I seriously wish it were not so late at night and I still had the stamina to have a long posting discussion with you guys. Or better yet, I wish you were all at my house tonight so we could drink wine and discuss all the problems with the world and how, in my opinion, 'alpha males' had caused most of them. Adam is a gorgeous, beautiful, sexy, gay man. For me, dominance traits don't improve that at all. I apologize for my cantankerousness but I had to say it so that I don't wake up in the middle of the night trying to build thoughtful arguments for gender power balance in the world. Yeah, well the guys out there bragging about being "alpha males" aren't. The term has unfortunately been badly used and abused.

svca - I don't think anyone was trying to be anything but complimentary either. Adam is a confident, directed, and capable guy, as well as being all those other things I said.
rihannsu - I also think the term has been abused, but ultimately how it is overwhelmingly used in the world tends to take over its true meaning.
Lately, I have been questioning all types of gender presumptions. I haven't found any answers yet, but damn men are annoying me right now. I hope that will change and I can get back to being my calm self.

I never think of "alpha male" as necessarily being a negative thing. I can be used that way. But I think of it more as an identity of confidence, leadership, self-awareness, a bit of assertiveness. I see those qualities in Adam. Sometimes the term is used to mean domineering, pushy, overbearing, inflexible. But I use the term as a compliment for a man who is comfortable in his own skin and not afraid to speak his mind.

What is an alpha male? Is it like an alpha wolf? Time to re-read the original Rolling Stone article where Adam contemplated why an Idol chauffeur said he had no problem with Adam being gay b/c "at least you're not girly".
Adam kind of shape-shifts to convey all parts of his personality make-up. He seems to be very conscious of his power to convey different images of his reality.

JMHO I like the Idol NE performance but The Ellen Show performance of NE was much better. First, it was the whole song. And secondly, Adam seemed more relaxed and like himself. It really did look like the 2nd performance instead of the first (going by actual tape date). Much less physical and vocal posing. And I almost understood the first three words of the song which to my ears are way too slurred on the released recording. Funny how his diction is better live than produced on the full length of the song.

. . . we could drink wine and discuss all the problems with the world and how, in my opinion, 'alpha males' had caused most of them. Adam is a gorgeous, beautiful, sexy, gay man. For me, dominance traits don't improve that at all. Yeah, I thought Adam was really insightful in a recent interview, talking about how harmful “toxic masculinity” is for everyone.
