Sure, there are top artists who will be asked to be in the George Michael tribute. But I think Adam IS "relevant enough" to be part of that group, especially if SS in included. The list will be full of veterans with decades in the music industry, but Adam has also made an impact. As we all know he's the first gay artist on a major label to hit #1 on the Billboard charts. That's a significant milestone, IMO. I think he should be part of the tribute. Adam may not be at the top of the charts, but he's not an unknown either. I hope he is approached about it. Would be nice is Brian and Roger gave the Grammy PTB a little nudge about Adam. George performed with them on occasion and they knew him. IMO it is not about if Adam is "relevant enough," it is that he has only a limited connection to him and never even met George Michael -- although they both were on the same bill in 2010 Sydney Mardi Gras. Aside from the fact that Adam and George Michael both happen to be gay and that Adam is a George Michael fan, they are not connected. Of course, there is no denying that Adam can do justice to George Michael's music. If you look at Adam fan posts, his name is mentioned related to some tribute to George Michael but if you look at George Michael fansites, you see mentions of Elton John, Madonna and (urgh) Lady Gaga. And in the UK, there are many mentions of Joe McElderry (X Factor UK 2009 winner, excellent vocalist) who never made it in the US but is popular in the UK and famously dueted with George Michael. There are so many Grammy-winning performers who knew George Michael and who worked with him like Aretha Franklin, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige and Elton John, so many artists like Madonna and Stevie Wonder who supported him after he was "outed" and so many artists who were directly inspired by him in their music like Justin Timberlake and Sam Smith, that I think it is very unlikely that Adam will be part of Grammy tribute to George Michael. While we are putting out thoughts, George Michael had so much support from American R&B artists and audiences, I certainly hope that is reflected in whatever tribute they do. The Grammy producers are very like to muck this all up anyway. My greatest wish is that the Grammy Award producers learned their lesson from turning the Bowie Tribute into a Lady Gaga promo (I will never, ever forgive them for that -- Bowie and his former bandmates deserved better), and give George Michael a tribute from people who knew him and worked with him. One final note, as far as I can tell, Brian and Roger have no influence over what the Grammy producers do. Perhaps they can influence someone at the Brit Awards. Why is Lady Gaga being mentioned at fansites? Did they actually meet? I am not seeing any connection between the two when I google it. Of course she never met Bowie but the Grammies wanted ratings and look how that turned out. I agree with you that is should be from people who knew him and worked with him. I still think Andrew from Wham and Elton would be the best.

But I'm just hoping they will stick with artists who had a close connection with George. If they let SS onboard, (BTW, I happen to think he's just fine.) I will be upset. He's had a huge couple of hits off of one album. No real connection with George, except that he's gay. It's sad that the death of a fellow artist can turn into competition for TV time. I'm sure some of George real artist friends are devastated. But even us Glamberts (me included) are hoping that Adam might be one of the "chosen" to perform. We often think with our hearts, not our heads.

I agree I don't think it has anything to do with Adam not being a big enough name. Or not relevant enough. More his lack of connections. Or history with GM. That reason alone I see Elton John and Wham doing it. Gagas name mentioned well because of her brand. But I think that's highley unlikely. That said Brian and Roger, are prob his only vague connection to GM. They know Elton well. So if they have a little nudge to the Grammys. Possibly. But unlikely.
