past. |

I'm linking to their rendition of The Show Must Go on. www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0sViAbmgkwI actually really like Marc Martel's voice, it sounds incredibly like Freddie, so a perfect pick for the tribute band. What I realize is that a) he has zero stage presence and b) most importantly, his vocals don't convey the lyrics/emotion of the songs. They all have a similar dynamic to them, even when he sings the proper notes. I guess that's the it factor missing. And I'm not jumping on him, like I said, I really like the tone of his voice as it is the closest - tone-wise - that I've ever heard to Freddie. No need to be negative or compare him to Adam, it just proves how hard it is to convey something as elusive as star power. In any case, look at this crowd! They're all sitting down - it's not dinner theatre folks! Agree with you - no soul. |

I don't think BTR is filler, I could easily see it in Chokehold's place in fact. Yes, totally!!! I am on 12th listen, ;D, let's all of go visit Gelly and her island hang outs  This!! Those tropical images were perfect with the vibe. I am enjoying the song a lot. It's a totally different groove and don't think it really fits on Trespassing, but still so atmospheric. I really don't get the "Chokehold" connection and absolutely wouldn't want it in place of "Chokehold," which I love to death. Few people have said JT, but this light, high voice really reminds me of Timberlake, especially in "Cry Me a River." |
