So I've watched the concert a "couple" times and will add my tidbits of observation, for what it's worth: - I haven't seen anyone mention his curly-toe boots after the costume change. They make me smile. ETA: Good lord, Bridgeymah just mentioned this while I was writing this long post.
- Also, has anyone mentioned/noticed his stank face during the bass solo. (I'm sure you all did.)
- Took me a while to notice that Brian and Roger also had costume changes.
- In Another One Bites the Dust (not gonna use acronyms), he did the audience echo-singing but ended up scatting for a while.
[/IMG] I watched it a number of times because I realized that only percussion was playing. When the rest of the band started playing again, he was pitch perfect in tune after 1 min 45 secs of improv, sans chordal accompaniment. Pretty decent. [/li][li]I don't see the nerves or understand what people are saying about the beginning of the show not being as good. The only thing I notice is that his mic needed to get turned up for the tv feed. I guess I'm not as tuned into the performance dynamics??? [/li][li]While thinking about the great musicianship in the band, I realized that it is perfect to have a young singer. The voice goes south at a much earlier age than instrumental skills. If Freddie were singing these songs nowadays, my guess is it won't sound great, especially since he was an "extreme" singer. But Roger and Brian do still sound great. [/li][li]I loved how young audience members were the ones right up front and singing every word. We had some discussions about whether young people know who Queen is. Obviously, many do. [/li][li]I spent a lot of time yesterday (and will again today) doing what some of you are: burning DVDs, CDs, etc. I tried importing the tv version of the full concert into iMovie and had to add in the missing encores. However, I'm not great at using iMovie. The aspect ratio was off, plus I had to burn at a lower quality because of the length. So I'll try again and edit out some of the applause in an attempt to have shorter, high-quality DVD. I even added markers for each song so they appear on the main menu. It took hours to add song markers and for the computer to redo the encoding, etc. Want to make one for my guitarist brother who doesn't do computers much. He's the person who will listen with great interest about AL and has eclectic taste in music. [/li][li]Lastly, no matter what errors there were, no matter if some hard-core Queen fans think R & B should just stop performing as Queen, that was some great music-making. I thought it was masterfully done. There is nothing like great, live music. (And I wasn't even there.) I don't see how watching a concert on the computer can give me so much pleasure. I'm having a great time and I'm all by my lonesome. :D [/li][/ul] Whew!

Well, I finally had time to watch the whole show again from start to finish, and it was even better than I remembered! All of them were just fantastic. I thought Adam was amazing in the first half as well--I loved the duet with Roger and you could just see the joy on everyone's faces up there. When the performers are having that much fun, the audience will as well. Adam looked like he wanted to pinch himself a few times!
In addition to slaying these songs and performing with Queen like he'd been doing it for years, I have to say, wow, to his absolute beauty. He is just so damn gorgeous and sexy when he wants to be (that Dragon Attack was HOTTTTT!). That's really something extra he brings to it--I loved Freddie, but did not consider him sexy or gorgeous!
Really, that whole performance was nothing short of amazing on every level from all of them. Truly extraordinary--and how lucky were we to get the tv stream and then these amazing Youtubes!
Also, I think his upcoming Fantasy Springs show is going to be amazing again---have a feeling he might bust out some of these tunes, since some fit with his current album and they are in his repertoire now! For those of you going to that gig, I am envious and excited for you at the same time!!!! The next few weeks are going to be so amazing...and I am having trouble getting anything done as well! But seriously, it is so worth it. Watching that concert makes me so happy!
Love to you all!

Unfortunately, I always get distracted by Freddie's teeth in videos. (Yes, shallow.) That and his unusual legs--lanky and they move in a unique way, which is sort of interesting.
