The beauty of all of the songs that Adam wrote for Trespassing, is that while he wrote them from the perspective of gay man, club kid, lost loves, love found, etc, they can all relate to pretty much everyone's unique situation. I realize that Underneath can relate to anyone that has had a tough time and had to put on a happy "front" for whatever reasons. But when I was making my comment about some reviewers not getting it, I was specifically relating it to Adam's experiences.
Kickin In, as another example, reminds me of my middle child, one of my daughters. I picture her in my mind and it makes me laugh. Because maybe once a year, she just wants to party and get wasted. When she is downing shots at the bar, her intention is for it to be "Kickin In!" And the "Girl don't you hit the ground" just brings a smile to my face.
Do I have a warped sense of humor, maybe?!
