Thanks for the lovely welcome! I really do like it here; intelligent conversation and polite debate, with appropriate amounts of flailing! I'm happy to tell my story, but is this the proper thread or should I post that somewhere else? {off to see if there is an FAQ somewhere I should read} Tell it here! Welcome powermama! Yes - please tell your story here!

Looking good reihmerNica, I lurked in the Queenonline forum after Kiev out of Adam interest, but I didn't join or post anything there because I am not a hardcore Queen fan. (I am not a hardcore fan of anybody, really, other than Adam, and this has been my first experience in forum posting other than an ADD site I visited regularly years ago to help my son navigate his way through middle school.) In general, reading things about Adam, and even writing things myself about Adam, reminds me of the importance, in general, of trying to present opinions and viewpoints respectfully and makes me remember my mother's old admonishments that while it is okay to attack viewpoints, it is not necessary to attack the people who hold them, and that while one person might not respect what another person does, it is still important to treat that person respectfully. I appreciate the rules here that remind us of that. I find my interest in Queen and their music growing since Adam has been familiarizing me with their songs. I never really listened that much to Queen as a teenager, but I started checking Queen and Freddie out early in my Adam stanning because Adam referenced Freddie so much in interviews and have since found them to be rather brilliant. I love Brian's gentle strength and reflective personality and his innate generosity. Roger seems lively and fun. I love what Adam said about how they inspire him and remind him that it is possible to make it through a career in the music industry and still be down to earth and lovely human beings. I am sure Adam benefits from collaboration with Brian and Roger in a myriad of ways as I am sure they benefit from Adam's youth and energy and joy in the moment. I am sure they all get back what they give away. And I, for one, feel so lucky to be a third party recipient.

I'll try to keep it relatively short! I've always watched AI so that's where it began. He had me from the second he walked through the door into the audition room. He just exuded this air of ease and confidence - completely comfortable with himself and everyone else in the room. So much of the auditions are full of histrionics and desperation, and he was such a breath of fresh air. And then he sang. Holy crap! I remember being pissed at Simon for cutting him off while he was singing BR.
The love, respect and admiration just grew from there. One thing that really hit me during his AI run is the huge risk he took during Top 11 week. That rendition of Ring of Fire was so risky, and if it scared too many people, he would have missed the tour! But I love that he performed the song the way he wanted to and the let the chips fall where they may.
I've been to three of his concerts - so far. New Orleans was the first, then St. Pete and Hollywood. They were all amazing, but New Orleans was crazy. Did anyone else here go to that show? While waiting after the concert to see if he was going to come out and sign autographs (I went by myself), I start chatting with the chick next to me. We hit it off and ended up on Bourbon Street later that night. I will NEVER forget standing on the lower dance floor in Oz, turning around and seeing Adam standing about three feet from me! He had been upstairs, and I think they started playing one of his songs, and he came down to dance with the fans, but I gotta say, when I looked at that gorgeous hunk of a man standing there, all rational thought went out of my brain! Unfortunately, he didn't stay down on the first floor for long, but it was sweet to see him try to just hang with fans for a few minutes.
Adam is one in a billion. So incredibly, uniquely talented, but beyond that, he is truly a great person. I couldn't be happier to see him performing with Queen, and I have so much love and respect for Brian and Roger for recognizing the immense talent of Adam and believing that he is a perfect fit for Queen.
I'm so glad to be along for the Adam Lambert ride, and to have found you all to enjoy it with!!

Like so many of us, "he had you at hello" except it was Hi Guys. I am with you, Nica and so many others. There is something so absolutely riveting about this whole intersection of Trespassing, breaking into the UK and of course being the Prince of Queen. Something has been set in motion that is not yet seeable but has a palpable presence. It makes me incredibly excited and with much less angst about the ridiculous radio scene.
