I watched Johnny's Cash's "Ring of Fire". How different can it get from Adam's? Two very different versions, each has its own appeal. I am amazed how Adam could imagine how should his version be! how do imbed a youtube? Welcome. Embedding is easy. Copy and paste the URL in your post, as you did. Then, highlight the link and click on the YT icon above the smileys on the draft of your post. You can then click on the preview button to make sure it looks right.

I can't help but post this song which was my favorite of all time that time! I thought it would never get better!
Then when I heard Adam' version - I got hooked, crazy, addicted... I listened again to many of his past songs... blogs of Adam... and indeed he is very rare... and we are blessed that he shared his voice!!!

I think that Brigadoon performance has to be my absolute favourite of pre-Idol Adam. That one, and My Conviction. But seriously, Come To Me Bend To Me is a master class on singing. Wow. It's so gorgeous! And that long, clear note in the end... It makes me feel so many things I can't even start to describe them. Sooo good.

The tone, the lilt, the effortlessness (which actually isn't, but just sounds that way), the breath control, the phrasing, the consistency, the articulation, combine to create a sublime listening experience. The other day, I listened to several different versions of CTMBTM along side of Adam's to clarify in my head why his was so marvelous. It was striking to hear very good tenors sing it and, for all that they did a good job, not come close to Adam's version. And he was just 22 at the time. WOW.

The other day I played Adam's version in the car and both my parents were rendered almost speechless. They could only say: "Wow. Damn, what a voice! That was incredible!" And, like you said, he was only 22. It's the same with My Conviction, even if it's not as vocally spectacular as CTMBTM. I've listened to every version I could find of that song countless times. And I have to say I'm absolutely convinced that Adam's version is the best ever. I'd kill to see a video of him performing that song in character. His talent is out of this world. I really pity those who can't recognize what a tremendous artist he is. They don't know what they're missing.

I really pity those who can't recognize what a tremendous artist he is. They don't know what they're missing. My Conviction just boggles my mind. It is brilliant. How he changes the sound of his voice to seem like a mezzo soprano I don't know. It is not just the notes. Not just the vibrato. He hits those notes in other songs. He uses similar vibrato elsewhere. But, he does SOMETHING to make his voice sound female. In other songs, no matter how high, his voice always sounds male to me. Plus, it is comical how he sounds pure opera on one note and then almost blats another. I'd love to see video of this as well. It also boggles my mind that there are people who have listened to Adam sing and don't appreciate what a wonderful, amazing, extraordinary voice he has and what a talented performer/interpreter he is. It is like someone watching a breathtaking sunset and saying "Meh. This is boring. What's the deal? Don't like the colors. Hurts my eyes. I like cloudy days better." :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

I agree with everything you said about My Conviction, his performance is completely brilliant. I particularly like what he does in the words "birthright", the "are" in "that is the way things are" and then in the "most" in "most species". Seriously, a video of Adam performing that song in character would the the best present ever. I also agree with you when you compare people not appreciating Adam with people not appreciating a sunset. I just can't understand it. :dunno: ETA:Just because, let's listen to a few My Conviction performances: THE NEW BROADWAY RECORDING (I think this is by Andrew Kober) 1993 LONDON CAST (I also like this one, I think it's by Andy Forray) MOVIE SOUNDTRACK (I think this was the version sang by a woman... Charlotte Rae) ADAM
