Loved, loved, LOVED the two interviews today. He is so classy. And humble. And "aw, shucks." It strikes the right note.
Having said that, I have to call a little BS. He didn't think he was the best on Idol? C'mon. He HAS to know what an incredible voice he has. He has been told that since he was a child. He chose singing because it was something he was good at. He has a very good, discerning ear. He may be insecure about any number of things, but he is confident about his voice. As he should be. He has worked his butt off to perfect it for most of his life. I can understand, after all the years of auditions and rejections, that he might not have confidence that he can convince someone else about his talent. But, to not think he has a exceptional voice --- one of the best (I think THE BEST) in the music world today --- would mean he was way out of touch with reality.
The same for his story about being shocked that Queen wanted HIM to front them in concert. Flattered? Yes. Surprised that he was being offered the opportunity? Yes. But, he has to know he can perform that music like very few others alive today. I mean, he chose a Queen song to audition for American Idol. A difficult Queen song. He did it to show his range and ability. He also auditioned in Vegas for a role in the Queen musical. Don't you think that a little voice, way in the back of his head, when told Queen wanted him to sing with them said, "About DAMNED TIME I got this recognition."?
No, I don't want him to be cocky or casual about the recognition and honor. He is playing it just right. But, I do think he is consciously playing it. Good for him.

Adam is always humble. I wouldn't want him any other way. And he knows how the Freddie stans are. His answers were perfect! (I love that he chose Allison over NAL!) ;D

I caught that too! It's the jet lag and all those Queen lyrics swirling around in his head!

Of course you are right! :D But for him to toot his own horn would sound arrogant, especially for a British audience that doesn't know who he is. Better to error by being too humble than arrogant.

We don't know what his thoughts are but he sure is a great diplomat with a very high IQ, both intellectual and social. So...of course he knows his own worth...and of course he is not going to announce it in any interview... I hate hearing him being so humble, and it all sounds like BS to us...cause it is...but necessary ....playing the cards right...let other people say that ADAM IS THE BEST, that ADAM"S VOICE OS THE BEST...and then he will greaciously say "awww... thank you... I am honored....I am flattered..." and look straight into the interviewer eyes with no sign of embarassment or faulse modesty....

Can you imagine, though, how it would have sounded if he had said, "Oh, definitely. I was considerably more talented vocally than any of the other contestants." I mean--ewww. There was just no way to respond other than to deny that he thought he was the best. It was kind of a stupid question. It reminded me of those news reports when someone has risked their life and run into a burning building to rescue a child. The reporter inevitably asks, "Do you consider yourself a hero?" And the hero has to say, "Oh, no, I just did what anyone else would do in the situation." It's practically a law that you have to be humble when an interviewer backs you into a corner like that.
