You have hit on a good option for single #3. Labels do radio-edits of songs all the time. IMO, RCA should add someone to sing or rap the bridge of Naked Love or Cuckoo and send out a radio edit.
Levine was in a unique position with The Voice, but he was smart enough to add Christina to his single and to add a rapper to Payphone.
IMO, it's time to think outside of simply sending the next single to radio in a couple of months. If it's not working, adjust!
Have to disagree vehemently. I call it caving, not adjusting.
I think it would be ludicrous to have some random rapper on Naked Love..... ludicrous, embarrassing, and senseless. JMHO And I'd bet my next paycheck it wouldn't do anything but make Adam look desperate. Success is not measured by number 1 on the mind-numbing radio countdowns. Not being naive, just really think Adam is in way to good for that crap. He has tons of respect from reviewers and musicians and I think his career will be a long, happy, and successful one without using Levine as a guide.
First of all, I wasn't using Levine as a guide- simply responding to the comment above me about the way Levine was able to pull an album with mediocre sales back from the dead.
Adding in another artist to appeal to the younger demographic or in an effort to get radio play on several formats is not ludicrous, it's smart business! Adam is not too good to need a radio hit of some sort this era. It will open more doors and make things easier and Adam knows that.
There is absolutely nothing wrong or desperate about being smart, staying current, and playing the ever-changing game. It's not desperation, it's adjusting to the changing music climate. That's something that successful Pop artists, with long lasting careers, have done for years.
