noangel - loved your essay! As noted above in red, I see that some things willl remain the same on the second tour!
Sounds like we're gonna save a lot of money this next time around. Dirt and sticks are free! More money to spend on pit seats and plane tickets. We'll all be able to go to more shows! :D

I can't wait for Adam's second album.. Camp is just another box.. Adam doesn't do boxes.
He is a BOXLESS, creative force..IMO what Adam seems to be saying is that he wants to share more of himself with his audience. Maybe he wants to strip away ,the theatrical self and reveal the essence of Adam. Who he is ,where he's come from and how he's grown.I think the feelings of youth, growth and maturity will be universal feelings that most of us can relate to. Adam just may be going for 'REAL' My thoughts go to PINK's songs, she so goes for the gut.

Sneaking in early this morning. As usual love Sunday's write up and today I LOVE CAMP. I can't wait to go back and watch all youtubes. Hope this doesn't upset anyone this early, but here is some more Batman and Robin Camp.

I think one of the reasons that Adam is stating that he will be less camp is that his experience with FYE showed that too many people just don't truly "get" camp right now. I think in reality that there will still be camp but it will not be the focus as much and will not get in the way for those who don't "get it" but will still be there for those of us who do. My best analogy for this is the way the best animated children's movies have innuendo and humor that the adults will "get" but will go right over the heads of the kids so that the adults aren't bored to tears taking the little kiddies to the movies. If you watch the development of the camp in his performances you see that in the early ones like Gridlock, Kradison, and Fantasy Springs and even to some extent the two Canadian casino shows the camp was more in your face and pronounced. By the time he started GNT the camp was still there but a little less out front and more song specific. Even the costuming reflected that with the opening being very campy gradually stripped away for the acoustic set then coming back with that outrageous circus barker coat and then again being somewhat stripped away when that coat comes off. Adam does camp so well and so naturally that I don't think it would ever be completely gone but I think he is angling for it to not be the first thing people notice partly because it is often used as a way to dismiss gay artists in mainstream culture. As we said earlier camp does not equal gay any more than flamboyant does but they are both often used as a point to discredit or marginalize gay artists even though a straight artist using the same techniques gets praise.

What an interesting thoughtful place this is! I really have enjoyed the camp discussion last night and today.
When I think about creating album 2, I think about all that has happened to Adam and all that he needs to process. His life has changed 180. He has said he looks back in his journal to write songs. I think the reason that he says this album will be more honest is that all that he has gone through and trying to make sense of his new crazy life will be reflected in the music of Album2. On FYE he was interpreting someone else's songs. Camp was a style he used to show the ridiculousness that is in so much of society. That was his way of interpreting what was going on around him.
Whose to say that after he processes what has been happening to him, he won't throw glitter on the whole thing! Or maybe he'll throw feathers, sticks and dirt!

Wow, Q3. Just wow to your entire campventure! I did not know Freddy covered the Pretender - loved it. I'm also a big lover of Pulp Fiction and I consider the Kill Bill series to be campy as well. What a great Sunday post - well done, Ladies!!
