My children are adopted from Russia too and the orphanage situation and especially the prospects for children leaving the system there are the same as in the Ukraine. A culture that still uses the word 'orphan' as a swear word and establishes cultural and social networks based on the group of children you went to school with, thereby making it almost impossible for orphans to break into the regular society, job market or have normal lives outside the outcast culture (i.e. find a partner who is not from same circumstance, get married, have family, etc). Girls usually get picked up by pimps and boys drift into gangs and other criminal networks and often end up in military where they are at the bottom of the rank list and often get hazed and abused. Talking about abuse, while this whole football championship is going on and Elton John and Queen + AL will have their concert there, the government of Ukraine is presently busy pushing the same anti-gay laws through their system that now govern St. Petersburg. As best I know the law will not be passed by the time of the concert, but rather once the eyes of the public are again turned away from Ukraine. audreyellardwalsh.wordpress.com/2012/06/01/gay-rights-under-further-threat-in-the-ukraine/"....recommendations to the Ukrainian Parliament to adopt a bill (law initiative # 8711), which would effectively limit the freedom of speech of mass media and criminalise LGBTI human rights work in the Ukraine. The proposed legislation seeks to strengthen pre-existing “public morality laws” and essentially make it illegal to express gay or lesbian sentiment in public. Breach of the law would be punishable by fines or prison sentences of up to five years." Allout.org and other organizations are having signature initiatives to protest against these laws, if you want to help out with your voice. Voices like Adam's will be shut out of Ukraine, if this law ever passes. Sorry for this critical and sad post, but it is important to know that while the government tries to look open and friendly by inviting artists like these to the games, what is happening in the background is anything but such. Just thought you'd ought to know what is happening over there. Whenever I get totally fed up with our government,I will re-read this.

Here is the email I received after her first listen - subject "Chore Day": "Every few weeks I select a few CDs, and commence the dreaded house cleaning chores. Today, I listened to Trespassing, and with first few bars, I had to put the broom down and listen to the entire CD. You know Adam well, so this may not be news to you, but I was taken on how personal the CD is, incredibly revealing. Then, I was amazed at how different his experience is from mine, yet Trespassing reminded me of my first visit to San Luis Obispo County. No matter where I went, work, drug store, movie, strangers would say to me "you are not from around here are you" or "where are you from". For a big city girl, it was the strangest thing to me. That goes back 15 years go, and to this day, I still get asked similar versions of those questions. Anyway, I know Adam mostly through his incredible fans, I hope they like the CD and it sells millions. We received about 30 CDs for the Sister Soldiers and sent half off already. I have enough stuff to ship about 20 packages, the last for the Project. Hope you are having a fantastic weekend. ____________________________________________ Anyway, thought I would share this heartfelt story from a very amazing person, and also share the fact that this project, which served so many women in remote areas of the Middle East, is ending with "unsolicited" Trespassing CDs in the last boxes - and those CDs came from wonderful people like all of you. Much love to all.

I think Adele possesses a remarkable intuition, artistry, and a depth of feeling for someone so young. I am heartened by her success. In a world of gimmickry she is the real thing. That is said beautifully, juniemoon. As thoughtful, substantive artists like Adam and Adele gain support and visibility globally, hopefully their amazing talent and depth will be recognized as such and be the music of choice more often then not. Trust the process, not the plan (I have to keep reminding myself!).

On another newsfront, Gaga is announcing her new album title in Sept. Pink just had her gall bladder removed, Katy Perry serves popcorn to attendees of her movie opening in London and the Biebs gets a Bllboard Mag cover. He just can't understand why he is still popular. Awww.

IDK what his status is in the US. Like the Jonas Bro. it takes a while to visibly see the interest die down. I always watch what is being sold on t-shirts in my daughter's section of the stores (she is 8). Beiber is on clearance, so I'm hopeful.
