The odds of this movie getting a major (any?) Oscar nominations are probably close to 0%. And with this movie, the only way to avoid controversy was not to make it. I really wonder why they (Brian, Roger, John, and the Trust/Mary Austin) agreed to do it. Setting that aside, I really agree with you, I hope the movie is about his whole complex life -- but I doubt it will be. The only potential Oscar I thoight about was an original song, since it doesnt seem they recorded one I agree it probably wont get any nomination, but the Oscars hadnt been an indication for me for good movies in years š And it seems like this could be a fun film to watch! I guess there there could be an nomination for the score, but Queen music is not that popular in the US and most of the Oscar voters are Americans. I suppose Brian was recording the guitar parts for the movie -- so that is something to look forward to.

It will be interesting to see if Bohemian Rhapsody the movie will raise Queen's popularity and spark an increased interest in their music and concerts or not. I am sure Brian and Roger thought about it. The impact it has probably depends on the content and complexity of the movie and in which country it is shown. To take this even further, I am wondering if the movie will have any effect on Adam.

He is an openly gay director. And he criticized the trailer(!) for showing Freddie twirling a woman, while he is only shown a very brief moment with a man. š plus Fox didnāt call his ālife-threatening diseaseā by its name... I can only say: 1. Itās just the trailer. 2. Freddie was not openly gay. Neither did he say, that he had aids until one day before he died. Why should it be that obvious from the beginning of the film? Freddie himself discovered/explored his sexuality only later in his life... The movie is mostly about music and being successful based on the press reports and the trailer. I am OK with that but I can see why people would want a movie about Freddie's life. Freddie never answered the press questions about if he was gay in any serious way -- While he never officially came out, he lived an out gay life in Berlin, NY, London, and backstage at Queen concerts. I don't recall anyone "coming out" in the 1970's or 1980'a in the way people do now. And in the 1970's and early 1980's (pre-plague) people could live their lives and have relationships without too much explanation. The public announcement that Freddie had AIDS was made the day before he died but it was pretty evident at the Brit Awards appearance -- his last appearance -- which I believe was over a year before he died. It is unfortunate that Freddie did not leave some kind of journal behind that explained some of his private life and feelings -- to me that is the interesting story -- but no one knows any of it. He was a very private person. Yes that is true. That is why I guess by 2009 Adam really made a big impact for LGBT artists. Of course he had his idols. Elton, George, Freddie e.t.c. But even in 09. I felt America were not ready for an out, sexually advert artist like Adam. He took all the hits for that community. So Artists Like Troy and Sam would not have too. And to me considering the cultural impact Adam has made. I really beleive Adam is going to do for LGBT artists. What MJ did for african american artists. Although Adam is clearly humble and embarrased to take that mantle. Based on that tweet of it is. But it is true.

Brian posted this on his instagram a few days ago. I think he wants to make it clear, the focus of this movie is about Freddie.
brianmayforrealTrailer number 2. Since there seems to be a question out there ... This is a film about Freddie. Yes, Queen was a massive part of his life, but the film is a portrait of Freddie as a human being. Bri

Brian May just said on IG a day or two ago that the film is about Freddie. That Queen was a big part of his life but that it is about him. Yes but this ain't a Freddie Biopic. This is a Queen biopic. So I don't think the focus should b on Freddies personal life. Quoting Brian: "Since there seems to be a question out there ... This is a film about Freddie. Yes, Queen was a massive part of his life, but the film is a portrait of Freddie as a human being." So yes, much of the focus should be on Freddie's personal life!
