As far as a breakthrough hit... Assuming it's a radio hit popular with teens... I live with my sister and niece who is 18. My niece was just telling me that for a birthday party in her college program, she was tasked with making the music playlist. She's as big an Adam fan as I am (she's who I took with me to GNT), so she included all of the "fast" songs on Trespassing on the playlist. She knew that some of her friends liked Adam, but she knew many of them knew WWFM only. She told me that the "fast" songs were a huge hit amongst those at the party -- whose age range was 18--25. The five most popular songs were: 1. Trespassing 2. Cuckoo 3. NCOE 4. Kickin' In 5. Shady She said that Trespassing was THE song of the night and the one everyone wanted to hear over and over. It was the song everyone memorized and went home and bought on iTunes, the song everyone then sang to each other, etc. The line that hooked everyone was, "I ain't got no bs in my bag." She said that it became a tag line for everyone at the party. I realize it's only an anecdotal example, but I thought it was interesting how Trespassing was THE song they all loved. ETA: I will also say that again (anecdotal example though it was), NONE of the people at the party knew Adam's cd was out, even the ones who counted themselves his fans. I think RCA needs to find a way to reach that market because it didn't seem to work for at least that particular group of fans. I asked my niece how they find out about music and she said that it's word of mouth, when something goes viral and from tv shows/commercials. Radio really wasn't a big way of finding out about new music for them. That's why I always thought that they should release trespassing as a single. When I played the album for my friends, Trespassing was a favorite across the board. And I'm 19. It isn't a radio friendly song, but its a song that I think it is a song that a lot of people my age can relate to. P.S. I love NCOE It was interesting to me to here how Holly's niece and her friends heard about new music. May I ask, since you are in that age group how you and your friends learn new music is released. Plus, if you don't mind....... ;D do you and your friends buy CD's or download singles you like? Thank you!

Wait. There are people who don't know Queen?! ??? Now, my daughter is 21 and loves Classic Rock. She always asks me for recommendations of rock groups, singers and their songs. My son loves Queen. These are kids who knew no music when they came from Ukraine. I love it too, used to be all I listened to in fact :D Sometimes I forget that Queen aren't in fact the most famous rock band in the world. They're definitely the most famous rock band here and most loved which is why I'm so excited for Queenbert press!

Haven't read the whole thread yet, but i cant not add to a discussion about Shady!!! Shady is perfection!!! He had me with this song at "...did you just say your game was brand new?" which, of course was the first line in the snippet. I love everything about that song - the ultra funky guitar line, the verses, the lyrics, the bridge, it has a million hooks to me. Sam's bit is fabulous, the end whatever-you-call-it layered electro bit is awesome...never mind ear-candy, it's a full course meal to me. I DO listen to pop radio, and I think Shady would do well. Not because it's the same as everything; it isn't. But it's a stand out, and slick and so...cool (lol - can I say that without getting laughed at?). Adele, Gotye, fun...none of their biggest smash hits sound anything like straight up pop, and yet they were huge hits on CHR. And they are damned good songs, so anything is possible. (ok, I actually don't care for Adele, but whatever.) Demographic disclaimer: I'm 40 years old, which means of course I actually know nothing. And alternative is the genre I listen to most of all anyway, so I'm probably just babbling nonsense. /Shadybert

the whole narrative is disgusting! starting with :" Scandal in the USA! For the first time in the history of the BB magazine the most attractive man is GAY! According to the results of the vote this title went to Adam Lambert"... then they go into condescending, stupid talk... not translating this garbage.. reminds me of the radio station interview before Maxidrome... oh Nica but shoudn't our reaction be in context? Sure it still has that condescending tone, but for my country it's def a positive spin on the news. I personally am kinda surprised and pleased with it. Especially considering that after that stupid beginning they say: "The flirty hottie from california never made a secret of his preference, often wearing prominent eye make-up and lipstick. Seems it has worked - this sex-force is irresistible to both boys and girls." ;DThank you! I LOVE the quote part and YES Adam is a sex-force to be reckoned with.

Just had a thought .. I think that the movie Rock of Ages is going to bring a whole new generation into the rock world... So Adam and Queen will be a real treat for the kids who don't know who Queen is. 99% sure there are no Queen songs in Rock of Ages. However, I really doubt there are many teens or 20 somethings that do not know and love Queen. No Queen songs in Rock of Ages -- too early in rock history for this time period. And this movie is not likely to get many teens or 20 somethings watching it. Here are the songs in the movie -- original artist followed by soundtrack credit -- mostly hair metal, mid-80's music. Guns N' Roses 1. "Paradise City" – Tom Cruise Night Ranger, David Lee Roth, Enigma 2. "Sister Christian" / "Just Like Paradise" / "Nothin' but a Good Time" – Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin Foreigner , Arrows 3. "Juke Box Hero" / "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" – Diego Boneta, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Julianne Hough Pat Benatar 4. "Hit Me with Your Best Shot" – Catherine Zeta-Jones Foreigner 5. "Waiting for a Girl Like You" – Diego Boneta, Julianne Hough Extreme, Warrant 6. "More Than Words" / "Heaven" – Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta Bon Jovi 7. "Wanted Dead or Alive" – Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough Foreigner 8. "I Want to Know What Love Is" – Tom Cruise, Malin Akerman Twisted Sister 9. "I Wanna Rock" – Diego Boneta Def Leppard 10. "Pour Some Sugar on Me" – Tom Cruise Quarterflash 11. "Harden My Heart" – Julianne Hough, Mary J. Blige Pat Benatar, Quarterflash 12. "Shadows of the Night" / "Harden My Heart" – Mary J. Blige, Julianne Hough Whitesnake 13. "Here I Go Again" – Diego Boneta, Paul Giamatti, Julianne Hough, Mary J. Blige, Tom Cruise REO Speedwagon 14. "Can't Fight This Feeling" – Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin Journey 15. "Any Way You Want It" – Mary J. Blige, Constantine Maroulis, Julianne Hough ----- 16. "Undercover Love" – Diego Boneta Poison 17. "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" – Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige Scorpions 18. "Rock You Like a Hurricane" – Julianne Hough, Tom Cruise Starship, Twisted Sister 19. "We Built This City" / "We're Not Gonna Take It" – Russell Brand / Catherine Zeta-Jones Journey 20. "Don't Stop Believin'" - Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige

We learn by word of mouth, itunes, and alot of us know people in the indie music scene here, because we are all crazy drama kids. None of us actually buy CDs, usually itunes.

This is making me very happy.. Went to OnDemand...music free.. music choice... all artists . A .. Adam was first with the following :The F word then two down after Alicia Keys there are the following videos BTIKM,IIHY and WWFM..I'm kind of thrilled that I can see Adam's videos on TV . This means a lot to me, I used to watch IIHY all the time on music choice.. YAY I just watched all three videos and ended up crying .WTF is wrong with me.. Ok.. Adam went from being a kid to being a man.. It's so obvious, when you watch one video after another.. Amazing. If you have On Demand and have about 20 minutes to spare sometime, give it a look. Who knew that was there???? Thanks, bb. I love the F word interview. The lighting on his face is so beautiful, and he is so soft and open in it. I'm watching him talk about how his fans have his back and are almost protective of him, and that it is kind of like having a big sister in the mean world. And, yes, MellieMom... Yes, Adam is now a man, which makes the non-sisterly feelings I sometimes have for him a little more appropriate, ;D He really does wear his heart on his sleeve. On to the videos... Wish they had FYE and NCOE on here for my entertainment.

I have to confess I didn't know Bohemian Rhapsody until Adam sang it. Then I looked it up.
Here is my story of how these times are achangin'!!!
I've was a closeted Adam fan at work for a couple of years. Then, I came out at a manager's meeting, feeling so much better as 'my authentic self' . . . and found several other women who also described to me their fascination with our AFL. Since then - and it's been over a year - nothing much has occurred.
Today, I was traipsing down the endless corridor of Med/Surg when another manager stopped me. "Did you know there's a free concert this weekend in Golden Gate Park?" "Um . . do you mean next weekend, with Adam?" "Yes! My son and a bunch of friends are going . . and, they have their tickets for Sacramento, too!" "Wait! Do you mean your son is an Adam fan?" "I don't know!" "I bet he's listened to his new album! It's amazing!" "Well, I guess he must be, because he's excited!"
Then, I floated away.. Her son is seventeen.
A foundation is being laid. Somewhere out there someone knows that Adam Lambert is a miracle; a cyclone of song and style and sex and charisma and stage presence and beauty and intelligence and wit and kindness and respectfulness and manners and honesty and curiosity and exploration and out-of-the-box innovation and abandonment and work ethic and love - universal, complicated and uncomplicated love- and devotion to family, glamily, and this amazing infinite.
Others, like me, have said - - - we just have to let this build slowly and naturally. Allow Adam to shine through the morass of mediocrity. I am certain, given time, this will happen. Certain!
I just can't get upset over numbers and radio play. Believe me, I request in SF - I think they know me by now. Adam is so NOT fodder for the tweens . . . I won't angst for a moment if they don't get him. It makes me a little squirmy to think they would. While Adam is sweet as apple pie in interviews, in my opinion his sex in performance seals the deal. Wouldn't have it any other way.
