One of the things I think about as I watch Queenbert is Adam's hometown band. Queen is beyond amazing. Dr. May finesses that guitar like Don Juan and his lover. Roger and Rufus have both youth and experience to give the drums/percussion some serious mojo and although the bassist and keyboards are not very front and center, they provide such a solid backing to the band ... enough that they can fly. Adam said that he does not worry too much about singing Queen's songs because he knows that people love them but you have to know that being in a band that has a level of talent comparable to his own must give him ideas. Adam is loyal and realistic but if I were Tommy Jo, Isaac, Ashley, and Brian London, I would be practicing really hard right now. Just a thought, should I be dodging tomatoes. Band members as good as Brian & Roger are not going to be playing as part of a back-up band for a solo artist. They would be playing for a band where all of the band members are on equal footing with the frontman. I think Adam still wants to be a solo Artist. Plus Adam has stated that he "feels like he struck gold with the band of life" in commenting about his current band. They may not all be great solo musicians, but they know how to pull together as a team and produce the kind of sound Adam wants.

One other thought, I am so glad that Adam is benefiting from the years of experience provided by Brian and Roger. They know that radio is fickle and I believe that Adam is receiving extremely positive encouragement from them to continue to travel his own path. I don't think he would have had the confidence to confess that performing his own songs can be more fraught with worry if he had not had that positive feedback from Brian and Roger. This thought makes me happy. ITA. Only two Queen songs have ever hit no. 1 on the U.S. Billboard charts, Another One Bites the Dust and Crazy Little Thing Called Love. (But they've had many more number ones in the U.K. and other countries.) Also, Led Zeppelin (one of my other all-time favorite bands) NEVER had a number one song in the U.S. or the U.K., and only six of their songs broke the U.S. top 40 - but Stairway to Heaven is reputedly the most requested song of all time. So radio spins aren't required for long-term success, ladies and gentlemen! That is pretty amazing about Queen and Led Zeppelin (my favorite band of all time)

Speaking of Costa Mesa, does any one know how ticket sales are going for that show and for Fantasy Springs? I doubt that either show is sold out, but are they getting close? Hoping for large turn outs even if not all the way sold out.

Ha ha--you and AMW need to get together and have a good old gush-vent! I'll tell you the same thing I told her this morning: Nooo, Linda, I'm sorry, but Adam can't have Queen as his back-up band. He can play with them, but he can't take them home. Now don't you go making the same whiny "but Iwan'Iwan'Iwan" face she did (the same face a five year old makes when she can't have that puppy) ;D ;D Oh, and by the way, guys, shove over on that Shady soap box, I'm coming up too...

OK, I have spent a big chunk of yesterday and today down in my photobucket basement. I have downloaded and uploaded and side-loaded so much Queenbert stuff my laptop is srsly GASPING and GROANING. I've been on such a maniacal right-click-save spree I ended up saving some pics like 15 times. Seoulmate, this sounds familiar to me! My DH seriously thinks of buying a new PC with a bigger harddrive next week because there's one on offer in a market next monday! : My old PC crashes down several times a day because of the many vid's and photos I collected so far!

Adam may, indeed, want to be a solo artist, but he is also signed to a record contract as a solo artist. That probably limits his choices somewhat in terms of going the band route - everyone equal, all names on the contract, etc - if he should wish to do so. peace&love

It's a bigger venue (8,500 seats), but since Adam sold out 2 dates there in 2010, I was hoping he could get to at least 70% this time around. I think awareness is part of the problem -- not a lot of Adam radio play in LA. :( I wish there was a way to get the word out and get some more ticket sales. Would twitter work? I don't know about FS -- haven't looked lately. Too busy watching videos.

Tommy is a great guitarist and has a blues background which fits perfectly with the funk of Trespassing. There is only one Brian May. Even among the greatest guitar players of all time, he is unique. I think he made Top 10 in the RS article about 100 best guitar players. Tommy is 30 years behind Brian in his experience. I think Adam's band is awesome!! Can not wait to see Adam and the band in two weeks. I actually miss Adam and Trespassing. Since CM will be the first Adam show after Queen, I am expecting FIREWORKS!!!!!!

No disrespect intended towards Adam's band either but I've chuckled a little about what they must all be thinking right about now.

Well, unfair comparison, IMO. There are 13 wonderful songs on Trespassing!
