OK guys, sorry to ask this because I don't know if it's people from here or not but if any of you know the glamberts who are buying up all the copies of Trespassing in the stores in London will you please ask them nicely to freakin' well stop! While I know they have good intentions, they are preventing UK people from buying the album. I know three people who went out in London to buy today and couldn't get any because people have been multi-buying. A load of Americans buying up all the copies is not going to convince the store managers that there is a huge British demand. Just please. Buy one copy and just stop. Sorry, but how do we know it's only Americans buying up all the copies? Could there really be so many American there that they are clearing out the stock in all the stores? I have been reading of UK fangroups buying as well. And then there is the general public. Perhaps the general public is also buying the CD? And sorry, but demand is demand. He is going high in itunes. These stores are savvy corporations who aren't making judgments on a few days of buying from Americans, if that is the case, and I am not convinced. Telling people to reduce their purchases is counterproductive. The stores will restock and everyone who wants a copy will be able to buy one, regardless of their nationality. The higher his numbers are out of the gate, the better...regardless of WHO is buying the CD. The first week numbers are extremely important.

Yes but it's important that people in the UK are aware of Adam's music. So when they go out to buy and it's not there, they might think "Eh, screw it" and won't go back. But anyway, a sale is a sale no matter what

It is kinda amusing that Adam being the new judge is the story that everyone in the media is focusing on. The mentions of Katy, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus and Will. I. Am are kind of an afterthought, not the headline.
As far as the UK stores running out of supply, wasn't it reported they didn't stock a lot of copies to begin with since he's not well known? So, they'll restock. Not to mention, anyone can get it on iTunes and if the UK is like most other places, digitally is where most people get their music now anyway.

We know it's American women because store clerks have been telling people that. The iTunes effort is completely different from buying up all the store copies. Because guess what? iTunes doesn't run out of stock. Edited by modAlso fyi, multiple copy buying of any album in one store counts as one sale not multiple sales for that week's numbers, unless you buy every copy with a different card. The sales count towards the overall sales total later down the line but they DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS FIRST WEEK SALES. This is not a secret, it's pretty much common knowledge for anyone who knows anything about how the charts work. It's the same way in the US with the Billboard charts. They do that to prevent labels & artists trying to falsely boost sales.

So even if they tell the clerk to log it seperately, it still counts as one? Cause I saw someone on twitter buying 10 copies at 1 HMV store. Yikes

You can get around it by paying in separate transactions for each one in cash though. Up to 10 copies I believe. Any more then the store are legally bound to report the multiple buying.

HOWEVER, the tone of your posts makes it seem like the US fans are being selfish and greedy, when that is not the case at all. They are trying to help Adam be successful. A more useful approach is to educate fans on how they can make sales count, since that's the goal.
