Does anyone follow some Rock blogs? I was wondering what they were saying about the concert? It is being discussed a lot on the Queen forums, but not to much on the rock and metal forums.

ETA: FOUND IT Looks like Adam's got him self some nice Russian beefcake bodyguards - good to see. Most of those guys in Eastern europe are ex military so he should be well taken care of. ;D

I love your description of Brian's solo. However, scientist, doctors, etc., have a reputation of being excellent musicians. Many of them choose technical careers instead of music, but excellent techie musicians are all around us. I don't have statistics, but those of us who do music for a living are frequently in awe of those who do these two things that seem opposite so well, particularly in a case like Brian. And related: a few years ago I read that in the U.S., among med school applicants, music majors had the highest acceptance rate. Go figure. I am all on board your fantasy song-writing ship. That really got me thinking. Since currently rock is mostly looking bleah, maybe such a collaboration could be a game changer in rock history. Maybe Adam would want to sing rock if there were great songs, but it's mostly dullsville out there. He and Brian could be the saviors of rock and Adam could be the czar of pop (is that title taken). Holst, you’re a marvel of information that I’m finding particularly fascinating in light of the developing phenom of Adam & Brian that I think I see. I remember a Japanese study from a ways back about how grade school kids learned math better when they listened to music while doing their work. The study tried to determine what music produced the best results for the students. IIRC, they determined it to be Bach. You’ve given me even more fuel for my fantasy of Brian writing new music for Adam’s voice! I like to think of Brian, hanging out in his backyard observatory, gazing up at the night sky and hearing music in his head. So much music! When he wrote a song like “Who Wants to Live Forever” that he himself couldn’t possibly have vocalized while he was writing it, Brian must have been able to literally hear Freddie in his head singing that melody. That song (and others) are so obviously written for Freddie’s voice and style alone. It took Freddie’s voice to give sound to what was in Brian’s head, and that Brian himself could not do. Now, when Freddie died, what happened to those songs in Brian’s head? Freddie’s gone, but the music in Brian’s mind didn’t die. It would be like having all this glorious sound trapped in your head with no ability to give it voice. When Beethoven became deaf, but he continued to hear every note of the music he wrote in his head, what if he hadn’t been able to play an instrument to produce that music he heard? Now, here Brian finds himself sharing a stage with a young man with a nearly inhuman voice, a man who could once again give wings to Brian’s songs, set them free from his mind, and send them soaring again, back out into space just like his guitar solos. At first I was puzzled when I hear that Brian said Adam had a voice like nothing he’d ever heard before. The longer I thought about it, the less puzzling it seemed. Yes, of course, Adam’s voice has many similarities to Freddie’s voice, and obviously Brian hears that. But he, like maybe no one else, is finely attuned to hear every minute difference and nuance that makes Adam’s voice different than Freddie’s. I imagine Brian might have a rather substantial songbook in his head, written over these many years since he lost Freddie, but written for Freddie’s voice nonetheless. I bet he’d like to hear those songs in Adam’s voice. I believe this will happen, because it seems nearly inevitable. Damn. That was a beautiful story and I felt every word. And I am definitely on board with thatl!!! You write with such passion. Post frequently.

To me, Queen's is a whole different kind of 'rock' than a lot of the rock and metal bands I've heard through the years. I am a big Queen fan.

I know the set list has been posted a few times but I can't remember which page it was on. Is it possible to post it on page 1 of the thread perhaps? Thanks. It is on page one of the 6.30.12 thread. Thanks Q3 and seoulmate - trying to find that dragon song. I guess the past few days are just one big blurry Queenbert hour glass. Hmm.. I think there's a cat I haven't fed in a while. Might be a husband around here someplace too. BRB. Ha - turns out they both know how to open a can. Back to the dragon!

Well I could live with Brian and Roger surprising Adam and having Bowie come on stage for Under Pressure! ;D (A girl can dream.)Let's hope he's well first, Bowie I meant, coz Sharon Oshborne said that he's not doing well these few years Yeah, it's odd because I happened to be Googling abt Bowie today. I came across an article in the Daily Beast written in early June abt the mystery surrounding his whereabouts and suggesting he is living quietly with his family in SOHO and will reemerge when his book is published in the fall. Anyway, I think someone like Bowie would want to make a big splash with something like playing Under Pressure with Queen at Olympics ceremony, but if he's not well enough to be absolute top form, I think he would not partipate. Anyway, kind of OT, and I worship Bowie, but I still carry a tiny grudge abt him not showing up at Mick Ronson's funeral (Spiders from Mars guitarist). Ian Hunter's still p*ssed at him for that. If you want to see some heart-rending vid, watch Bowie singing Heroes with Queen and Mick Ronson on guitar in tribute to Freddie Mercury. Ronson only lived a couple months longer and he's brilliant, but barely holding on. (I won't bother posting link cuz it's OT and you prolly all have seen it.) Ok, so let me try to back on topic. Yes, Seolmate, I sooo agree it being pure bliss to enjoy these shows and not worry abt radio, closed-minded PDs, etc. I wandered into the Numbers thread briefly today, and thought, no, I'm outta hear--at least until after London!
