Wow. Color me surprised. I would say don't get too too excited yet...but that's a great sign. I didn't think it was quite going to be the time but it is perfect promo at this point for Adam if it does happen. If it happens I will very happy for you guys . Great King Rat is still extremely doubtful. Just remember they soundchecked Drowse last year too though so temper the enthusiasm- although that would be a BIG surprise (and I will probably like the song much better )

:D and I was like "wot da heck is Lola?", stupid autocorrect)) Auto correct can add a really interesting spin on things, can't it... Yes it can...and Lola would be a great rock and roll band name :D BTW that is the BBC version I meant earlier... I would LOVE to see it added....Adam would do a great job on this....

Thanks for posting that. I hadn't seen that and that was a fun interview...I was glad to see Rog and Bri there - that must have taken place right before the QAL gig I saw that night :D I have to admit when they started with the acoustic FBG and Roger was in the middle that ROger would either join up or take lead on the vocals. He did sing lead ONCE in a charity gig - but no footage/recording ever surfaced But it was funny how Bri and Rog say it was great that they even remembered the words since they always forget the words at one point or another. A really really talented group that if you enjoy Queen or QAL you should see if they come around you. Tyler Warren is supremely talented. He's the drummer and he's playing guitar during this interview...he does a great I'm In Love With My Car also. Fun group.

^. They DID play on the same bill once . With a Pre-Queen band Lola but unfortunately not together. A true inspiration for Queen. When Hendrix died the band did an all Jimi run through at rehearsal - ahh to have been a fly on the wall Really? Never heard about Lola...only Ibex or Wreckage for Freddie and Smile for Bri and Rog) *** To continue a long-time conversation about what we would like Adam to sing from the Queen catalogue, IDK if it was mentionned before, but I would die if Adam sang these two little songs: Nevermore and Lily of The Valley. Die, because I don't even imagine how he could do this, Freddie's voice here is so tendre... just saying, I know that's not even remotely possible, but these are my absolute favs... wonder if it's even healthy to have such feelings for a song))) Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy would be nice too, but I'm sure this was discussed before))) www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AC86_BQnOwwww.youtube.com/watch?v=2LGujYR8omQLol. Auto correct. Lola is not a pre Queen band. Lola was meant to be lol! Ha! It was however a pre Queen band called 1984 which featured Brian and Tim Staffell who would then go on to form Smile I love Queen's short tender snippet songs . I'm on my phone so can't get the link but for a slightly nice but powerful alternative YouTube Nevermore BBC version. A nice version as well!! And for the record additional pre Queen: Freddie - the Hassles / Sour Milk Sea John - Art / The Oppisition / The New Opposition Roger - The Bubblingover Boys / The Reaction

(Personally I'm a-ok if it's been left behind though I'm sure it's there ) Although in all seriousness this is the same crowd that pelted Freddie for dressing in his I Want To Break Free dress with fake tits and all so quickly that Fred had to quickly disrobe from that to continue the song...so maybe the lounge won't go over as well with this audience and maybe B&R were conscious of that... Granted it's because audiences saw Break Free as protest against dictactorship song and so did not get the joke...AND it's 30 years later...but just maybe it gave them pause....

I am going to make my case for Lucy being the big surprise. I know that it is highly unlikely and that the case for it not being played has been viable and well-thought out, so I am not really expecting a response, just laying out my case. The biggest reason given is that Adam did not want to introduce his music into the Queen repertoire and I can understand that: 1. At the time he only had two albums to draw upon, both of which were well in the past and not promotion material. Also, they really did not include any obvious Queen-like material, being primarily pop music. Sure there were some pop-rockish tracks but again, promo was well in the past. 2. Adam was invested in the success of the tour and understood that the audience was coming to hear Queen music. Certainly a significant portion of the audience was also coming to hear Adam, but those people probably wouldn't care if Adam sang the phone book. He wanted Queen's amazing catalog of music to be the focus. 3. Adam was not sure how he would be received by Queen die-hard fans and did not want mess with the delicate balance that winning them over would require.
But now I think Adam has good reasons to change his mind. Since then he does have an album to promote, the tour is a confirmed blazing success, and overall the Queen fans now have mostly accepted him. His album, which came out months ago, also has a song that features Brian May. Individually every member of the band has had more than enough time to learn one new song. They may be over 60 but "old" people like to learn new things, it keeps them fresh, I should know. Adam might even appreciate thought being put into a concert version of Lucy for the future, although considering the source that might be pretty intimidating for Adam's potential band members. Here, play this solo like Brian May ... ??? and by the way here is the YT for guidance. Anyway, I think there is a much better case for playing an Adam song during a Queen/Adam Lambert than there has ever been. Am I expecting them to play Lucy, definitely not. Would I be overjoyed if they did, absolutely. Let me just say I don't think it's impossible. It is a good argument. My gut still says no chance though. More likely to get an improv short version - a playful riff by Brian and Adam throwing In a Lucy ala whole lotta love...

Quick question from those in the know...the Princes of the Universe on Twitter rumor...When/where did it start? Was it wishful thinking or was there some rumor/detail that led people to start pushing for it? I just can't see it happening at this juncture. They've NEVER played it live and as Brian has said they don't have a ton of time to rehearse and it's a fast paced track. For example, Las Palabras they did in 08 with everyone but Neil so I think it would be easy enough to resurrect - especially since it's not an overly complicated track. It's another reason we won't get Innuendo, Prophet's Song, It's Late, or probably White Queen. Not enough time to pull together... based o AND it won't be Lucy. I would eat my hat if it was Lucy for NUMEROUS reason. a. Nostalgic gig at Rock In Rio won't include a new song. b. Adam seems not to want to cross over projects - and the band doesn't show much interest either. c. Again not a lot of time to rehearse when the band doesn't know the track at all and even Brian honestly probably threw a solo down but would have to re-learn it all and get solid. The Princes of the Universe rumor is based on a guess. I completely agree -- they will not perform "Lucy". I am certain that Adam is the one who does not want to mix his music with Queen + AL. Brian said in an interview that they were open to playing some of Adam's music but Adam did not want to. They appear to be planning to add at least one song based on Brian's post -- and I bet it will be a 70's song since this is the Queen music that is most popular in South America. Thanks (to you as well adamrocks) for the Princes of the Universe rumor check :D As far as the other song...you don't think it's Las Palabras? I think it wouldn't have been called a surprise if Brian decided just to slip it into the accoustic section but a full band version with Adam singing to me just makes the most sense and would fill Brian's definition of a big surprise (even if it doesn't fill ours)... A 70s song? Not sure what else they would pull out that would constitute a surprise and be possible...I do think that it's an Adam song. I don't think them throwing together a non-Adam involved track is going to happen. Brian may throw Long Away or something in his acoustic section but wouldn't label it as a big surprise. Further unlikely RT switching up on his DooL/AKOM rotation with something Tenement Funster or even Drowse (despite the rumored run through) is highly unlikely (maybe changing it with I'm In Love With My Car - but again not a "BIG" surprise. I mean quickly look: Queen (1973) - Liar? Only real possibility but a lot of work in short time is doubtful. Queen II (1974) - White Queen or Ogre Battle? Not enough time for the latter. WQ still seems pie in the sky. Sheer Heart Attack (1974) Brighton Rock Full Version - just doesn't seem likely enough. A Night at the Opera - Best Friend or Death on Two Legs - possible but unlikely A Day at the Races - You Take My Breath Away - if they've convinced Adam I guess this could be it... News of the World - Sheer Heart Attack or Spread Your Wings the only real possibilities here but to me still less likely than Palabras Jazz - Let Me Entertain You? That could work I guess - it would work for Adam. So looking over that list I still think Palabras is the surprise although You Take My Breath Away or Let Me Entertain You wouldn't be too far behind....

So, this would be Spike playing piano during Queen's first Rock 'n Rio concert? He must be feeling very nostalgic too! Yes Spike joined the band during the 1984 Works tour and has been with them ever since! (Including with The Cross and The Brian May Band)
