Something Good Day ... I have vacillated posting (posted, deleted, posted, deleted) but i loved nic's photo so much I decided something personal was not out of line. My child who has always been young for their age, tentative and unsure of their place in the world, has finally at age 25 gotten their driver's license and drives on a very carefully pre-planned (safe intersections and no high speeds) route to classes. It may not seem like a big deal but it feels like a big deal. They still don't know their place in the world and there are so many obstacles in the way, especially with the culture wars again in full flames, but I guess my good thing is the knowledge that if we are patience, loving, and forgiving, even a timid flower will bloom ... but hopefully not drive too far away

LindaG23 Thank you for that story! Not many things harder than a child who has difficulty finding their place in the world (I know!) and nothing better than those big victories when they take a great step. I really hope I will wake up tomorrow to many amazing stories or pictures. Or otherwise I will personally spam this thread with every good memory I can think of tomorrow 😄

For anyone interested: Freedom on Showtime October 21...George Michael film...first and last 2 paragraphs follow George Michael wrote his own obituary with a documentary he’d almost finished about himself. Now this extraordinary film called “Freedom” comes to Showtime October 21st. Michael’s music partner David Austin completed the work, but it’s George’s film, don’t be fooled. And it it quite wonderful. “Freedom” contains interviews with Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Ricky Gervais, Nile Rogers, Mark Ronson, Tracey Emin, Liam Gallagher, Mary J. Blige, Jean Paul Gaultier, James Corden and Tony Bennett– as well as the models who apeeared in the “Freedom 90” video including Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Tatjana Patitz and Linda Evangelista. The whole thing is just stunning and not be missed. More... www.showbiz411.com/2017/10/13/how-george-michael-wanted-to-be-remembered-as-one-of-those-last-big-stars-in-the-sense-that-there-was-a-glamour-to-it

Thanks, bamafan and FanOfTheMan.
So much upheaval this year. Small steps and victories need to be recognized.

I have some good news about my good buddy Uke. He has passed the 4 month marker which is the time frame the vet gave me for survival so he is beating the averages and is hopping along on 3 legs and playibg ball and chasing our cats(in a loving way) and licking everybody's face.

I love what rihannsu said about you, Momtomany....a heart of gold with a core of steel. That's you. Sending my love.
Sometimes traumatic events can have a silver lining..... When I was hit in 2011 with an F4 tornado...it was a shock. I've lived in tornado land my whole life, but never had been involved with one up close and personal. I remember sharing it all with Atop folks when it happened and I remember all the kind words and outpouring of love. My house was damaged, car totaled, neighborhood pretty much destroyed ( many empty lots still today), husband's store leveled, my late mother's house damaged extensively, etc. It was pretty much overwhelming...so many things damaged or destroyed in a few seconds. I was fortunate that I was able to stay in my strong house afterwards...it was April and the temps were moderate. No power for almost 2 weeks. Cleanup galore. Windows all busted...no trees left...roof damaged with leaks, etc. Lots was going on so I didn't have much time to think about it all. Getting estimates for repairs, dealing with the insurance company, getting repairs begun...on and on. The house next door and behind me were flattened. No body was hurt close to me.....thanks to basements. I won't have a house w/o a basement. My situation was more aggravation and inconvenience. I still had my "things". My old solid brick 1945 built house with plaster walls and steel Ibeams for basement support held up where other houses didn't. I was grateful I had purchased this battle ship of a house back in the 1980s. Another thing I was grateful for was my Insurance Company who were fair and prompt in their settlements despite being the main insurer in these parts and being overwhelmed with claims.
The silver lining part......There was a church down the street from me...not my church....that was destroyed. After the tornado I had a clear as a bell revelation to contact the church and offer to sell them the land where my mother's house was and my husband's store was located. It would make a great location with plenty of room for a new church. and parking, etc. The church's destroyed location wasn't an ideal location....limited parking and too close to the highway, etc. I gave them a really good price for the land and they jumped on it. I then turned around and bought/invested in the house I'm currently living in. We bought our current house from a local Dr who I didn't know, and closed out the next week on the day after he found out he had stage 4 lung cancer. He had recently retired and he and his wife wanted to move to Tampa to retire close to their daughter. They were devout Catholics and left little prayers inside cabinets all over this house. I've left them. They bring a smile to my face. They moved to Tampa where he lived 4 years. Being a Dr. he volunteered to be a test case for various treatments for advanced lung cancer. His wife is there, living close to the daughter.
When I look back at that whole event......I feel like there were powers at work facilitating everything...call it God or The Universe working...and I was just one link in the chain of events.

Wow! I just read on Pulse that Pink is expected to open with 300-375k SPS and 290-340K pure album sales. I think that is better than her previous albums. If tru congrats to her. I also read Kelly Clarkson is expected in the 60k range on the 27th but don't know if that is accurate. She has been getting a really big push so it could go up. Her single started off with a big bang but not moving too fast now. I am obsessed with P!NK's album and we've waited 5 years for it!!!!!!!!!!! It went straight to #1 on iTunes for the explicit version and the "clean" version made top 10 too. I don't follow P!nk closely but have always liked her. With album sales being way down what do you think accounts for this? They expect her to be the highest selling female so far this year. Katy, Kesha, Miley saw their numbers way down. Not sure about Kesha tho her may have been the same as in the past. But even Kelly is expected to be much lower and WMG/Atlantic has been going all out for her. They even threw an album release party at her home in Nashville and flew in radio people from around the country. What in the world happened with P!nk? I'm happy for her tho really surprised.

I'm so very sorry momtomany to hear about the loss of your house. It must be devastating to lose everything. I wish you much strength for the coming period and I'm glad you and your loved ones are unhurt. That's the most important thing. I luckily live in a boring country when it comes to natural disasters. No hurricanes, no tornado's (at least not in the sense you have), no big floods, no big wildfires, not too high temperatures in the summer, not too cold in the winter. But we can enjoy every season. There is a category 3 hurricane currently heading towards Ireland (that hasn't happened since 1961), but we are having one of the warmest weekends in October with very nice weather and temps over 20 degrees Celsius which will continue through most of the week ahead. I'm feeling fortunate sometimes and even though we Dutch complain about rain a lot it's not raining as often as we think. As for the good things in life I have to thank all of you! This week it was 2 years ago that I've met nic42 and mireille for the first time in real life and also met the first Adam fans in real life. That weekend in October 2 years ago was so wonderful and nice that it will always remain in my memory. And it was because of this board that it came to be as I probably wouldn't have went there if it wasn't for nic42 and mireille. Since then I've done things I couldn't have imagined and I've met so many wonderful people. I've met some of you, but also a lot of other people who at first I only knew online. I've been to Copenhagen, Cologne, Brussels, Singapore and Canada already because of Adam and the support I've found on this board. I've made friends which I'm seeing regularly now and also with these friends I'll hopefully be making a lot of new great memories again during the upcoming QAL tour. First we'll have Amsterdam to which a lot of family also will come and then we'll head to Glasgow, London and Birmingham. I'm really looking forward to that. There is one thing I hope and that is that I will be able to meet Adam someday and that I can give him a big hug and thank him for all this. If I'm able to speak when I see him. Not sure I'll be able to, but I hope someday I can find out how I'll react. We / some have talked often about if he knows about the things he's responsible for and I'm glad that he made this board happen. And if you are reading this thread Adam: Thank you! I love you more than I could ever have guessed that I would love a person that I have never met (except in concert and one time very briefly on the airport). So thank you all! And big hugs to all that have found sorrow in this year. Don't forget that you also had a wonderful QAL tour already and the next leg of that tour is looming on the horizon already. As always that will be great!
