It is what it is, the past is the past, lets look ahead to the wonderful future! ITA --- so much great has happened for Adam, why rehash the few moments that were less than great!

soon?! I know I'm preaching to the choir here and people have said this before but somehow it just came to me today that if Sam Smith is successful with a ballad like "stay with me" and Adele also with her ballads..."Underneath" should have would have been a hiper-super-smash-mega hit I am not in that choir. The only thing that SWM and Underneath have in common is that they are ballads - they are not the same kind of ballad. SWM is a mid-tempo R&B ballad (84 BPM) and U is a traditional ballad (76 BPM). No hard rule on this but traditional ballads usually have a tempo range between 65-80 -- slightly more than a heartbeat. Mid tempo R&B usually between 80-100. SWM is blue-eyed soul music with updated beats. The lyrics are universal, it is a generic love song. It is the stuff that hits have been made of since the 1940's -- maybe even earlier. Guess it's true, I'm not good at a one-night stand But I still need love 'cause I'm just a man These nights never seem to go to plan I don't want you to leave, will you hold my hand? Oh, won't you stay with me? 'Cause you're all I need This ain't love it's clear to see But darling, stay with me
Underneath is the polar opposite. It is a traditional piano ballad. These songs are rarely hits. And the lyrics are heartbreaking, complex and personal, also not the kind of lyrics found in hits. It is not built to be a hit song -- it have no hook. It is not produced to be a hit song. It does not diminish it but it is an album track, not a single. "Underneath"
Strip away the flesh and bone Look beyond the lies you've known Everybody wants to talk about a freak No one wants to dig that deep Let me take you underneath
Baby, better watch your step Never mind what's on the left You're gonna see things you might not wanna see It's still not that easy for me underneath
A red river of screams Underneath Tears in my eyes Underneath Stars in my black and blue sky And underneath Under my skin Underneath, the depths of my sin Look at me Now do you see?
Welcome to my world of truth I don't wanna hide any part of me from you I'm standing here with no apologies Such a beautiful release You inside of me
A red river of screams Underneath Tears in my eyes Underneath Stars in my black and blue sky And underneath Under my skin Underneath, the depths of my sin Look at me Now do you see? Underneath, underneath, underneath... Underneath, Underneath
Welcome to my world of truth
A red river of screams Underneath Tears in my eyes Underneath Stars in my black and blue sky And underneath Under my skin Underneath, the depths of my sin Look at me Now do you see? Underneath, underneath, underneath Look at me Do you see? Yeah yeah yeah yeah!
Look at me Do you see?
Welcome to my world of truth I don't wanna hide any part of me from you
JMHO - I don't think people want to be in their cars singing "Underneath" as they head into work. There is no chance that Adam ever thought of "Underneath" as a single or as a mainstream pop hit. None. Zero. It is a fantasy -- and in my experience, a fantasy shared by Adam fans who do not buy or listen to much current music. ITA. There is also the double entendre of the lyrics, "Such a beautiful release, you inside of me". Mainstream radio wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole IMO.

I just wish more people had heard it, even if he just sang it on tour now and then. It's such a powerful song. I know it's not a sing-in-the-car song. It's pretty intense and heavy. But beautiful to me nonetheless. I'd just love hear him sing it once onstage, full-out, with that amazing voice. It's the kind of song where the moment and the atmosphere has to be just right for it to work. Kind of like with WWTLF.

I don't think we could ever know what could be a hit if it does not get lots of radio play. If record labels or Adam knew what would be a hit then everything they picked would be one.

The two tracks of his that, in my humble opinion, woulda/coulda/shoulda been hits are SHADY and FEVER. Given how things have changed over the last few years, I an not sure that the pronoun would hurt Fever today. But the real catchy one, to me, is Shady.
They are both tied to RCA so even with the 'will to do', I don't suppose those could be changed up a bit and re-released, could they? If the put out a "Best of..." album in a year or so....just hypothesizing here....could Warner include the early tracks such as Shady and Fever....would/could they make a few changes? Could those two ever see the light or day again? Also...I think Soaked has great bones but needs quite some updating....is that possible? Those are pretty awesome songs...
Just blowin in the wind...

Funny because I remember hearing Matts family were not favs if Adam. Adams brother diddnt like Matt. He sounds like one of those long lost family relatives who wants to be in your life now your rich and famous. Yeah not flying Matt. Matt helped Adam when he had all his initial twitter account troubles, they were quite often seen together goofing off during the show. They had a pleasant relationship throughout, I have no idea where you are coming from. And if there really was one family member that said something somewhere...since when are we as individuals responsible for anything anyone in our family says? Happy for you if you have your whole family having their ducks in a row, but most of us have families running all over the place, opinion-wise. I certainly would not want to be held responsible for everything that anyone within my bunch is saying. And I do not have a dysfunctional family, just a diverse one. I think that is normal for most people. So, the logic that Matt cannot contact Adam because supposedly some family member of Matt said supposedly something that you happen to perceive as off...I seriously cannot follow that logic. Anyways, I think he does his twitter contacting it in a cute way, and I hope that Adam can lend him an ear or twitter-dm for a moment, whatever it is about. Btw, surprised that I find myself standing up for Matt, I was never a fan of his at all, but my sense of fairness just kicked in, I guess. Lol I don't know why you always think your opinion is the be end and end all around here. But I was simply stating what I've heard. I'm dirty but it's convenient Matt tries to contact Adam publically via socialexja? Why not privately? I'm sorry it's suss. Don't trust the validity of his tweet at all. But in any regard does not look like you can have an opinion around here.

Can anyone recommend a WWTLF concert video that I can send to my brother to give him an idea of the spectacle that is an QAL performance. I need an inside video so the lasers, lights, and disco ball effects can be seen. Thanks for any suggestions.
