happy ...don't worry I won't! Studying forestry and learning how nature works has only broadened and deepened my love for nature, this planet...the world. A true gift by whoever you want to believe it's from. It also made me realize how utterly disconnected we are from it as a society, generally speaking of course. Well if you like trees, google images for Garry Oak. It is a beautiful tree that only grows in this part of the world.

I see there is a long-ass recap before mine...well hang on for another!! Given how much I enjoy reading other’s recaps, I feel rather guilty for not getting to mine for such a long time. Finally…the first day since my Vancouver show, I have some time to sit at the keyboard and get at it… Our show was on Sunday, July 2…day after Canada Day…but was so excited and busy preparing for QAL that I confess to doing little for Canada day at all…150th anniversary and all!! I did have the Ottawa celebrations on my TV as I packed my cubes in prep for the suitcase. It is hard to believe how long it can take to pack for a 2 and 1/2 day trip..seriously. My companions were fiercelier[who runs a top ten Bed and Breakfast in Cobble Hill, and who was the driver] a newbie friend from Sidney [closest town to the ferry I have to catch from my small island to get to where they are…Vancouver Island] and my daughter [also a newbie] who lives in Victoria. I caught the 9:50 ferry and parked my car at Sidney friend after which we met Fiercelier on the 1pm ferry to Vancouver…. My daughter went over and spent Canada day in Vancouver with a friend so she was meeting us later. We stayed in an airbnb…which is tantamount to making a taxi-driver [fiercelier] ride in an Uber…but she was a good sport…because it was a Canuck holiday there were no BnB’s she knew, available. There is a big difference…but we were fine . My DD came to us and we shared some goodies and wine before excitedly heading off…in all our finery. We took the train rather than grapple with parking and traffic…which was a good choice I think. It is such fun to watch two people new to Adam prepare for the concert. DD was beyond excited as her seat was not with ours but on the floor…row 20, seat 39. This put her only 4 or 5 back, right at close to the end of the thrust….she knew I was a long time Adam fan but she was not, particularly…and was more excited about Queen. My Sidney friend….Teri….had been a Queen fan way back but proceeded to read and research Adam once she decided to join us. It is such fun to have someone constantly blurt out bits of info about interviews and performances from the past…and see her falling for Adam….’did you know he is such a kind person?”… did you know he used to be in Wicked? …. did you know Queen met him on Idol?….lol. Yes Teri…we knew!!! hahaha When we arrived at the Rogers Arena, there were already 2 really long lines snaking into different entrances [7pm]. The last show 3 years earlier used multiples of entrances and there were no line-ups but exterior security was definitely more than the usual. I think there is just more fear [legitimate] of terrorism that ever before and it did not help that this was our Canada Day weekend. Once we were in the venue security did not seem any different from usual. Everyone was happy….the line moved quickly…it was all good. The oddest thing was the actual entrance which felt like an airport security station…you gave over your bag for inspection, at a table, and walked through a ‘scanner’ akin to those at airport boarding security. It was quick and easy and the officials were jovial and polite so there is where the analogy ends! The who effort took less than10 minutes or so…and it was all good. Once we had our bearings, we headed straight for the merchandize. DD and I both bought a T-shirt…though really, don’t know why I do these things as I do not wear t-shirts other than as jammies and there was less merch this time than last. Oh well…I sleep with Frank now LOL….he is a cutie! We got some water and headed for our seats. The way the map makes the seat look is sometimes quite different from reality…our seats turned out to be in the middle of a row rather than on an aisle, as the map shows…and seemed much more on the side than we realized. So we were as close as anticipated and that was good….but the set ups of the show means that Adam spent more time at the other side than ours…we were on Brian’s side…and our view was skewed somewhat. Also they spent so much more time on the thrust this time that we often had to resort to the screens…that was disappointing, a little, but we still had great seats and the show was totally amazing. Now my daughter’s view was beyond the pale and she was thrilled beyond compare. Her ticket was my birthday gift to her so as soon as she found her seat, she was showering me with ‘heart’ arms et al from afar….so great to see her so happy. Then…well all I can say is…I apologize on her behalf, kryptoman…she was one of those who managed to stand right at the front of the thrust…to the side a little though so not directly in front of you. She was smart…she plonked herself there right away and nobody challenged her at all…security did not car or question her and she had the time of her life. She ‘held’ Adam’s hand during the Radio Gaga walkabout and informed us later that Adam must be wearing a cup because ‘seriously Mom, white guys are not that big!”. Well we got quite the laugh about that, as you can well imagine… Fiercelier told her..”you know rumour is…..” hahaha The ‘later’ I refer to is the time we spent regurgitating the show over wine and goodies, back at the airbnb. Teri took over 300 pics and DD took some partial videos which she promptly shared on her Facebook. A really great time was had by all! The only thing better would be if we could afford to go to multiple shows…but seriously, I enjoyed ever minute. And I think Adam has a couple of new fans! Good stuff. Fiercellier and I shopped Ikea the next day and stayed an extra night just to enjoy a few errands and a day away. It was a wonderful trip! eta....my keyboard seems to skimp on word endings sometimes...I don't know how much of it is my lazy fingers or the old keyboard getting tired, but sorry.... I don't post very often, and MsZue has done such a great recap, so not too much to add. It was great to introduce two newbies to the magic of QAL. I have a friend who was an Adam fan at the beginning but has lost interest unfortunately, so nice to have a new friend to share my few Adam adventures with! I loved the 2014 show but felt this one was so much bigger and better, not only with the awesome production, but the ease and joy on stage by Adam and the whole band. I was initially disappointed in the seats when we sat down, but they turned out pretty good once the screen was up, and while Adam favored the other side of the stage, we did get him close up a couple of times. For me, it just flew by and I can't seem to remember a lot of specifics but have all these images in my head. I really needed another show to remember everything! One image that has really stuck is Adam during the encore standing there, arm forward, seemingly just all soaking it in, and I thought "Yeah baby, this is your life and you so deserve it and belong here". I started watching all the videos in order to get a sense again of the show and relive all the details that I can't seem to recall, but am too busy with work right now. I had a father and two young boys beside me, and it sounded like they had been in Seattle the night before. Seattle seems to have been such a great show, and we almost went to that one, but I thought Adam was in excellent voice in Vancouver, happy and smiling. I planned to record WWTLF but my phone wouldn't let me, so a bit bummed about that. No meetups of any kind seem to happen in Vancouver, so it was just our little group although we knew that Kryptoman, who we met in 2014, and Happy were there. MsZue, Happy and I meet for lunch a couple of times a year, and MsZue and I were just talking about how we three are all such different people and would have never met if it wasn't for Adam. It sounds like that happens a lot all over the world, and isn't that great! I did put up a few decent pictures I took, first time I've had any luck with concert pictures, on my Facebook page. If someone wants to bring them here, please PM me and I'll give you the link.
