I am not a fan of Sterling Fox but I have some sympathy for him. The song was written before Adam worked on it or recorded it. It would be really hard for me if I wrote a song like that and did not get full credit for writing it. "According to Fox, lyrical inspiration and subtext for the song was a veiled reference to his own inability to come to terms with being a ghost writer for other people's songs." But that is how the business works. And everyone has to play along. ** The US Congress has a bill to reform royalties and fix this, but it is sitting getting dusty. I agree...Adam-- adamized and added to the song, but Sterling Fox deserves recognition as the person who intially created lyrics for Ghost Town. It may have been done it in an odd way (posting his handwritten notes) ...but fair is fair. I often thought it seemed unfair to criticize him. He was feeling proud, and left out of the acclaim. Perhaps he jumped the gun and did not source out Adam to see if a "collaborative" sneak peak of the process could be done. It would have allowed for a positive reception...to Sterling re the final product. ( ie ...like the short videos shown by Nile/Rico Love/Tedder/Sarah Hudson / Ferras etc etc etc.) I remember Ryan Tedder discussing Beyoncé and the song Halo, he wrote/ produced. Eventually, he said she took what he wrote and by the way she sang it/ interpreted a certain part, it made it a better song, so she deserved " some" credit. Stories vary but if true, she wanted writing credit and it took quite a bit for her to get it from Ryan. Of course she wanted a writing credit to get more royalties. But how often do writers insert themselves in the middle of someone's promotion? The song wasn't even a hit yet. Kelly Clarkson has most of her material written by others and Carrie and other artists collaborate with many. Have never seen their promotion competing with the writer of the material. I rarely see that from anyone but it was okay to do that to Adam for whatever his contribution was. It just seemed a piss poor move to me, lol. Should have never happened. Sterling was listed as a writer and so were the others who contributed. When have they every said but most of the credit should go to_____ so let us write about him in the middle of Adam's publicity tour? He had been in the business long enough to know how it worked.

“But would you want to work with him again after that public display in Billboard and other places while you are trying to promote your new single? If you want full credit then don't give the song to another artist and allow the artist to make changes or add to it.”
100% agrree! If you don’t want to play the game, then don’t!
You are in my head, lurleeene! ❤️

Guess we can agree to disagree on writers popping in with their contributions to songs through interviews, or tweets, or videos, before a song is a hit...or for that matter even chosen! The news was out in so many formats, in the earlier years, almost nothing seems out of the realm to me now. Durng FYE era, I think Adam was aware of the some news being thrown out to social media, other times not. I do think he is more "careful" now as to what comes out to social media. Perhaps that might be impactng the Sterling situation for others.
From the get go, using the first album, FYE as an example: To name a few --Collaborations that hit social media seemingly with Adam knowledge about authors/writing of songs: -video from Ryan Tedder recording/producing - video Greg Wells recording/ producing -Red One...recordng a song, which was never completed or chosen -Alisan Porter and the gang piping in they co- wrote Aftermath
Collaborations/ news shared in a way that depicted Adam was not in on the release of information on who wrote and what: -Amy Mayo with barrages of hopeful tweets re - co writing Sleepwalker even before she found out it was chosen for the album -Rob Cavallo - interview re songs and writers of songs for FYE with Lyndsey Parker, even before the final selection was made. -after Adam puts out WWFM, Pink takes WWFM that she co-wrote, and announces November 11, 2010, she is including her own version of "Whataya Want From Me" on her European edition of her upcoming compilation Greatest Hits ... So Far!!!. Co - wrote being key...as usually they say written by Pink..but it was a co- write.
There have been so many examples of how writers/co- writers producers etc deal with songs they have participated in. We continued to see this through his next albums, but less so. We now get a few glimpses, with Adam usually in an instagram video. The Sterling situation was "without" Adam and others on that team, but not the only time news has come out about who wrote what.

GT nearly has 185 mill streams on Spotify. Has some legs. Should hit 190 mill at som stage. I agree I don't think Stirling was diminishing Adams role in writing LMD. That is just how Avicii did features. IT was his practice.
I have noticed too. Adams two biggest hits to date (Ghost Town and WWFM). Both have an emotive element to it. Sleepwalker and Runnin def should of been radio singles. But I wonder if Adam well notice that and go for something emotive for his first single. I am presuming he is still working on the album. But I Think we may get a single around May. When he might perform on idol.

Stampsgal, Adam has no writing credit on WWFM. Did you mean Adam? Or were you referring to P!NK cowriting WWFM with Max Martin?

Well Ada just sang TSMGO on Idol and for me it was just OK! In fact I get what Katy said, the show has finally begun because the other contestants were all over the place and so off key in parts. At least Ada put some wow into the show but it didn't have the power Adam delivers on that song.

ADA put her own spin on TSMGO. There was no comparison to Adam and the way he sings the song. I thought it was perfect for ADA and made it her own.
