Obviously none of us know exactly what RCA expected, but considering what have to be high production and promotional costs already expended, I can't imagine they are pleased with the sales numbers of the album, nor the track downloads of the singles, nor the radio airplay to this point. Maybe something will happen to change the trajectory of one or more of those items, but there is not any evidence of that happening yet. IMO a third single is not at all assured at this point. How do we know what the production or promotion costs are versus other artists? We don't! How do we know what RCA is thinking about the overall worldwide sales numbers thus far for Trespassing, the singles and the mvs? We don't! We do know that Trespassing was the #1 album in the US and several other countries and that RCA is still scheduling international promo and radio concerts in the US. They show no signs of pulling back on their support for this album era that is all of three weeks old! We also know that the RCA radio execs told radio stations that there were several songs on this album that would be released as singles. RCA execs were also quoted in several media articles, saying that they were fully committed to this era and were treating Adam and TSP like a new artist launch. We also know that NCOE is getting some good adds and spins from some of the top markets and that the AI on both HAC and CHR is excellent for its position on the charts. There are several positives and encouraging signs for a single that is one week past the official impact date. Lastly, we know that Trespassing is following the general percentage drops that most albums follow. These typical drops do not predict doom and gloom for Trespassing, anymore than they do for artists like Kelly Clarkson. I'd rather focus on what we do know from RCA and about this album era, instead of trying to guess and pull things out of the air about what the label is thinking at this time!

Myspense... We still do Q102 requesting 10 at 10 since it was an auto add. Keep it on the radar. Right?
Still whack a mole in Chicago to keep up the spins? Now I have to get onto Atlanta, in addition to these others.
If he was higher in itunes sales for the single, he would get more spins?

Undoubtedly he would be getting more spins if the song was sitting up there on iTunes. But, that's not going to be the deal with this song, so I guess we keep doing what we've been doing.

They seem committed to expanding his fanbase beyond the Idol box that has stalled so many of the Idol artists. How many have started out great and then after the first album, they seem to drop into a void and dwindle away. I appreciate that they are breaking him internationally as well. 8-)

I agree, but don't see the point of considering 3rd, 4th, 5th singles when ncoe hasn't yet made it on radio. If radio won't play ncoe, it won't play Cuckoo. Ncoe's failure would be a sign of a deeper problem, but there's no need to go there before we know more. ncoe is just starting and as you say no one yet knows how it'll do. I also don't believe that rca will pull support; this is a very well reviewed album, and they have more than the US market to consider. If US radio won't play Adam, they might change their strategy here, spend more time promoting him abroad, I don't know. I'm sure they'll be smart about it. The album is doing very well, considering that it was released without a lead single, after Adam spent nearly two years off radio and off major media. I doubt that the label expected higher sales.

I put a mediabase request into that Greensboro radio station that just added. But, Winston Salem is a long way off and to hear the station clearly I have to be on top of a hill traveling in the right direction!
Will they disregard my request as out of area?
