www.gaytimes.co.uk/culture/56612/x-factor-brian-friedmans-top-five-moments-from-week-ten/Brian Friedman about Adam. Quite interesting read! 5. Saara Aalto and Adam Lambert — Bohemian Rhapsody by QueenAdam cannot be messed with! Out of everyone and all the people who have ranked in this top five, he’s the best vocalist out of every single one of them hands down. What I love about him is he’s so gracious with Saara. He didn’t make it about him, and he was there to support her. It was so humble and refreshing to watch. He’s literally someone who can sing anyone under the table and not try and out-sing her. He let her have her moment and I know how much Saara loves Adam, and so I reached out to Adam a month ago or maybe more and asked how he felt doing The X Factor finale if someone was strong enough. As the competition was going on, I’d send him some links of the contestants, and in my mind he’d have sung perfectly with Saara or Matt. Little did I know was that he was one of the people Saara dreamed of singing with when he was on American Idol a long time ago. To be able to make that happen for her was really cool. It was obviously a perfect pairing and the crowd went wild. I think we had a really strong final in general. Was it a conscious decision to have two openly gay artists featured together in the final of the show? Do you know what’s funny, is that I never thought that, and as you said it right now it feels really good! [Laughs] It was never my intention and that says a lot about where we’re at right now vs where it was when I was a kid. I didn’t even realise we had two out artists on that stage together. In my mind, it was two vocalists who were incredible — I totally forgot about the fact they’re both open. They just so happen to be gay and if we can keep this going on, that would be a really great way of going forward! Awwww! Love this!

I love how he also recognized Adam was gracious and didn't try to out sing her which he could have! The perfect duet partner. I know Matt won but Scherzinger was too over the top and really did outshine Matt. It may have helped him win, I don't know, but personally I didn't like that it was all about her. I could hardly hear Matt through most of the song!

Adam's comments about 'soon' make me believe and hope that he is pushing forward with the album now, and his calendar is free to do so, so I don't see any reason to believe it will take forever. June may be a bit soon, but I don't think it will take all year either. I am hoping for a single in spring.
Otherwise, here are some guesses on what else could be happening.
QAL have said on multiple occasions that they want to do something different, and given Brian's situation, I doubt they want to commit to a tour or even a leg of a tour at the moment. My guess is that BBC has found out that their New Year special with QAL was very popular and I interpret BBCMusic's sudden eagerness to tweet about Adam, that they are cooking up a TV special with QAL. Does not have to be live, but some showcase, or something similar. That could include something new, i.e. if Adam has a pop single out and they do a rock version of it. Would explain the tweet about GT all of a sudden. Something along these lines, QAL with maybe a new single of Adam thrown in, seems both more likely, and in the interest of Brian too, as he is a bit gun shy to take on a touring commitment at the moment.
Whether Brian and Roger have started writing for Adam remains the big question. If anything, I suspect it to be for Adam's album, rather than something written to publish as Queen music, or even QAL music. I am hoping for a big ballad for Adam.
Also, the film is coming along and the question of Adam's potential role in it remains open. Still hoping for that lover role.
I think that Adam will want to concentrate on his solo career at this time, and only use a showcase or film to keep the other irons in the fire, but we shall see, what he has going. Adam has always been good for a surprise or two.
I am just glad to hear that his calendar does not look as empty as the one we are keeping based on what we know. That makes me very happy.

I noticed this quote in daily news from the maximumpop interview: "I have good ideas brewing. It’s like sketches that come to life."
Do you think maybe we might have an album concept, ummmm? I love the idea - there are so very many powerful situations he could address, think Lucy from TOH. I can almost already imagine the tour. Interesting you and I had the same thought -- that phrase reminded me of Lucy and TOH. I hope that is what he means because it could be a very interesting album. It also made me happy because it is a formed concept and "ideas brewing" -- so I think he is farther down the creative path than I expect he would be considering how busy he has been this year. I did a quick look around the interwebs and did not find another album titled "Sketches" or a tour or a song. New stuff right there, so I hope that is what he means as well.

If you are correct and BBC is considering a QAL special...it would be very easy, would it not, to simply broadcast the Japanese DVD. Is that a legitimate consideration? Would help sell the DVD if they made it available in the UK as well....and would be great exposure with little to no additional effort on the part of QAL
