Oh. Boy. I am not going within 10 miles of the main thread today. I have been working on a personal concept that I call "fan bucks." In any given day, I only have so many fan bucks to spend. The fan bucks could be money, but more often they are time and emotional capital. I realize that I have not always spent my fan bucks wisely, and then I don't have enough fan bucks left for things that are actually fun. What would you guys like to spend your fan bucks on today? I am excited about Trespassing. Universe, please let this be Adam's breakthrough single! That would be great in so many ways and for so many reasons. It is a hip, driving rave-up. The second you hear about the sign, you know you need to put on your ass-kickin' shoes. I love the way the handclaps beef up the back beat, the boogieing bass line, and the way that Adam modestly proclaims Yeah my ass! Then you learn that getting over that fence is going to be a magical pursuit, but there is nothing relaxed here the way there was in the vocals of NCOE, despite it's uptempo beat. Trespassing centers on rhythm. It is simple, gutsy. It hammers at the beat. Instead of trying to slip into the gates under sly cover ... we tried that: He is going to kick open the door (I like the first 30 seconds): in a way far more frightening/thrilling than anything he has done as a single since FYE. But unlike FYE, he is not playing a role. He is being himself. This is Adam's declaration of independence, in a way that FYE tried to be but crashed on the launch pad. Adam is serving notice with a sense of authority that personal liberation and authenticity is the wave of the future and he is the prophet. He is no longer asking to be let inside. He is demanding it. Someone sent me this lovely gif this morning and I can't help seeing it as the open door to possibility: Let's go.

This was the first time that reading the main thread gave me chest pains.. I actually thought I was
having a heart attack.
I can't take the fighting over every little thing nor can I stand the
negativity..
I feel Zen here.
Thanks for the respite.. I may have to get more Adam news at a blog
without a comment section :-/

Jeez, you guys. A crummy day in RL. I was sad and lonely, and then I couldn't resist peeking at the main thread. Why did I do it to myself? I knew what I would find and looked anyway. I even proved to myself during my Adam blackout that I could live just fine without it, and still I looked. I don't understand myself. All I ever signed on for was having fun. Why should being a fan become yet another instrument of self-torture? We create our own hell, I guess. Have you guys seen this article called "Cutting the Digital Lifeline." www.nytimes.com/2012/08/26/technology/cutting-the-digital-lifeline-and-finding-serenity.html?_r=2&pagewanted=allI want to study it in more detail, but here are a couple of passages that caught my eye: One side effect of living an always-on digital life is the tension, along with the thrill, that can arise from being able to peep into people’s worlds at any moment and comparing their lives with yours. This tension may be inevitable at times, but it’s not inescapable. It’s possible to move beyond the angst that social media can provoke — and to be glad that we’ve done so. * “There’s no rhythm to the way we get information right now,” he said. “You never know when you’re going to get a buzz. If we develop a rhythm to the way we get information, we’ll know what we’re getting and when.” * “Ask yourself: How important is this, really? How happy does it actually make you?” he said. “Harness that feeling of pride when you do resist and stick to it.”

Still chuckling at myself. You guys got me curious about what was going on on the Main Thread so I popped on with the intent of skimming but the first thing I saw as a huge 'calm your tits'. .... Really not my sense of humor but if that's what's passing for clever, okay then : but my reaction was so visceral I clicked out immediately. Then I laughed at my 'Whoa! No!! Just No!!! [mouse click, mouse click!] response. All is well here in the Garden. I spent my lunch hour watching Adam interviews on you tube and they made me smile and my own RL tensions eased (he was laughing about what a well behaved teenager he was) - that's where I put my fan bucks today (thanks Junie!). And I'll buy a CD or two for give away this week to support the new single effort. All I can offer is positive action and try to avoid hand wringing over things beyond my control. I do #trustabitch (oh, Adam I realized that with his moon tweets, Adam must be a moon gazer too. He would love sitting around sharing refreshments (adult beverages) and random conversation with us, I believe. Happy Friday! I think something new and wonderful awaits us as Adam fans. It always has before

You guys make me feel better about my own lack of resolve to read the main thread It is good that I have been busy most of the day and I still have one more client coming....I have a pretty busy weekend too so that will help keep me otherwise occupied... I watched that Stephen Fry doc on manic depression....you made it sound like it was the first of a multiple...is that so? It reminds me..in style rather than substance...of a video John Barrowman made about being gay...he was looking for scientific evidence of a genetic implication in gender orientation...here is part 1....if you haven't watched it, do. He is a pretty special man....

So nice to see another reference to Stephen Fry. A few days ago, I mentioned on this thread, that I knew Stephen had sent a tweet to Adam a while ago ... found what I was looking for:
Stephen Fry â€@stephenfry @adamlambert Having dinner with Bryan Singer - trying to persuade him to be on Twitter. He says he knows and loves you. As do we all x
Bryan Singer is a well-known film director/producer.

mellimom, junie, winter and mszue, hi, and here’s a few of my thoughts on the topic. I never get to experience a US forum in real time, which I’ve come to see as a plus. Because of the time zone differences, the day’s thread is usually winding down, and the new one is just starting.
I get to play observer in the news thread rather than participant. Apart from any news itself, and the wit and humour that can often follow, I basically look at the thread abstractly as a melting-pot of perceptions, belief systems and world views.
People and humanity have always fascinated me and it’s not that difficult to tease out where someone is coming from by reading their posts over time. Based on that, I’ll register what someone is saying, or not. If I don’t agree with, or can’t learn from, someone’s premise, what’s the point of the endless detail? Lately my scroll is my friend has been around these things: I’m worried, but it really is because I love Adam so much
Which, of course, can justify any and all repetitive behaviour, almost as a proof of love. I find it difficult to even conceive how love and worry can be linked at all. To me, love is a state, a force that is positive and enhancing. To worry about someone you supposedly love is really saying that you don’t trust that you have, or can acquire, the capacity to cope with adversity or setbacks that may happen to the person. If you don’t trust that in yourself, it is impossible to trust in someone else. So, love becomes an agency for diminishing two people.
Need for control
If the pain of trying so hard to be in control of what cannot be controlled is really a pleasure, then continue to die a million deaths before the event (at the moment Adam on AI). Q3 and a few others, though, have written some wonderful posts simply looking at Adam’s possible options – that’s an entirely different game.
Adam deserves so much more success, faces so many obstacles and what is happening is so unfair
I wish Adam all the best. As I do others, including myself. But why does Adam deserve to get an easier pass in life - simply because he is talented and a lovely human being? Who says adversity, denial and obstacles are “bad” and the reverse “good”? It is entirely possible that he is here to accomplish much, much more than to simply entertain us or achieve the American (or other) Dream. Looked at in so many ways other than materialism, it’s not too great a leap to see “all for the best”.
None of these comments are intended as criticism - I'm just not interested. I come to this site to share and to celebrate Adam's music and the man himself. But it's very much centred around what is happening now, not what will be.
I also have a lot of respect for those individuals who tirelessly gather the news and maintain this site day after day. I don’t believe that their daily “labours of love” should be thrown out with the bath water.

Hi guys! Junie, I love your idea about the fan bucks! I have been busy with RL, so haven't looked at the daily news in a few days, which I guess is good. Guess they are still arguing about AI? Who cares! Actually, I don't think any of us can change what happens, so, why bother and anst about it? That is my view, for what it is worth. Although I haven't been posting here, I do check in here every day, and have enjoyed all the comments and topics. Here is an article that I found while reading about Adam, it presents a theory about why people are gay, and I thought yall might find it interesting, since the John Barrowan vid was posted above. New Theory Says Sexual Orientation is Determined by Brain Hemisphere Dominancewww.advocate.com/health/2012/08/06/new-theory-says-sexual-orientation-determined-brain-hemisphere-dominance

New Theory Says Sexual Orientation is Determined by Brain Hemisphere Dominancewww.advocate.com/health/2012/08/06/new-theory-says-sexual-orientation-determined-brain-hemisphere-dominanceI read that piece mahailia and thanks for the link. He is being bashed quite intelligently [for the most part] in the comments but because bashing is the preferred sport online it is sometimes difficult to determine when it is deserved and when it is not. Honestly, I suspect it is mostly deserved here....in the article at least. He is really dumbing down a lot of good research that is far more complex than this would suggest. The Barrowman vids are much more comprehensive, for starters. I used to teach Gender and Communication at the University of Alaska Fairbanks but that was almost ten years ago now so the films I used are at least that old...but there are some really good ones that cover all this territory. If anyone is interested, a couple of them are: BRAIN SEX...is a 4 part series, Canadian I believe, [CTV] and covers a lot of territory looking at brain structure, social conditioning, hormonal aspects...and relates them to our social, work, physical ives....very good, interesting stuff. THE GENDER PARADOX in one comprehensive film show on PBS and is a really good overview of gender development....it must be 10 - 12 years old as well....I think they were fairly new when I was showing them. On a different note....a couple of really interesting films addressing gender and pop culture that focus on sexual imagery and violence are TOUGH GUISE and KILLING US SOFTLY [there are multiple editions of KUS for sure, and perhaps TG...and the latest are the preferred ones simply as they use more recent examples and research]. Finally, if anyone can find DREAMWORLDS 1 or 2 [even better if they have released a more current version] prepare to be disturbed and shocked....I always allowed students to leave the class if they found this too disturbing...and I specifically requested that they come to me or not attend at all if they had any experience with sexual assault or rape. Recognize that these classes were dominantly females...until it became a core requirement for a Communication degree!! yeah...that was a milestone... just fyi's....I have no idea how easy or difficult these would be to find now....I suspect you would have to have access to a university library with a good women's studies department...especially dreamworlds....Killing us softly is pretty well known so that may even be available at a large public library...I have no idea... ETA I am sure there is lots of good, newer stuff out there and if anyone knows of something, I would love to take a look...albeit my connections have pretty well dried up ..... ETA2 Just had a friend point me to a new book she says is really good and it happens to be right up this convo's alley: "It’s the twenty-first century, and although we tried to rear unisex children—boys who play with dolls and girls who like trucks—we failed. Even though the glass ceiling is cracked, most women stay comfortably beneath it. And everywhere we hear about vitally important “hardwired” differences between male and female brains. The neuroscience that we read about in magazines, newspaper articles, books, and sometimes even scientific journals increasingly tells a tale of two brains, and the result is more often than not a validation of the status quo. Women, it seems, are just too intuitive for math; men too focused for housework. Drawing on the latest research in neuroscience and psychology, Cordelia Fine debunks the myth of hardwired differences between men’s and women’s brains, unraveling the evidence behind such claims as men’s brains aren’t wired for empathy and women’s brains aren’t made to fix cars. She then goes one step further, offering a very different explanation of the dissimilarities between men’s and women’s behavior. Instead of a “male brain” and a “female brain,” Fine gives us a glimpse of plastic, mutable minds that are continuously influenced by cultural assumptions about gender." "Passionately argued and unfailingly astute, Delusions of Gender provides us with a much-needed corrective to the belief that men’s and women’s brains are intrinsically different—a belief that, as Fine shows with insight and humor, all too often works to the detriment of ourselves and our society."
