I quite agree the song is boring ...to me...and I never quite got how some people love it but that is the beauty of being sentient beings isn't it. That said, I do tend to prefer Adam's version. Kerry sings it straight up and lets Brian do the fun stuff where Adam does not have to do that so he plays. Kerry is a really good singer though.... Different strokes for different folks. This is one of my favorite pre-Idol performances by Adam. His tone is so light, pure and yet rich. I love his phrasing and his additions to the basic melody line. He is such a great song interpreter, and I hear real emotion and arc in his performance. Technically he is very strong, even at the tender age of 25. Kerry has a very nice voice, but it is not anything extraordinary to my ears. Nothing that makes me perk up and take notice beyond saying, "Oh, she has a nice voice. Well sung." I agree she doesn't do much with the song emotionally or melodically. Like Mad World, actually, this song is meloncholy and has limited range in the melody. I can see that it could sound boring to some, especially if the vocalist doesn't give it any twists or build an arc to it. However, Brian's guitar interlude is gorgeous. Very sensitive. I am used to him playing a wailing electric guitar, and this shows a different side of his artistry. Completely agree, Cassie. I'll add one more thing -- if Adam sang only a single note, I'd think he did it better. That's because I just melt whenever he sings anything. And when he says anything. And when he looks at anything. And when....

Frustrating! I have been trying to find out more little snippets of the Aoki song online, but he chose the debut well. I don't know if he played more than just little bits in earlier shows, but I think he played the complete song in this one. It wasn't a huge crowd, and I think exclusively consisting of young kids who were quite drunk at the moment he premiered it. That is, judging from the periscopes that I have found coming from that location. Lol. So not much chance of anyone recording the complete thing.

Well, I hate that the sound wasn't good for you and you were smushed. Too bad you weren't sitting on the row with Dancygeorgia....her short pew contained a couple larger folks and The Ryman added an extra folding seat on the end of Pit AA ..seat 13....and she was placed directly in front of me. What a pleasant surprise! I was on the end of BB. It was her lucky night.....and mine as well....as it turned out. Before the show started, I spotted a couple of fans who I knew from past experience on several occasions were going to aim for the stage and smush into Dancy, toward the center of the stage, as soon as Adam came out. I don't blame them for trying..it sometimes works out. They were a few rows in front of PattiHum and JustKaren and had a straight shot for the stage. They didn't have the VIP1 tics. Before Adam came out I leaned forward and whispered to Dancy to dart quickly to standing at the stage and spread out. lol. She did and I darted as well....pulling needacoke behind me. It worked and spreadout Dancy shrank back to normal size and luckily we were able to stand there with elbows on that Ryman hardwood thruout the whole show. I was standing a little to the left of seat 13, but was able to stay there and out of the arbitrary aisle. The other fans tried standing to my left, but security told them to sit back in their seats....then one kept going back and forth next to me during the show. ETA: Ooops I see I should go back to yesterday's thread, but just wanted to reply to coo.coo.ca.choo ADAM: Hope by now you are feeling a little better and wish you full health by Thursday! We Love You! Dancy made us promise that we'd be quiet for her audio doings so we obliged! Even with my very sore ankle, I was moving fast to get up there before others beat us to it! Whew! What a great spot right at the stage! Great recap Bama. Unfortunately, while my view was absolutely wonderful, it was not a good spot for recording audio. At the stage, I was standing behind the big speakers, so Adam's voice sounds a bit distant. And I was directly in front of the drum kit, so the drums are really loud and crisp. Well, if anyone wants to learn the drum part to Adam's songs, I have the perfect audio for that!
