Just read last posts on yesterday's page. Totally disagree with those who don't think Adam should be part of tribute if asked. To me, it is great that he is being embraced by larger musical community. People complain that he is not on award shows, etc, but this would be great opportunity for visibility and when his own music comes out, that many more people will know him and how incredible he is. Visibility means a lot. I KIND OF THINK IF THERE IS A TRIBUTE.. IT WOULD BE ELTON JOHN ,MADONNA ,BOY GEORGE AND OF COURSE HIS PARTNER AND FRIEND FROM WHAM... ALL FRIENDS OF GEORGE MICHAEL ...HOPE GAGA IS NOWHERE NEAR A TRUBUTE.. Sure, there are top artists who will be asked to be in the George Michael tribute. But I think Adam IS "relevant enough" to be part of that group, especially if SS in included. The list will be full of veterans with decades in the music industry, but Adam has also made an impact. As we all know he's the first gay artist on a major label to hit #1 on the Billboard charts. That's a significant milestone, IMO. I think he should be part of the tribute. Adam may not be at the top of the charts, but he's not an unknown either. I hope he is approached about it. Would be nice is Brian and Roger gave the Grammy PTB a little nudge about Adam. George performed with them on occasion and they knew him.

Adam's not "big enough" for something so high-profile as a Grammy tribute. My radio friend says he is hearing Timberlake (with Elton John obviously involved) Nothing confirmed--just a "rumbling" he heard. I don't post much these days, but I lurk a lot to see if there's any news Have to disagree bullsfan! Adam has a Grammy nomination which makes him part of the family. He just performed a George Michael song on a TV show this past summer to rave reviews, he's gay so he knows the struggle, he's worked with many of the people that George has also worked with and if there was ever a time to be seen and get "big enough" he has to do these kind of things. I hope he is asked! MAYBE WE SHOULD START A RUMBLING OURSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know, not very compelling reasons but a girl can hope!

George performed with them on occasion and they knew him. IMO it is not about if Adam is "relevant enough," it is that he has only a limited connection to him and never even met George Michael -- although they both were on the same bill in 2010 Sydney Mardi Gras. Aside from the fact that Adam and George Michael both happen to be gay and that Adam is a George Michael fan, they are not connected. Of course, there is no denying that Adam can do justice to George Michael's music. If you look at Adam fan posts, his name is mentioned related to some tribute to George Michael but if you look at George Michael fansites, you see mentions of Elton John, Madonna and (urgh) Lady Gaga. And in the UK, there are many mentions of Joe McElderry (X Factor UK 2009 winner, excellent vocalist) who never made it in the US but is popular in the UK and famously dueted with George Michael. There are so many Grammy-winning performers who knew George Michael and who worked with him like Aretha Franklin, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige and Elton John, so many artists like Madonna and Stevie Wonder who supported him after he was "outed" and so many artists who were directly inspired by him in their music like Justin Timberlake and Sam Smith, that I think it is very unlikely that Adam will be part of Grammy tribute to George Michael. While we are putting out thoughts, George Michael had so much support from American R&B artists and audiences, I certainly hope that is reflected in whatever tribute they do. The Grammy producers are very like to muck this all up anyway. My greatest wish is that the Grammy Award producers learned their lesson from turning the Bowie Tribute into a Lady Gaga promo (I will never, ever forgive them for that -- Bowie and his former bandmates deserved better), and give George Michael a tribute from people who knew him and worked with him. One final note, as far as I can tell, Brian and Roger have no influence over what the Grammy producers do. Perhaps they can influence someone at the Brit Awards.

My guess is the producers will decide who is big or relevant enough to be included in the tribute depending on how many and how it is done. They may get some feedback from Elton and the Wham member about who and why someone should be included. Whatever they do, I hope it has a better feel than the Bowie (Gaga) and Prince (Madonna) tributes which fell short. Not sure if the Prince/Madonna was at the Grammy's or someplace else. Is Elton still at odds with Madonna? If he is, I doubt they will be on it together. Elton has a lot of pull and if he does not want you there he will have his say most likely.
