I was at the Charlotte concert and it was worth what I spent. No complaints from me. It was as long as I expected it to be when I bought my tix. Comparable to GNT US. I saw Adele in concert and she performed 18 songs over about 90 minutes but she sang for only about 65 minutes. There were long breaks between songs. Same as Sam Smith. Adam takes 2 breaks for costume changes but did 3 continuous blocks of singing. It makes it very intense. I can't think of any other solo artist who does a show like this. More like an EDM DJ show in construction. **** A couple of other thoughts... 1. I momentarily got bitchy feeling when I realized this was the set list without the extra songs. Thankfully I shook it off and enjoyed the show. 2. I streamed this concert. Adam knew I was streaming the show - I was right in front of him and he saw my scr een. He knows we do this. The streams are a gift. No one pays for them. Yes, it's a matter of personal preference. Some people would rather get a high-octane, nonstop show and are satisfied with that kind of performance even it's over and done in 70 minutes. As I said before, I like to actually spend a little more time, and get a greater sense of interaction with the artist I'm paying to see, and to get the feeling that they want to spend time with their audience. That live experience with them in the same shared space is what makes the show more special to me and different from just listening to a CD or watching a concert DVD. And, again, I just don't believe the stated reason for the shorter sets and, again, if they contracted for shorter sets in some venues and not others then I believe, in fairness, that the ticket prices should reflect that fact. From the reviews of her concert, Adele does chat more and spends time connecting with her audience in other ways. That doesn't require as much physical energy as Adam's sets, but is probably also tiring on the voice. I don't want more chatting than singing from Adam, but I'd take it if it meant spending more time with him at the show. Letting it go now. What will be will be. Just to be accurate Adam's set was 1 hour 23 minutes in Charlotte. Alex was on for 30 minutes and was great. Regarding Adele -- I recorded my concert and she performed 16 songs, not 18 as I posted above.

That doesn't make sense to me. It's his show Each show has a contract which specifies how long the artist will perform or how many songs the artist will perform. I suspected that was the case last night and I am glad Soshanna confirmed that is what is going on. ETA I should have read the thread before I posted. Same thing said a number of times above. Yes, but many (me included) were speculating. We don't really know how these things work. Glad ou chimed in, as you have the insider's perspective.

I was at the show in Charlotte and it was great I'm thinking that streaming and videoing should no longer be allowed. The fury by a few over the set list and time just ruined what I considered a wonderful performance. Folks leaving loved the show. Never in my life have I judged a show by its length or how many songs were sung a great performance was all I cared about. I think I need to take a break from adamtopia. It has become a downer for me I think you raise an interesting question about streaming. I watch them, sure, but I don't feel "owed" them in any way, and I have wondered for a while if it's fair to Adam, if having it go on and on may be hurting Adam more than helping him. (Do people tape, like "Hamilton"? I don't know because I haven't been to a Broadway show but I don't think they do.) If people hadn't already seen every light effect, costume, facial expression, dance move, etc. might they be overall more awed and less inclined to feel they are not getting their money's worth if Adam doesn't sing every song they expected? I don't know. Plenty of people seem to have totally enjoyed the shorter shows, maybe because they didn't know he performed longer somewhere, sometime else, maybe just because what he does do is so good.

Mea culpa. Mea maxima culpa.
I am sometimes WAAAAY too obsessed with Adam Lambert. With his videos, interviews, appearances, tweets, paparazzi pics, rumors, cookies (I'm a diabetic but bought Oreos to support Adam), and on and on. I think I might literally be addicted to him.
And like most addicts, in seven years of following Adam, I think my addiction requires more and more and more to reach that "original high." I couldn't sleep last night. Was up at 3:30 in the morning angsting about why he cut certain songs from the set, about how long the set would be that I would hear, whether I would be able to hear him sing my favorites. Plus how the fandom was reacting to all of it. Instead of getting a good 8 hours of sleep in preparation for my wonderful, exciting, upcoming concert experience, I had insomnia and a sour stomach.
That is absurd! In one more day I am going to hear that one in a billion voice LIVE, IN THE SAME ROOM I AM IN. I am going to have the rare privilege of experiencing a voice that touches me more deeply than any I have ever heard my entire life. I will be able to hear it, and see this amazing performer for an hour at least. I am going to be bathed in that voice, showered with it. Surrounded by it. Lifted up by it.
And here I am, glued to ATop and typing this while ignoring my wonderful puppies who are pleading for my attention, and for their breakfast. Ignoring one of the biggest joys of my life while worrying about a concert that will surely be another of the joys in my life.
Get it together, Cassie! Focus on the joy!

Surely it's the inconsistency that has people confused, and understandably so IMO, as we're not talking just a song or two difference between shows, rather huge chunks missing. As I understand it, the GNT set was pretty similar throughout and in my limited experience of touring set lists, I believe it's usual for an artist to play around the same number of songs each night.
Is it possible that what Shosh and Q3 say about different contracts for different venues is correct but some venues are requiring a longer show as opposed to setting a time limit? In other words, Adam and team said they'd do 70 minutes (or whatever the shorter shows are) similar to GNT and some venues accepted this while others said "no, we want you to play closer to 90 minutes". This would explain Shosh's comment about getting more for the same price.
It's the only explanation that makes sense because other artists play longer shows in the same theatres so no way will they have set a 70 minute limit on Adam, HE will have been the one setting the limit, not the other way round.
I'm thinking the reasons for this are as previously discussed, high-energy show with no breaks for him and the need to conserve his voice for his many commitments in the months ahead. As to why he did a longer set everywhere in Oceania - I don't have a theory for that.
Anyway, however many minutes he does in Europe, I'm excited for my very first shows next month.

Very sad situation, so much anger and negativity just because a short set in a concert, life is so short, I will enjoy whatever I get, it is not that deep after all.

Adam can never meet everyone's expectations. There will always be someone who didn't get the song they wanted or thought show should be longer or he should talk more or have a better band or or or. He can't please everyone and with thanks to relentless documentation via vids of the shows a climate of disappointment is emerging that has to be disturbing to him - because you know he checks on social media stuff. Gives me a different perspective on why many artists ban or severely limit videoing of their shows - welcome to the dark side. I'm really disturbed by how angry some fans seem to be getting over this question while it appears people just going to the show with no real expectations are having a blast and raving about it... Not directing the above at anyone specifically - is just an observation. YMMV. Thank you for this. At this point it seems that no matter what answer anyone, including Adam, gives, people are still going to complain and not believe it. I don't get to any shows by anyone, so I don't know what the "standard" length of a show is, but I also don't see artists or their management having to make announcements and justify or excuse anything unless the artist is sick enough to have to cancel a show, or does something stupid like "storm off the stage." Maybe I'm being naive, but I'm going to take Shoshanna at her word.
