Why does my shorter than 120 minutes video not fit on a DVD that says it will hold 120 minutes?
What size DVD do I need for the 121 minute Kiev videos?
Minutes is not a good measure of whether or not a video will fit on a DVD. It also depends on the frame rate, number of pixels per frame, and audio quality. As a general rule, 60 min of HD video or 120 min of standard quality should fit on a single layer 4.7 GB DVD. A dual layer (8.5 GB) DVD is needed for 120 min of HD video plus a DVD writer which can write to a dual layer DVD - not all can.
ETA - Note that the 121 minute Kiev videos WILL fit on a 8.5 GB dual layer DVD with High Quality using the Free Studio software. You can't go strictly by the number of minutes the video says and the number of minutes specified on the DVD label!

When a song or interview is posted from Soundcloud, I am unable to access whatever it is. It won't open for me anymore. It said something about downloading something from Adobe which I did. Since then I can't open anything on Soundcloud. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I was able to download that gorgeous Kiev folder to iTunes but it played only as a mp3 on my iPod. It played the whole video in iTunes but no visuals on my iPod. I still love the sound on my iPod but would love the visuals too. Thanks for any help.

What OS is your PC running - Mac, Windows XP, Windows 7, etc? And what exactly do you mean by music libraries? Is this something you saved under "library" on the left panel of iTunes or does it have to do with the *.xml file I talk about below?
If Windows, did you check the "iTunes Music Library.xml" file which is probably in the Libraries/Music/My Music/iTunes directory? (I assume this file also exists on Mac but I don't use a Mac.) This is the file that iTunes uses to keep track of what music and information you have entered into iTunes. My guess is that this file became corrupt or that iTunes wrote over the file with a blank file when iTunes crashed. It is a good idea to make a backup of this file every time you make major changes to iTunes for such occasions as this. Just copy the file and append a date or version number at the end of the file name while iTunes is closed.
Well, I don't know if this information will help you at this point but once you get things back to normal, it could help prevent this situation next time iTunes crashes. In that case, just copy the current *.xml file to another name (don't delete it till you are sure things are working again) and copy the last saved *.xml file to the "iTunes Music Library.xml" name and restart iTunes. As long as your music files themselves have not disappeared, this should recover your iTunes to the state it was in the last time you make a backup of the *.xml file. You might want to check and see if you have multiple *.xml files in the directory where the "iTunes Music Library.xml" is located or somewhere else. Just do a search on "*iTunes*.xml" in Internet Explorer starting at the Libraries directory or even the C directory.
All of you with lots of stuff in iTunes, you may want to start making this backup on a regular basis to prevent this from happening to you!
Thanks so much for this info. My OS is Windows 7. I'm too fried to check all of this out tonight but will get on it after work tomorrow. The library files I was directed to work with were the itl files. These were empty after the crash. I keep all my files on the external drive. Only the cd's that I imported to itunes are on the pc's hard drive.
Thanks again.
Oh yea, and if you are linking iTunes to your external drive and for some reason the drive letter (D, E, etc) changes for that device, iTunes can no longer find the stuff on that drive. Or at least this was the case a few years back. I had this happen to me when I added more devices and the drive letter changed for the external drive my iTunes stuff was on. iTunes could no longer find my stuff. I believe I found some instructions somewhere on how to remap the drive letter but it was a real pain. This is why I know about the *.itl & *.xml files. I think I bassically edited the *.xml file.I fixed it!!!! YAY!!!! Dancygeorgia, thank you so much for all of your time and knowledge and willingness to help me out. I am so grateful for it. I removed both the .xml and .itl files from the itunes folder and replaced the .itl file with a copy of the one from the backup folder I had created on 6/5/12 (still don't know why I created that backup folder that day!). I then put a copy of the backup .xml file on my desktop. Then I opened itunes and was on the newbie home page--all the files were gone. Then I went to File/Library/Import Playlist and browsed for the backup .xml on the desktop. itunes then recreated my playlists and only the files that were there before the crash were listed. The only thing that was missing was the artwork for the albums that I had imported. I had itunes find the artwork and now I'm making a backup of the itunes folder as of today and placing it on my external drive. Oh I just remembered why I decided to make that duplicate itunes folder on the external drive. When the last computer I had the crashed and burned, itunes was not able to restore my purchased items. If I hadn't made backup copies of all of Adam's AI-S8 videos and studio recordings, I would not have been able to purchase the videos again because they are no longer available. I didn't want to be in that position again. I hope everyone takes dancygeorgia's advice and makes a backup copy of the .xml file on a regular basis. Again, thank you so much to dancygeorgia, reihmer, and everyone who responded to my plea for help.

First of all, THANK YOU Tinafea for creating this thread. I feel like I've been spamming the News thread with my tech questions so this is GREAT. I got a DVD burning question! I have downloaded the wonderful Kiev file that someone posted a link to. It's the entire concert in best possible quality & I'd like to have it on DVD. I've googled DVD burner software & get a ton of different programs, some free, most not. CAN SOMEONE RECOMMEND A SOFTWARE THAT WORKS & also doesn't cost too much?? I bought Bigasoft Audio Converter software to convert FLAC files from Moscow & it worked great. I keep seeing another program called Aimersoft that looked very easy with the free trial but of course it will only burn with a watermark unless I buy it. : I bought a pack of DVD+R DL discs that will hold 240 min. Concert is labeled as 121 min. I'd like to find a program that will have the "fit to disc" option (Aimersoft does) that will give the highest quality possible. (Am I asking for the world here?) I would really appreciate any personal experiences/troubleshooting tips anyone has to offer! THANKS PEEPS! ;D

Ginger, I'm not much help, the software I used is from AVS4YOU and it does cost $$ One thing I noticed people commenting on is using "dual layer" dvd's. I don't know if that's what you bought or not plus you need to make sure your dvd burner allows dual layering. Did you download the already converted files?

Yes I bought DVDs that are dual layer DVD+R - 8.5GB 240min. My computer is pretty old but it DOES have a dual layer burner in it. I did download the converted file - it's M-PEG4, so I think it's ready to burn. I know about AVS4YOU software - in fact, they have an offer right now for an unlimited subscription for $59 (rather than their $39 a year deal), so that sounds kinda inviting. That's probably one of the best deals out there right now, but I'm just asking around before I decide on something. Thanks so much for the info!

Obtaining the 4 GB Kiev concert video! There are several web links from which you can download the 4GB Kiev concert video. Terra has provided the original links at the bottom of this adamwikki.org site: www.adamwiki.org/wiki/2012-06-30_Kiev,_Ukraine_(Queen_%2B_Adam_Lambert) Terra’s link to the 4.1 GB video takes you to a twitter longer page with 2 sets of download links. The 4.1 GB file is broken up into 5 RAR files each a little less than 1 GB for downloading. These files must be joined using the right software after downloading. In the 2nd set of links, there are 5 links, one for each file. Clicking on any of the links in the 2nd set takes you to a download site that makes you wait 30 seconds before it lets you proceed with the download or you can buy the monthly subscription for immediate downloading. In the 1st set, files 1&2 are downloaded as one zipped file and the same for files 3&4. Clicking on the first set links takes you to a file share site which lets you download almost immediately. The first 2 files in this set must be unzipped after downloading. In contrast, devenlane has rehosted the 5 RAR files in MediaFire which is much easier to download from. And it is easier to download multiple files at once from Media Fire. The 5 files are under the TVCap-ljorichViaBdwayDiva1 folder at: www.mediafire.com/?e1debi8k3nu8v#412e8a4k4l6tgTo join the RAR files after downloading, I used the free 7-Zip software downloadable form: www.7-zip.org/7-Zip is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. For Windows, you MUST know before hand if your Operating System is 32-bit or 64-bit and download the correct version. To determine this, go to Start -> Control Panel -> System and it will tell you under “System type”. You can also buy the WinRAR program ($29) to use for joining the RAR files at: www.win-rar.com/start.html?&L=0Note that the audio & video in the 4 GB file are 100 ms out of sync. One software that can be used to you fix this problem is tsMuxeR: www.videohelp.com/tools/tsMuxeR

Obtaining the 6 GB Kiev concert video! The link to the 6.6 GB Kiev video is at the bottom of Terra's adamwikki.org site: www.adamwiki.org/wiki/2012-06-30_Kiev,_Ukraine_(Queen_%2B_Adam_Lambert) Terra's link takes you to a QueenZone page where you can download a torrent file after registering an account and logging into it. Note that the audio & video are 150 ms out-of-sync in this video. www.queenzone.com/forums/1316012/2012-06-30-kiev-dvb-mpeg.aspxThe QueenZone folks have also recently provided a file of the 6.6 GB video with the audio-video sync problem fixed and in a format ready to burn to a 8.5 GB dual-layer DVD. The link to this file is located at: www.queenzone.com/forums/1316687/announce-queen-and-adam-lambert-live-in-ukraine-2012-full-dvd-9.aspxNote that both of the above videos are in PALS format which can be played on European DVD players but not on US DVD players. They can however, be played on most computers anywhere. If you want a NTSC video for playing on a DVD player in the US or Japan, them obtain the first video, fix the sync problem (see above post on 4 GB Kiev video), and use a DVD authoring program to write it to a disc. IMPORTANT NOTE:Both of the above videos are provided as BitTorrent files. You will have to install a torrent client software (I think there are several out there) on your PC. The torrent client uses peer-to-peer networking to download files very quickly, but this method has several security issues because it exposes your computer’s IP address. If you want to use this method and care about computer security & privacy (i.e. preventing malware from being install on your computer and hackers or anti-piracy outfits from being able to monitor your network traffic, etc.), then you should read up on the subject first. There are some ways of preventing some of the security issues, but you need to know what they are and how to set them up. Some of the torrent client softwares have built in protection features, but for most the default settings have these features set to off.

Obtaining the 1 GB Kiev concert video! The 6.6 GB Kiev video (without watermarks like the 4 GB video) was converted to a 1 GB video by @mmyy9 and loaded to a site from which you can very easily download the file. The slight 150 ms out-of-sync between the audio & video was fixed in this video. There are 2 versions of the file, one with iTunes chapters for each song and one without the chapters. The video can be played in iTunes, QuickTime, Windows Media Player, and probably any other software that will play MP4 files. However, the chapters will ony display on iTunes and supposedly on an iPhone and iPod. There is a link to the chaptered version on Terra's adamwiki site at: www.adamwiki.org/wiki/2012-06-30_Kiev,_Ukraine_(Queen_%2B_Adam_Lambert) Or the direct link for the chaptered version is: minus.com/lvhKDgWkLuq6HThe link to the version without chapters is: minus.com/lqnQGpAb3e2BPDownload the 1 GB file by clicking on the "Download" button on the top right of the web page. Here are some instructions for displaying the chapters in iTunes taken for the Apple site ( www.apple.com/itunes/features/): "While a movie or video is playing, move the pointer to bring up onscreen controls. You can play, pause, scan backward or forward, and adjust volume. iTunes lets you navigate through chapters if this option is included in the video or movie."

How to make a DVD of the 4 GB Kiev video file (or other video files):
From indigobay's post on Jul 4, 2012, 1:35pm:
Hi, In case people are still wanting to make a DVD, the following worked for me if you want to give it a go:
1. Download Terra's 4.1Gb files (there are 3 files)
2. Extract the files using winRAR or 7-Zip ( I used winRAR for this but 7-Zip will work also)
3. Put all 5 files to a single folder
4. Open the folder containing the 5 files in 7-Zip, highlight all 5 files, extract -> this will write a larger single 4.1GB file with MPEG2-TS format
5. I used the FREESTUDIO software (I downloaded both the "Free Video to DVD Converter" and "Free DVD Video Burner" programs) to convert the MPEG2-TS to DVD NTSC format (you can choose Higher quality conversion which resulted in 7.88GB folder. If you choose standard quality, this gives you a 4.02GB folder)
6. Open FreeDVD Video Burner program. Use browse to get to the above folder. Insert a new DVD disk to the DVD writer drive. For the 7.88GB folder, you need the DVD+R DL (double or dual layer DVD disk which can write 8.5GB 240min). For the 4.2GB folder, the normal DVD+R 4.7GB 2hr disk is ok to use.
7. Click burn
8. When finish, the processing window should say completed successfully. Another smaller error window says insert a disk which I ignored.
This worked for me and I have replayed the disk on my DVD player on TV or computer. I found the high quality convert is better but the standard is not too bad if you don't have the DL dual layer disk handy or your DVD drive doesnot support it.
Note that I did all of this on Window 7 system.
Additional notes from DancyGeorgia:
With the "Free Video to DVD" tool in the Free Studio software you can choose the quality of the video and the software will show you what size DVD the video will fit on. If you see only a GREEN line at the bottom of the page, it fits on a 4.7 GB DVD. If you see a GREEN+BLUE line it requires a 8.5 GB DVD. If the line is RED at the end, then it will not fit on a 8.5 GB DVD and you must reduce the quality of the video.
The 4 GB or 1 GB Kiev videos will fit on a 8.5 GB dual layer DVD with: DVD NTSC Widescreen High Quality DVD NTSC High Quality
The 4 GB or 1 GB Kiev videos will fit on a 4.7 GB single layer DVD with: DVD NTSC Widescreen Standard Quality DVD NTSC Standard Quality
Note that how the Widescreen & other option look on your TV is different. You might want to try each.

Obtaining the highest quality audio recordings of Moscow concert:The FLAC recordings from Moscow are absolutely beautiful!! They were recorded with better audio recording equipment. The FLAC format preserves the highest quality of audio in a "loss-less" format. You can convert these files to the "lossy" MP3 or other format. Thanks so much to Talon for providing these to us! The files can be download from his MediaFire site at: www.mediafire.com/?ytz6inwt9jq8pThe FLAC files cannot be played in iTunes - Apple does not provide the audio codec (software to process the audio format). FLAC files can be play in Windows Media Player if you download the codec and follow the instructions at: www.howtogeek.com/howto/13843/how....-center-player/FLAC files can be played directly in the free VLC media play which is available for Windows, Mac, & Linux at: www.vlcmediaplayer.org/To play the FLAC files in VLC, clidk the tiny VLC Menu button in the top left corner, then select Open Media, then Open Folder. Find the folder with the FLAC files and it will put all files on a playlist and play through the list. Note: When I played the FLAC files on Windows Media Player I heard beautiful distortion free sound. When I played them on VLC some were distorted. Not sure that the problem is with this. So I recommend following the link above for adding FLAC playing ability to WMP. Here's a link for instructions for converting FLAC to MP3 on Windows (I haven't tried this yet). www.makeuseof.com/tag/convert-flac-mp3-music-portable/And a few Android phone apps that will play FLAC files are: PowerAmp PlayerPro Winamp Pro

What is the best software for making DVDs from videos? For making DVDs, I tried the free software, Free Studio, suggested by indigobay and it works fine with both the 4 GB (TS format) & 1 GB (MP4 format) Kiev videos. It is very basic and does no let you specify bookmarks for chapters, but if you put in more than 1 video it has a separate menu item for each. The main menu of the DVD is just a simple list of videos and does not have fancy graphic backgrounds or background music, etc. www.dvdvideosoft.com/free-dvd-video-software.htm/ ETA: Another recommended free software for making DVDs is DVDFlick. This software has a feature for adding menus to the DVD.
www.dvdflick.net/
End ETAI tried the free Windows DVD Maker that comes on Windows 7 and it would not read either the 1 GB (MP4 format) nor the 4 GB (TS format) Kiev files. I also tried the commerical Roxio MyDVD which would not read the 1 GB MP4 file and converted the 4 GB TS file incorrectly to MPEG. (The actual video files on a DVD have the VOB extension, but they are really MPEG files, just renamed. You can copy a VOB file from a DVD, rename it to a MPG file and it will pay in any video player.) For making DVDs with fancy menus, there are so many different softwares. One that was suggested by the QueenZone folks because it allows some audio editing is MPEG Video Wizard DVD 5.0 which costs $99: www.womble.com/products/There are other commerical products for basic video editing both less and more expensive - generally in the $49-$99 range but sometimes up to $149. I think Adobe Premier is fairly popular. I used an older version and it was OK but not as intuitive as the old Ulead product I used regularly. My old Ulead product would not read the MP4 or TS files. Ulead has since been bought out by Corel and I don't know if the new Corel VideoStudio is any better. Here are a few review articles that will compare some of these products: dvd-authoring-software-review.toptenreviews.com/www.laptopmag.com/best-video-editing-software/
