The final picture! Over 13 Photoshop layers for this one! I built upwards from the ice palace foundations in Picture 3, and basically worked on them until I didn't know what to do with them anymore. I hope they turned out okay. It's a good thing that Adam's so fabulously manly, or I don't think he could pull off this rather ambiguous outfit. And, as Kurt (and Blaine) from 'Glee' pointed out, his hair is "so full and thick, he doesn't have to rely on hair gel". The gel was actually keeping his hair DOWN before he ran his hand through it once, and it turned out this way. The Ice King outfit is the third time I've given my depiction of Adam a vest of this sort, I quite like the look on him. I've modified the design of the bodice a little from the first version in 'Frozen Kradam', because my tailoring instincts were screaming about how the outfit made no sense, especially if you wanted a non-complex way of putting it on. I argued that it was a MAGICAL garment and it didn't need to make sense, because he can just conjure it on and switch up the design whenever he wanted. Besides, I refused to have the gauze 'skirt' split in the middle instead - I thought the asymmetrical look was cool. That didn't shut the instincts up, so now he has a vest, which hides the seam joining the two different materials that make up the long, see- through(!) tunic. I can see each consecutive Frozen Adam drawing of mine having very slight variations in design, because I'm lazy with replication, and Adam is Adam no matter what universe I throw him in.

This took me a month to get around to finishing!! I'm super annoyed with this drawing (because it was so much work), but also super happy with it. Somewhere between watching 'Frozen' much later than everyone else and now, I became obsessed with the movie as well as 'Let It Go', and I just had to cross it with my other great love, Adam Lambert. Here are four scenes depicting Adam's transformation into the Ice King as he sings. Made entirely in Adobe Photoshop with my trusty tablet. Hope you like it!

Zoom in to the max to enjoy the detail work. xD (all via links to Deviant Art sight ~ladyoz) The individual pictures, together with their work-in-progress images and my commentary, are also uploaded to my gallery.

Artist's Comment :
Adam's just only realizing that he can basically do what he likes with his powers and his life, and he's still a little nervous about cutting loose, so there's not much going on here visually (but those snowflakes are real pretty!). I spent a lot of time on the costume design more than anything else here - I wanted to try and stay faithful to the original design on Elsa, but make it suitable for a King of that time period to wear (also, it had to convincingly into the Ice King outfit, which I did first in 'Frozen Kradam'). I wanted to put a sash on him, but didn't want to obscure the pattern. I'm not so sure about the crown now, but it's not like all Kings have to wear a block of iron on their heads... Ultimately, I didn't want the coronation outfit to suit Adam. He can't really look bad in anything, but I wanted a look that wasn't his style, which he only wore because he had to. The hair is heavily inspired by the Fiasco mag photoshoot.
