2006 LIVE PART I: QPR NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
After a teaser by playing two US dates, the band decided to push the button on a full North American tour. Unfortunately no one told the US. Little to no promotion led some fans to cry afterwards that they had no idea the band was on a tour in the US until after the fact. Still, some areas sold quite well as Queen still had some roots.
The band changed the setlist a bit from their 2005 jaunts but not by a whole heckuva lot. They dropped some of the hits that well...weren't hits in America (I Want To Break Free was dropped midway through, A Kind Of Magic was dropped, '39 was dropped after four gigs, Say It's Not True after 1). What did they add. Well they added a few of the more popular Paul tracks such as Bad Company. They also made Under Pressure a standard as well as adding Dragon Attack to the set for the first time since 1985. More importantly at the time was that the band decided to add a *NEW* song to the tour. A song mostly written by Paul called "Take Love" made it's debut and was performed throughout the tour. It was thought the band would record a studio version and while they did attempt to for the 2008 studio album, they were never satisfied with it so we are left with the live takes!
On a sad personal note, I regret that I could not make it to any of these gigs as the ones that were closest to me were right around the time my wife was due with our third child so I could not take the risk of leaving her and she certainly wasn't taking a road trip from Albany to Buffalo or Philadelphia!
BUT it is sad to me :( Oh well...I'm making up for it in 2014 with 3 gigs so that should suffice!

-- NOTE it is during this gig that Brian May had a scary accident. When they go from Last Horizon to Bad Company Paul would rise from a pit with a piano to start the song. Well Brian got too close to the edge and fell in on top of the piano. But Brian's too professional...he never stopped playing!

NEXT? 2006 LIVE MISCELLANEOUS including one BIG QPR gig that is one of my favs and a few others as well!
. One of my favorites was Bryan Adams doing Fat Bottomed Girls (when at the end, the other guest - Andy Serkis (Gollum's voice) sang the "get on your bikes and ride precious yes yes" in Gollum's voice. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a vid! Ahh well.
