interesting still number 4 on my ITUNES and BTW .. I like Sam I just don't care for this song.. I'm sure it will be a major hit .. I'm always happy to see a gay singer climb the charts.. It opens the door for more talented LGBTQ artists. Adam is an uber talented LGBTQ artist. I just want him to have whatever it is that makes Sam's songs go straight to the top. Once listeners accept a MAJOR song and get it to the top, fans will often stick with that artist song after song after song. Adam has had a few moderate hits, but not big enough to sustain him song after song. I don't find Adam hard to like. Quite the opposite. Somehow, the door has to burst open bigtime. It all boils down to "that song" that a large number of people connect with. AND that song has to be sung by someone they are willing to accept. I don't think Adam is hard to like either. But what Sam has that Adam does not is massive radio play. Yes, he got most of it before he came out but he was heard and liked by so many by then. Even in the UK, he had massive hits so the US loves anyone who gets hits in the UK. The UK will hardly play Adam so no help from them. I don't think it has anything to do with Adam's songs not connecting. They will never connect if they are not heard over and over like so many others. Once you get that, everything you release will get people buying and listening even if the song sucks. His music is just as good and sometimes better than the hits. No point in chasing top 40 if they won't play it a lot anyway. It is not like Sam and Ed and Mendes and Pugh are putting out jamming in the club music but top 40 has no problem playing them into #1 hits. As much as we complain about RCA, when Barry Weiss was there he (or the radio people working for him) made sure Adam was on the radio. His radio play has not been as good since especially when the new regime took over for the Trespassing era. GT did pretty well on Warner but it did not move up the charts like WWFM did in the US. And little was done with ALN. It may not have been my preferred release but they chose it, so it should have been supported. Worse songs have done better.

Sam's new single was being played at the top of the hour on many iheart radio stations today. We've seen similar campaigns for other artists' singles. (The every hour thing.) I think P!nks single was introduced that way, and I like it very much. Other campaigns didn't deliver a hit, but apparently Sam has enough streams to get past that. Pleased to see Pinks in radio play. I can't figure out the appeal of all the Bieber collabs - how many are out there now, Despacito, and a few others. His delivery of the vocals are nothing special, it's like he's a session singer with connections. The songs don't seem to add to his artistry portfolio.

i thought Ghost Town could break through and be a big hit for Adam. It was so catchy and haunting. I loved it. And it did well and got some attention, but not great. *sigh* "Ghost Town" is the highest selling, highest radio airplay and highest streaming deep house song ever. It did fine. If Adam wants to be creative, and break some creative boundaries, which he seems committed to doing, he will probably never be like Sam Smith. But at some point, Adam just might get to stay true to his creative vision and still have a second big hit (I count WWFM as a big hit -- certainly it racked up hit airplay). I just want some new Adam music -- soon.

For me pop-music is all the "normal" modern (popular!) music that is played on the radio, also the songs from Pink, Rihanna, etc.! In opposite to this, deep house is dance-music that is mostly played in the clubs, it has a fast beat. Here are the Wikipedia-pages with detailed explanations. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_musicen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_houseAnd here are some more deep-house-tracks that were famous in the last years ...! (I love dance-/house-music!!!)

Adam's music appeals to a demographic whose taste in music hearkens back to the music that was popular at a time when we could sing along to a song. Hip hop and to a certain extent Rhythm and Blues, basically songs that are hard for us who were weaned on popular music up to the 80's to sing to, influenced the musical tastes of those who consume much of what is popular nowadays. Try singing to a Drake, Bieber, Mendez, Smith song. Because there is a gender difference between their songs and those of Beyonce, Gaga, Perry, and Adele, at least from the standpoint that I can sing or detect a melody to their songs. What I am suggesting here Adam's music is in a genre that has melody as its attraction: There I Said It, Another Lonely Night, Two Fux, Whattaya Want From Me are easily recalled once it is internalized, that is, heard multiple times. So it is with Single Ladies, A Bad Romance, or Someone Like You. The women's songs all have memorable melodies that my generation can relate to. Then again, my grandson can singalong to a lot of what I consider foreign to my ears, the songs of Bieber, etc. So, what this boils down to is that Adam's demographic is the Adult not quite Contemporary, but Feminine music listeners, who include men of the same generation and a growing swath of youngsters influenced by their elders. Our numbers are not the masses of youth who are at home with the electronic devices or modes they access their music. Coupled with their facility with the social media that spread news like wildfire, the generation of melody seekers cannot compete in size or effect of fandom. Radio, the easiest form for this demographic to access, is where Adam's music would be most readily consumed. However, because the ownership of nearly all of radio is homophobic, Adam gets only a token treatment; the powers that be in the music industry have sway over who will rule on the air. Adam is well-known already, but the homophobic forces against him is strong and pervasive. Adam's catalogue of music is actually quite impressive, and many could have become chart topping hits. And, they are, outside of the US, of course, where Adam is hugely popular. Is there is light in Adam's future? The future, actually, is here, as Adam, if he is in a race, is winning where it matters: in the hearts and minds of all who has heard and seen him, not just on the stage all over the world where he has achieved the status of superstar, but behind podiums, in speeches, interviews, and written words where he has inspired admiration for his courage, intelligence, and compassion. Let's not lose sight of what Adam first expressed when he was a young performer, "If I could do this for the rest of my life, I would be so happy" or words to that effect. Even then, he did not say he'd be happy to be rich or famous, but to be able to sing, to perform, to entertain in his "happy place". Adam has reached the pillar of what few performers have achieved, the height and depth of love, respect, and devotion from fans all over the world to notables in the music industry. Those who think that the recognition in charts or numbers of music sold pales in comparison to the enormity of his talents must understand that Adam has forged a path few artists can claim. He is widely regarded as the foremost vocalist with the most beautiful voice in the whole universe, even for all time, all the while he is making his mark as a most inspiring image and articulate speaker/advocate for the LGBTQ community. Where Adam resides in the public's esteem, once they come to know him, is reserved for the truly real, gifted, and beautiful human beings. That is enough, and anything more Adam achieves in his life would just be cherry on top of a gloriously spectacular, magical cake.

I don't remember GT even charting on the dance chart tho I could be wrong. I remember wondering why it wasn't a club hit. ETA:I was referencing US radio play and club play.

I readily understand the feeling that Adams talent should be more widely known...AMEN to you atomom! as Adam, if he is in a race, is winning where it matters: in the hearts and minds of all who has heard and seen him, not just on the stage all over the world where he has achieved the status of superstar, but behind podiums, in speeches, interviews, and written words where he has inspired admiration for his courage, intelligence, and compassion. Just a few days ago my best friend said that ghost town was played alot in 2015... From what I read on here US radio is worse than German radio. For example Justin Bieber has gotten airplay for round about a year now and they play his singles, Love yourself, Cold water, Let me love you...which I all like...but yes the collaborations don't do much for me either...wich seems to be his songs played on US radio as I understand? Beliebers say similar things about Justins "Journals" album, which was just a digital release and never promoted either...some claim some of his best work is on it...

I don't remember GT even charting on the dance chart tho I could be wrong. I remember wondering why it wasn't a club hit. I think that here in Germany "Ghost Town" was Adam's second big hit after "WWFM", maybe even bigger ...?! (I don't know the exact statistics!) I heard GT on the radio often and for a long time, over several months on different radio-stations. I assume that it was also played in clubs (I don't know, I'm not in the age to go to clubs anymore, lol! ) but I can imagine that maybe they played remix-versions because in the original version only the faster refrain is danceable, the slower verses (the guitar-parts) always interrupt the dancing. For me "The Light" would have been the perfect second single to take up the style of "Ghost Town" because it's definitely also a (great!!!) dance-/house-song! In my opinion it would have been the only logical follow-up song to keep the "new fans because of GT" interested! (Re. "We found love" ... I looked it up and it's defined as "electro-house" or "dance-pop"! So many different styles and definitions of similar music ... lol!!! )

And they (radio stations) got to know Adam has a devoted fanbase and they play Adam now in our radio almost daily. Never happened before GT.
