Has there been a performance this era where we HAVEN'T seen him gesturing madly to the soundman? (I couldn't hear the backup singers either....) Can you just imagine the reputation Adam is getting amongst members of the International League of Professional Sound Guys? Their happy smiles when they get a call letting them know about an assignment quickly turn to ashen-faced terror when they hear it's for Adam. They huddle in nervous little groups at their conferences sharing horror stories about their gigs with him. Working for Adam will be like a rite of passage. A trial by fire. A hazing. Anyone who makes it more than 3 concerts is held in awe....
OMG this is so funny. Do you think Adam works out hand signals beforehand with the sound crew? Maybe the hand signs are universal. In any case, I thought the band and Adam sounded very good together considering the time they had to pull this off. The band isn't going to be all animated -- they were there to get it as close to right as possible. It just amazes me that a group of people show up, plug in, and then perform at RAH for cryin' out loud with the amt of practice (none) they had together. That, I'm sure, takes years of experience. I'm so glad they pulled it off!

I'm not basing my assessment of his "bantering" on the RAH concert, that was only 3 songs. I'm thinking of his last tour (like when he introduced the acoustic set/Aftermath) And it's not meant to be a put-down. It just doesn't feel comfortable to me. And he isn't bad---I never said that. Just, I have been to some concerts where the singers were really good at it. But honestly, it isn't a big deal. This is Adam Lambert, I would much rather have him excel at the singing. Which he does. Always. For those concerts where the singers were good at banter - how many times did you go to the "same" concert? I mean, I went to seven GNTs and saw EVERY one of the 123 GNT concerts on YT. repeatedly. So I would venture to say that if I heard the same banter theme about a thousand times - it might've started sounding a little repetitive... ... not that it happened to me

I thought P!NK's banter at her LA show as sooo good and so personal for LA! UNTIL, I bought her DVD of her Australia concerts. Her banter was exactly the same, right down to "forgetting" the lyrics for one of the acoustic songs!

I did notice that nica (his feet trying to get the beat.) I thought out of everyone in this temporary band, it was the drums that were lacking the most. I missed Isaac. Yes, I know it could be the videos, but so far the drums sound flat or something ( I don't know how to describe it) in the vids of 2 different videographers. But as was mentioned, only we diehards would notice. There were a few times during NCOE that he faced the drummer, one time gesturing with his arm raised to the beat, and I thought it might be to guide the drummer. Adam has always complimented Isaac on being in the pocket..

Man, I'm sorry I said anything. I forgot, Adam is perfect at everything.
And, yes, if not always live, I have watched bits and pieces of some of my favorite artists performing the same concerts.

And I have told stories about people new to Adam remarking about how his banter really felt personally relatablel and fresh to them. Really, folks, we are the faithful, the cray, the critical-- We love him but we have to remember we are NOT the normal audience.

Unscripted. Then she went to a second concert and the "banter" was just about word for word as the first! ETA: Haha - guess it was Mys*&@^#r I remembered!!! ;D

LOL I read they were great, but haven't seen anything about "showing up" the US band. I think pro musicians are trained to do what they did... so not surprising at all. They were good but I don't think they showed up anyone. Hard to tell with the quality of the videos, but from what I saw, I'd say Isaac, Brian, Ashley, Tommy and the VJJ's have nothing to worry about. And why, even in RAH does Adam still have sound problems!! He was directing that soundman the entire set! :-/ I think it could be the perfectionistic streak that Adam has. At some point, he might have to let go of that control a little when it comes to live settings, especially when it is a short set. Sometimes every little thing being perfect just isn't going to happen 100% of the time, especially when it comes to these types of radio shows. It's probably good to do a few signals to the sound guy during the first song but there is a point where you just have to let go or it could end up distracting from the overall performance.

We're all relating our own perspectives. Think of it this way-- you started a conversation!
