Pharaoh pictures make me feel squishy. I know he is Adam's baby so I want to pick him up and cuddle him. He is so cute. Makes me want to get a dog again. My DH and I have not recovered from the death of our dog we had for 18 years. I don't think I could face another animal death again. It totally destroyed both of us. It is devastating to lose a pet, but think of the life you could save and the joy that would bring.

That stupid little show may have been 8 years ago, but the actual issues are something to be faced every single day, by Adam and in variation by all others in the community and beyond. At times it is more hidden.
Sure, eight years ago, people were so fanatic as to invest time and effort to break into accounts, write stupid stuff about this show or Adam, tons of people got invested, pastors spewed nonsense from pulpits, the WSJ had lengthy essays on how family values would permanently be altered because of this, etc...that specific situation is in the past.
But I do think it is important to remember, that every day people made musical decisions on what to listen to or not to listen to based on orientation or perceived orientation. Djs, or the directors that make the music program decisions, the news outlets that need to decide whether to post a certain information under 'gay news' or under 'music related news', all make decisions that impact the gay community.
And beyond the music business: Children face the bullying by their peers on the school bus every day, and they find the bullies emboldened by the present political climate or certain statements that individual public figures have made.
It is not just film roles and music titles that are impacted, so is the sales job that goes to the straight applicant because he is perceived as more mainstream, assumed to appeal to a larger customer circle (and unfortunately validly so); the rental application that is granted to somebody else, because the landlord rather not have a lesbian couple in the house; the family that kicks one of their own out, because of their orientation.
We may not have the link to a thread that details that out and demonstrates the bigotry or blatant hatred, and so we don't talk about it, but it is very much there. And it makes it brave to stand up and be open, because the battle is not a one time one, like the TV show, but rather an ongoing and grinding one.
Of course there are other forms of discrimination, but as has been said, lgbt is the second most frequently and severely discriminated target overall, not a specific race, or gender or religion. The impact is far reaching, and I think, over the years, the constant daily set backs that an individual experiences may be much harder to digest than one individual loss on a game show.
The battle is far from over, and everybody needs to help push those mile-markers forward, wherever they happen to get a chance to do so, once step at a time. It is not eight years in the past.

Now more than ever. The movement to undo all the forward progress is running full steam ahead on the national level as well as in too many states. Hopefully, we can at least hold what has been gained. Scary and depressing times.
