For the record - I don't think Brian is calling it a whistle...merely calling it a whistle riff as it is whistle sounding. To me it sounds like a computerized effect...it MAY be Adam's whistling and put through some kind of processor/effects thing.

Glad to see you all are having a great time :D You deserve it!
Not going to comment on an 8 second clip as it's not enough for me to judge...I will hesitantly say that the production sounds a little...warmer than Trespassing which is good imo.
That was a great interview!
Interesting that it's "restraint" he's going with...Not sure if that will be good or not - i'll have to see...sometimes I like hearing him go all out (STL), sometimes...(WATC) it's a bit much - so it kind of depends on the music :D
I did personally pick up on:
That sounds like more than Rio or even just a few South American dates are in store.....but maybe that's just me being optimistic...

Sheer Heart Attack
Played live til 1982 and then dropped. Foo Fighters VIDFoo Fighters
James Labrie (of Dream Theater)
Valensia
I'm at work so I'm not certain about that Foo Fighters vid if it's legit or if it'll work as it's not YT. BUT I know the Foo's have played and Roger sat in on drums. This is a tune right up the Foo's alley but... Valensia - a good singer....not as much a rocker though so.... James LaBrie - Fits well. A classically trained metal singer. Works well. Verdict: James LaBrie

We Are The Champions Like WWRY performed at every Queen function and one of the holy three... Again not counting the covers not including a Queen member like Gavin Degraw, Green Day, Queen Extravaganza, Jay Z, Paul Shortino, Styx, Newfound Glory, among others, or Hank Marvin (he does perform with Brian but does not sing) WITH Queen members: Robbie Williams - This is not live. This was a BIG deal as it was the first studio recording by Brian and Roger as Queen after John had retired. John famously was not thrilled with this version saying some not-so-nice things about Robbie to someone, not knowing they were a reporter. Brian and Roger did consider a tour with Robbie but reportedly (and I can't confirm) Roger wasn't so sure that they could count on him to stick it out so they didn't go through with it. Liza Minelli
Will Young
Anastacia
Paul Rodgers
Trijntje Oosterhuis
Zucchero
Zemfira
Kerry Ellis
Kris Allen (oh and Adam here too... Adam gets his own next )
Adam Lambert
Whew! Let's cut out those not worth talking about...Kris Allen, Trinjtnje, Will Young (Pop Idol winner), Zemfira. That would be first out. Next. Anastacia is decent for a pop star. She has a nice sultry voice that works to a degree but it's not quite right for the song. Also in that category is Liza. That one is a bit sentimental and I will let it slide because she was one of Freddie's absolute favs and heroes so I KNOW he would have loved her doing his song... Kerry Ellis does a decent job despite her musical theater strength. So it comes down to: Robbie Williams vs Zucchero vs Paul Rodgers vs Adam Lambert Zucchero actually is one of my favs. He doesn't have a great voice but no one has much fun as he does when singing...especially as Italian is his native languge! BIG Queen fan and friend of Brians. But I will eliminate him here. Adam. Well this is where I may be tarred and feathered. Sorry nica and others...I *HATE* those runs with a passion. It's just not that kind of song. They work in Somebody To Love and they work in a ton of other pop songs. WATC is not that song. So even when he does a good job he ruins it with those runs. My favorite version of Adam's is probably the one when he was sick and didn't do the runs! Paul - Not a bad job, but not really spectacular either. His voice is too bluesy for it and it tries to turn it into something it's not. Robbie - Sorry John, I actually dig the new version (with Brian's new solo) and I appreciate what's done...I think Robbie is not exactly rock either but he has a bit of the growl to him. Verdict: Robbie Williams
In the SUBcontest...in this case those runs...sorry. Paul wins 2-1 Paul.

This one might be a little long.... We Will Rock You Played ever since it was written - one of Queen's signature songs... I will not count all of the countless non-Queen covers....such as: Paul Diano, Styx, Def Leppard, Faith No More, Macy Gray, Paul Shortino, NKOTB, Nickelback, Linda Rondstadt, Snoop Dogg, Valensia, Warrant, Robbie Williams, Robin Zander, et. al. A ton. 5ive
John Farnham
Pink/Britney Spears/Beyonce
Axl Rose
Anastasia
Paul Rodgers
Tom Jones
Adam Lambert
Kerry Ellis
Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance)
Dappy
Ok. 5ive is a joke - although I did like the staging in the video above taken from The Brit Awards with Brian and Roger's surprise appearance...the first time they appeared as Queen since their last performance with John Deacon and Elton John about 3 years previously...BUT forget 5ive. Axl is another one I don't like - although I do like him more on the fast version of the tune.... Kerry simply doesn't belong singing WWRY. Take all the hesitations I'd ever had about Adam singing real rock numbers and multiply by about 100 for Kerry. Same for Tom Jones and Dappy Gerard Way was decent enough but not enough to win. Pink was great to be honest and I'd like to have heard her take on the whole song instead of one verse and then Britney and Beyonce not having a clue. That leaves John Farnham, Paul Rodgers, and Adam Lambert. One reason I would lean towards Farnham actually has little to do with singing honestly - it's my favorite arrangement of the track! BUT that's not enough so it comes down to Paul vs. Adam. I like Paul singing rockers better....although his Queen will rock you was a litlte..strange SO I think I will give Adam this one...it's a pretty straight forward performance as Adam goes and it works. Verdict: Adam
AND in the little sub-contest - Paul 1 - Adam 1

Drowse is a no-go so we move on to Teo Toriatte (Let Us Cling Together)
The band basically played this whenever they went to Japan. Brian continued on his tours and then QPR and QAL both also continued the tradition. However with QPR Paul did help out on vocals. He sang the bridge and ending section (quite nicely too!) but I can't find a working YT clip of it.
BUT that makes it easy...
VERDICT:
Paul Rodgers

So glad it's this and not running for office. I think little good would come for Brian if he ran for office!

I don't know if it was sold out but it most likely was... I'm fairly certain that Brian's involvement was a..."surprise" at least to most casual observers. Most fans know that Brian tends to show up at premieres, closing dates, and special occasions...Roger does too on rarer occasion He does have a lot on his plate! As always :D Thanks for the voting link - I hadn't seen that yet and rarely see Roger in a poll!

Last night Brian performed at the Hamburg Premiere of We Will Rock You in his usual slot - He comes up during the guitar solo of Bo Rhap and then back on for the headbanging section and finale. It's quite likely he played with the cast during the cast party afterwards - as that happens often but no confirmation on that. As always great pics from Thilo Rahn! More Pics from Thilo from the Hamburg WWRY Premiere

I didn't know this. Talon did you know about this? 51 Degrees North @51degreesmovie Film about Damon Miller who is tasked to capture the end of the world before an Asteroid impact. #51degreesmovie Original music composed by @drbrianmay
London · 51DegreesMovie.com
Yes I did. But no word on any release of soundtrack or even a release date for the movie. It got an airing at the Starmus Festival last summer. They are still looking for funds to completely finish it. Also Roger did the soundtrack for a movie called Solitary which is debuting in April and stars roger's wife, son Felix and Anita Dobson! No word on any soundtrack release...
