Wanted to add something to the Sam Smith vocal discussion, because comparisons with Adam are made. Sam has two hurdles, one is the immediate operation and recovery. Vocal cord surgery is risky, so is re-injury during the healing period. But the bigger question for Sam is, whether he will ever be able to sing his own material again in a way comparable to what he has been doing. If squeezing certain high notes causes vocal cord injury, then he will need to stay away from doing it. It's that simple. Just like people have to give up sports like tennis or skiing, because of a major knee injury, it becomes a question, whether Sam at his age can learn to sing those notes within his own songs correctly, rather than squeezing them? He is still quite young, I think he is still able to learn, if he is willing to go back to the basics and relearn from the ground up. It will take time. Lots of time. But, of course, then he will sound differently. And will a pop audience want to hear the more open (unsqueezed) sound? One of the difficult things is that to many people, the wrong technique sounds more sophisticated, and they wrongly assume that when it sounds open and easy-flowing, as Adam's vocals tend to sound, that that must just be less sophisticated, when actually the opposite is true. It is very sad to read, what bad coaching Sam has received in his youth, how wrongly he were guided, and I am so thankful, that the same did not happen to Adam. He had fantastic coaches, who guided him right. The translation into pop chart records may not always be immediate, but slow and steady, Adam is winning over more and more people, and fine-tuning his music and his presentation....he will get there, and it is a pleasure to see him more and more appreciated for the artistry he brings to the world of music, including his exceptional and unusual vocal sounds. Thank you for this. I have not even thought about it, that of course Sam had to relearn using his voice after so many weeks not using it and the OP. My dear friend is a fan of this exact "squeezed" Sound that he has, so i hope she still likes him when he is learning a proper and better technique.

OMG, going from the old lady witch hunt yesterday to the etiquette police of today and I'm just not sure I'm going to survive this era. It is seriously making me crazy. I was having conversations with Adam today (in my head of course) and getting teary eyed describing what was happening. It just reminds me of my chickens. I have a sweet girl who stopped laying last year, her feathers all fell out and even though they have an acre to roam on the other chickens, especially the two oldest ones of which I call one the boss and the other the enforcer, just can't pass up the opportunity to push her to the ground, hop on her back, and peck her. This winter she spent most of her time alone while the other chickens were off in their pack and every once in a while she still sit in the next box hoping against hope to lay an egg. Well long story short I did buy her some fertilized eggs and it took her a week longer of sitting on them than normal but she now has a family to raise. You'd think that this might make the rest of the chickens a bit more sympathetic, but no. Although she is very protective of her chicks, she just doesn't have the right stuff for those other chickens to leave her alone. Can you imagine being stood on and pecked at while you are worried about what the other chickens might be doing to your kids? I've put an end to it. They've been locked in their own bitty hen jail and I've left the stock pot option still open on the table. Dear Jablea, i love your Story. I have chickens, too. Some of them are mean Little Bi******.
I don't think anyone here, that critize some of the ladies in this Video, want to be mean. All that is the first thought around here, is that this is the first week of Radio Promotion for Adam. First Impression ist extremly important, from everyone. Some of These Questions were not that good for first Impression. Doesn't mean anyone want to stomp others to the ground.

Jablea, these radio weeks are upsetting for many of us, even if it is for different reasons. I agree with you there. With regards to your chickens? Maybe you are putting your eggs into the wrong basket? Just wondering. ETA: talking about eggs in baskets. The UK decided to go with the conservative one this election: news.yahoo.com/conservatives-look-winners-surprise-uk-election-050532042--finance.htmlBrian May will not be a happy man this morning.

If you watch the video until the very end, it becomes obvious it is in a bar, a kind of like a private chat with Adam for a few invited fans. Not broadcast I assume. It was organized by a radio station, but not for live consumption. I agree about the second-hand embarrassment, but thankfully it will probably remain on "the YouTubes" in private recordings. I was just going to write the same thing. They are sitting around chit chatting and drinking. Looks like a very small group. Don't see any microphones. The "interviewer" was really a moderator for the event. With a small event, people usually feel more free to speak out. Maybe not be my way of being, but. . . . I keep thinking that the fans at this event could be Atop members, as were some of yesterday's fans caught in the cross-fire. Can't imagine how they are feeling.

New video to me. GeralynK geralynk 3m3 minutes ago Love this! Adam Lambert Q&A 5/5/15 San Diego w Star94.1FM via Robin Smithź youtu.be/wI8DzLwSfA8
Do some of these fans know where they are? I mean, the interviewer did not really take control of her interview either, but seriously, you are not in the back of a bar chit-chatting away among friends, you are on f'ing radio!!!!!! I am only half way through this - I had to turn it off, take a break for now.....just unbelievable. Adam can you tell us what went wrong with RCA? Compare the two labels for us.... Sure, coming right up Let's mention the competition to radio, while on an invite by radio.....GREAT!!!! Let's tell them, while on air.... Teacher, I know, I know, I know, please call on me, my hand is up, I know, I know, I know..... How can someone walk around on this planet earth for 50 + years, with such a lack of basic human etiquette, common sense, courtesy, and a sense of place or purpose. Jeeezzzzz..., once I've recovered, can someone please tell me, whether the second half of this is as bad as the first half, so I can plan the right amount of shot glasses to survive those 7 minutes....Thanks
LOL.. I was on twitter last night and the interview she's watching is good until a woman asked some question that made her wants to punch her.. I was like I don't remember watching Adam interview that has some obnoxious fans like that. I guess you're watching the same one. Maybe it's better I don't watch them.

But sometimes behavior is inappropriate. It is not going on a witch hunt to notice and be uncomfortable. There is a balance between being kind and not picking on certain fans, but also not wanting to encourage and ignore such behavior. I think because we follow every move he makes, sometimes we fans mistakenly feel like he is our personal friend and talk to him that we way. We forget he is doing a job , prompting GT.

This is a professional promo appearance for Adam. It is not a TGIF with his BFFs! Everything that happened there was recorded & will leave an impression with those radio people. I doubt it was a good impression of Adam's fans. Good point....for sure..... The impression left for media (maybe Adam too) could not have been favourable when even I as a listener was cringing. I trust that the media at this station had a favourable view of Adam. I cannot believe bringing up, not wanting Adam to be fully invested in the pop lane ! (Choke! What has Adam always wanted, what lane is this whole album about....duh! Then to debate it with Adam

Oh my goodness! Craazyforadam, I am with you! What an obnoxious audience! Had to stop watching! Was getting 2nd hand embarrassment! Sorry, This audience made me very uncomfortable. And asking Adam about wanting to go the pop music route...with an implied why....but we love you no matter what....and please don't let them change you into a bubblegum airhead...(my words) cringe. I liked the questions .. I thought they were real and to the point.. How many times Have I thought why is Adam in POP,his voice is meant for a higher calling.. The Question about changing Adam into a typical pop singer . It's an honest question.. Adam just came off as lead singer from Queen. The most difficult songs ever and he nailed them.. The questions were open and honest,I didn't cringe once.. Adam answered honestly.. I would rather hear some fan's concerns being addressed then listening to the old gay talk, nice hair, and other shallow type questions...I don't think this type of conversation would take place in an other type venue.. This seemed to be a casual, off the cuff type of get-to-gether .

This seemed to be a casual, off the cuff type of get-to-gether . I think a number of his fans wonder why Adam is in POP with that voice. Of course, I don't suppose Adam needs to be reminded that some folks want him to sing something other than pop. But it was nice to hear his response. I think he sorta addressed it in the Alice interview, too. The DJ wanted him to sing metal. Adam replied that he had a pop/metal band prior to Idol but quickly realized "I don't like metal. What one CAN sing and what one WANTS to sing are two different things." We would probably get the same answer if he was asked about opera or Broadway classics.
