Gotta really disagree with previous two posts, by sizzling and SophieB .
Adam knows and accepts that for some reason the straight world, or at least some of it, cares what is going on in his world including the gay world, and he lives publicly very open. But he wants to keep it real, rather than show a 'cleaned up version' thereof.
I think it is normal for people to occasionally let their guard down and not behave 'age appropriate'. I remember days when these pages were full of glambulge related posts and similar silliness, and you could also shake your head and say how age-inappropriate that was. Being silly at times, is part of life, this was our way.
Obviously, their way of being silly is different than ours, I would not enjoy their type of self-expression, but obviously, that is why I am here and not somewhere in that world.
The difference to other artists and public figures is, that Adam does not care or at least does not shrink back from being himself, to honor a certain 'public image', like most public figures do. And obviously, just like you react with a bit of 'yikes', so does of course the rest of the world. They either do not care about him or unfollow him, once they find out which way his plays his public cards. I think it is an intentional message to the world on his part, with disregard to the financial implications of this.
Every once in a while, I pick up my courage and listen for a few minutes or so to the nonsense that is spewing out of American conservative radio hosts mouth, in an attempt to grasp what the other political side is actually inhaling, and I can ensure you, their view of a few gay men getting together is that they are all deprived animals, that spend their time in depravity, having orgies where everybody seems to have 'perverted sex' with everybody. Do I know that this reflects more what is going on in the head of the radio host, rather than what is going on in the gay community? Of course. But does the average listener know? Clearly not.
Adam bravely holds his Snapchat / Instragam / whatever account up against this onslaught. I doubt that these pigs are hearing any of it, they probably would just poo-poo it, should they come across it. But I think that this is exactly where a fan community comes in. a) in holding the artist up so he is free to do so, and does not need the massive public approval that comes with being 'squeeky clean', and secondly, to occasionally, when the situation allows, to stand up for what Adam does. Not everybody listens to conservative talk radio and has their mind calcified. Some people can be educated. And Adam has in many ways taught me a thing of two about what needs to change to improve acceptance. It is not only about laws, it is about widening attitudes. And in that we have to work on ourselves, when tastes differ, but we sometimes also get a chance to put a word in for Adam and his community.
