Hi
I don’t post much, but I have been here almost every day since as far back as Planet Fierce days. I’ve followed Adam since Idol and been to see him up and down the UK for his own tours and several times with Queen.
I was really looking forward to seeing him on Drag Race coaching the final five as I really love the show and especially Trixie Mattel, Ben de la Crème and Shangela. I was really disappointed in the interaction between Adam and Trixie; and because I’m aware of her dead-pan humour I probably didn’t form the opinion that some people on this forum have, she didn’t come across as rude to me. I felt sad that two people I really admire appeared not to get on.
Trixie is kind and warm-hearted, she is loved by most people in her business and her fans, she is a talented musician, singer/songwriter in her own right. As a country singer, she knows her range which isn’t of course anything like Adam’s and I think she was trying to get that across to Adam and unfortunately he appeared to be offended by it and then the whole thing seemed to descend into awkwardness.
When it came to the critique of the group performances, every other queen had only comments on their performance, when it came to Trixie Adam only criticised the coaching session, which was less than complementary. Trixie doesn’t usually have a problem collaborating, check out the Trixie and Katya show on you tube, over a million views on each of over 50 episodes – someone thinks she’s funny and gets her sense of humour. Maybe it was the wrong time, wrong place, wrong person.
No, it isn’t a beauty competition, as someone posted earlier – do you think previous winners Bianca del Rio, Jinkx Monsoon or Bob the Drag Queen are regarded as beauties?
The last straw for me was when someone compared Trixie to Donald HeWhoCannot amed – really? Now I love Adam to bits but are we not taking the protection of a grown man a bit too far?
Remember all this was recorded last August and has been edited to fit the purpose and for the drama of the show. In my opinion if Trixie says she felt humiliated, then that is how she feels, after all we have only seen a snippet of what happened and surely she has a right to express her feelings.
The show was finished over 6 months ago, she has a solo tour on at the moment with her own song recently at number 1 on ITunes, she has her own fan base that adores her, so what has she to gain – nothing.
I just wanted to give my probably unpopular opinion; I’ll go away and lurk again.
