IF YOU ARE READING THIS NOW, COME BACK TO THE MOON GARDEN LATER, THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS...............OK, Done now.........
Yesterday in the main thread, we lost another member, graciejane. She got called out on her opinion, and deleted her account.
I was going back through the Moon Garden thread, and saw that we have lost several other members that used to post here as well. For a while we lost gelly and aleksandrakv, and even juniemoon. Mszue and winter have not come back yet. And I am personally responsible for running off isitjustme from this board a few weeks back, although I wasn't trying to, and did my utmost to get her to come back. But, I said something that made her feel bad, and she left, just like graciejane did yesterday, and the others I mentioned above. There are a whole slew of others that used to be regulars, that have either left or just don't post at all or not much anymore. To name a few: nikki, chunkeymonkey, durberville, budersnookie, NoAngel, and on and on and on.........
I don't know what is going on, but I think that holst had a clue, even though she claims to be clueless.

Mahalia, I had to nod my head about you not understanding why people have gotten upset and left Atop, etc. Sometimes I feel like I must be living on the moon when I learn that people have left and are all upset. I don't understand what happened that they are upset about. It's either the moon or else it feels like I'm the last one to know about any gossip at work where there is all sorts of stuff going on that I've been clueless about--and I pretty much read the daily news thread each day.
All I know is that even during Planet Fierce days (the predecessor of Atop) people left upset or disappointed about something, just faded away, or just lurk. I could name numerous such member/former members--most of them very entertaining. I guess some of them have just moved to twitter. I wonder if this board serves a temporary purpose for some people, and then they need to move on. I've noticed through the years that some new members become prolific posters and then either leave or lurk. Maybe it's burnout. Maybe it's an important outlet in the beginning to find like-minded people. I, myself, don't talk about my fandom much outside of Atop because the people I know would think I have lost my mind. Then, the intense interest in posting fades a bit.
It did seem to me that during this summer, there were some members who seemed a bit combative, or at least argumentative in an unpleasant way. But I pretty much learned not to pay much attention to those people. Maybe I don't understand the departures because I haven't be part of the verbal sparring. Cause I usually just say mundane things. I wish some of our latent members would re-appear.
Well, that's the most I've written in ages. I remain, as ever, CLUELESS.

Every now and then I find myself wanting to say (on the main board and, now, here) that there are always - I think - more people reading than posting. That thought has helped take some of the sting out of things for me when communication goes awry.
I read Atop posts almost every day (hmm . . . I suppose I need to think about that), but I don't post as often because . . . it can be kind of hard! To say something worthwhile, to get the words right, etc. Especially when the topic is not 100% pure squee - which I also enjoy and do.
So, simply, thanks to all of you putting it out there - where sometimes it gets bumped into, stepped on, or seemingly ignored.

I’m a lurker and a seldom poster. Putting a post up on the board is kind of like putting a video on youtube of yourself dancing around the living room. You come back an hour later wondering if you got jeers or cheers. I admit to major crestfallenness when I come back to nothing, it’s like being invisible. And then when someone disagrees with you, oh my. The hackles go up and you have to decide on whether to fight or to fly. I usually settle down and figure someone else will answer them if it’s worth it and if they don’t then it really didn’t matter. Of course I want instant gratification and on those rare occasions where the cheers come fast and furious, ahh it feels good.

atop.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=inspired&action=display&thread=956&page=54#ixzz2AoJzQqpIIt looks to me like the people that leave are taking things way too personally, and are getting their feelings trampled on, when they shouldn't. And now I am going to probably trespass on an Atop rule: you don't have to take things so seriously, and you don't have let someone else's response to your comment offend you. It is your choice how you react to what is said or not said, or how it is answered. Everyone has their own opinion about what they see and hear, and they have their own interpretations. Not everyone will agree, as most observations are subjective. Just because someone doesn't agree with your perspective, doesn't mean that you should run away.
I guess I just don't really understand why some people feel vulnerable in posting their thoughts and opinions. I don't understand why it would be scary, but to some it is.
This board used to be a really fun and hillarious place. Maybe it was because we were all new to the fandom at that time. I joined PF in March 2010, about 6(?) months after it started, and have been here ever since. We get new to Adam fans here all the time, so it is always fun to watch and see how excited they are to be here. (I'm looking at you, albiku!)
But, for a lot of us, the newness has worn off. Thus the seriousness of charts, spins, placement or not on radio, reflects the knowledge of the business that we have gained over the past 3 years, and how earnest we all are to get Adam the radio play and recoginition he deserves. It can really get you down if you let it, to see your idol not getting the accolades he deserves. People are very passionate, and very serious about their input, and the fallout from it.
I don't have any answers, I just wanted to make some observations about what has been going on lately on this board. People seem to be more confrontational, people seem to be more sensitive, and people seem to be more vulnerable.
I have a lot of fun here, and it is a place for me to find out about what Adam is up to, and to get connected with other fans. From the 102.9 interview this morning, Glamberts have created an incredible community, and Adamtopia is a very special place in my heart.
www.1029now.com/pages/texastango/recap.html?dontcacheme=1Can't we just all get along and enjoy the incredible Adam Fucking Lambert?
I hope we don't loose more people!
