The comparisons between Adam and the great icons of pop/rock don't bother me. No one is saying that Justin Bieber is the next Elvis, Sam Smith is the next Freddie Mercury or Shawn Mendes is the next George Michael.
Adam has the voice, the sexiness, the looks and the theatricality to match those icons ... and then some, IMO. I'll take that recognition. In a generation, he will be the icon others are compared to.

I would love for Adam to be considered as part of the tribute, but in reality the chosen are always the very popular ones!

Yes, Cassie you are right.
But why do so many great ones have to die before there is recognition?
Some might have stayed with us longer if they had known how much we cared, loved them, and truly recognized their creativity and gifts.
The creative soul is fragile and a little love can go a long way. We blame them for their self destruction, however, they give us the shadows of their life and the joys. Sometimes the shadows overcome the joys.
They are written about and looked at as a commodity when alive. They aren't. They are unique humans, laying their heart and soul out to us.
We should try to give a little more love. Let's practice with Adam. I think we don't know how to show how much we care.......

This has been such a wonderful conversation on this whole thread. The US, and the world at large, has gone through a real upheaval in how sexuality is perceived and understood. Adam appeared on the scene right on the cusp of a new phase in gay rights issues. He came out right after he became famous on Idol (I know he'd been out since he was 18, but he came out to the whole world in 2009.) Unlike his gay predecessors, he did this BEFORE his first album debuted. Took such courage. It made him stand out from all others. He took the risk. It has resulted in ups and downs, bumps in the road. But I don't think he regrets it. Adam is honest to the core. In his relatively short time in the public eye, he has made more of an impact than I think anyone realizes at this point. I'm happy to see his name mentioned in the same context as George Michael. I would love to see Adam be part of a Grammy tribute. It would be a perfect fit. I wish some of the PTB would get the idea in their heads and run with it.
