I think John will be great. I got to see him live at the Hillary Clinton tribute at The Greek Theater last year. The strength of his live voice was a very nice surprise. Great personality too.

I've only seen him in LaLa Land and I was pleasantly surprised at how well he did. All three announced cast members to date are well cast IMO.

I think Adam was probably thinking of a big movie production. However, I am exceedingly pleased that it is a TV production because so so many more people will see it and if done well, will generate a LOT of commentary. I think it is possible that a television version will become the modern defining version of the rock opera (as opposed to the more theater type production}. Or it could be poorly done and just flop ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think that John Legend is an excellent choice to play Jesus for many reasons. The music written for Jesus is more quiet, thoughtful, and soulful which is right up Legend's musical alley, especially the main song Gethsemane. It is also more of an acting part as Jesus is often shown visually responding to songs that are circling around him. Finally there is the undercurrent that Jesus's mission/fate is tied to those who are scorned and put down. Consider this quote from 'Heaven on their Minds' and how it might translate today: For these reasons and more, Legend should be great and meaningful. I am very impressed with the casting so far. Of course, if they don't cast Adam then I might change my mind.I hate to admit it but that is all I really care about. Hard to understand why Judas would not have been announced for the first round of publicity. I just wish they would announce already so if I don't need to give a f*** then let me know, lol. The arena concert production I saw had Jesus with a powerful voice. Judas was not as good, imo. But I understand that was only one version. The only other version I have seen was the movie version and that was so long ago. From your description, John sounds like he would be great as Jesus.

I want something new and different, preferably with emphasis on the individual vocals. TBH....I've been disappointed in all the Live musicals I've seen on TV...even Rocky Horror...altho I thought Adam's cameo was the highlight. They must be profitable for the networks to be doing one after the other. With no dialogue and a limited set and just songs/vocals, JCS is kinda in a different place/space. That's why I want it to be a new and fresh interpretation and I want all the post show buzz to be about Adam's performance. And even if it's poorly done and a flop...lol....I still want kudos for Adam's performance. I'm kinda zero focused....lol. Are there interviews from ALW about specifics he has for this TV presentation? I really hate to get any more invested in this project until we hear about Adam....but I'm kinda bored and impatient. Lurleene.....I think Adam's strong and powerful voice would work well against John's more soulful voice.

Guys, I just went back and listened to the video of Adam singing 'Is Anybody Listening" and "The Prayer" with the opera singer. I am in tears. The beautiful and diversity of his voice and talent is astounding. I don't think Idol hated Kris but I understand their major disappointment when Adam did not win. A win from him would have drastically changed their image and would have done wonders for bragging rights. They felt cheated and they were. A string of average talent and guitar strumming winners was hardly going to excite anyone. Adam will slay the part of Judas if given a chance.

Sadly, I am leaving on a trip April 2nd, from LA, so April 1st in NYC is out of the question. But I have been lucky to see Adam in many out of the ordinary performances (like the charity events last year) so can't complain. That would just be selfish! LOL!
