Is Pride month world-wide? Something I've noticed in these interviews is that he is emphasizing the word "Queer" instead or "LGBTQ" and I'm wondering if that is an UK/Europe thing (although I don't remember it from before) or if the queer world or just Adam is getting tired of initials? I think the use of the word Queer is more of a UK/EU thing.
Pride month is not global and is now mostly in June across the US. Some US Presidents has issued proclamations for June Pride Month.
LBGT History Month in the US is in October (Coincides with National Coming Out day on October 11). February is LBGT History Month in the UK.
But there was still a barrier. When MTV first started in 85 they weren't playing black artists. Michael Jackson was I think the first they played and I think I remember something about him challenging them about that. I remember David Bowie calling them out on it in an interview he did around that time.

Sure there were barriers but my point was that Michael Jackson was not parallel to Adam, not that he did not break any barriers. The timing is different for black artists.
Black artists have been on Top 40 radio since the 1950's, signed to major labels since the 1920's, and had records sold by major US retailers. The major labels would not sign out gay artists, radio would not play their music, and without a major label they would not get into jukeboxes and retail stores.
>> When it come to discrimination in the entertainment industry many groups have been treated badly, but I honestly think that LGBT artists and entertainers may have had the roughest road -- stay in the closet or we don't want you.
Regarding Michael Jackson and MTV -- You will find the incorrect fact that Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" was the first music video by a black artist aired on MTV. It was actually the first music video put in heavy rotation by MTV which happened in 1984 -- they started in 1981. Here's a good recap of the history of MTV and black artists. www.thoughtco.com/when-mtv-first-aired-black-videos-2834657
I hope someday that it might be just about the music and not about race, gender, sexual orientation, and so on.

I follow Adam on instagram---and he DOES have many ,many followers. When I wake up in the morning and check my phone ---there he is, and it's where I first hear about everything related to his life because he posts so many pictures, etc. It's where I first hear about everything , including the Las Vegas residency. Yep, right at my fingertips, everything I can possibly want to know about Adam's daily life, including videos that he posts, followed by thousands of comments, some heartwarming and some "really out there!" My daughter signed me up last year and I had no idea how informative it would be!
