I hope that Adam will be able to create an experience similar to "Believe" with his own music some time. It was quite simply spectacular.

JMHO I like the Idol NE performance but The Ellen Show performance of NE was much better. First, it was the whole song. And secondly, Adam seemed more relaxed and like himself. It seems like he feels very much "at home" at Ellen's show, and hard to believe that it was his first taped performance of NE. Adam did seem more relaxed there. Could it be that he still feels like he has something to proof on Idol? I think it was also much harder for Adam to get into the vibe with the much abbreviated performance. I still enjoyed Idol though, but with Ellen today I realized how much more he hit the "sweet spot" there.

With a voice like Adam's, it is almost criminal that he does not get to belt one of his emotional ballads to be heard by a wider audience. Would love to see a little radio play and tv performance of his own work, to see what the impact would be. It seems the beautiful emotional ballads are only acceptable for him if it is someone else's song. Never his own.

Sleepwalker, Underneath, Outlaws of Love. Granted they were never released as singles. But I Don't think Adams exempt from releasing a big ballad to Radio. I just think it would be a disservice imo if we pigeoned holed Adam in one category. On Idol he did Pop, Rock, Blues, Soul etc. He is a mix of it all. Adam Lambert is almost a genre all on his own. So yes I agree, I Would love Adam to release his own "Beleive". But I Well continue to support his music no matter what he does. FYE was the first album I Bought in my life haha. And yeah just watched the Ellen performance. Far better then idol. Idol he was good. But I Felt because the chorus in the song was cut short. Their was a lack of phrasing in his performance. The more the Adam the better haha. Here he felt more at home. Meant he could experiement a bit. And add more dimensions to the song. Pretty cool Taylor endorsed the song too. Good omen? Time well tell. ETA: Just watched that interview he did on Sunrise in OZ. Very promising to hear he is shifting away from EDM stuff. And sounds like it is going to be his own version of 70's classic rock. I Think most ppl would agree 70's glam rock, and that era is more his lane. Ever since 2009 people have always said its almost he came from that era in a time machine lol. And to hear him saying it is very bluesey, soulful. Full of instruments, and guitars. This sounds very promising. Maybe FYE 2.0? Well see.

Adam described his new music as "smooth, sensual, glam", and while I expect some of the flavor that FYE gave us "Velvet" may be much more cohesive and different in sound. I am super happy with the musical direction he has taken so far, but I would not cry my eyes out if he went for a more "contemporary" look here and there.

But I have been hoping that the general public in the US would get to hear some on some special events. Like "Believe" and "Girl Crush" as they were heard in the US by more than just his fans. People could not stop talking about how fantastic he was. It is not a crime for me to want to see that kind of response with one of his own songs. And I don't see how it would pigeon hole Adam in one category to release and get wide spread recognition for ONE of his beautiful ballads. That would not take away from all the other types of songs he has had released. They would still be out there. This was my comment and it wasn't about what fans have heard. But this is just my wish and not saying anyone else has to want it, lol. I have not long woken up...9 a.m here. Sorry I couldn’t join the discussion on my ‘alpha male’ comment. I have always thought that Adam embodies a special blend of characteristics; androgynous qualities that combine to make him so fascinating; I suspect to more than just myself, especially here! I made a comment that to me meant that he had his sexy, empowered swagger back which I thought was missing from Idol and perhaps of late. ‘Alpha male’....leader, confident, commanding presence, sexy, don’t put baby in the corner attitude....but here tempered with beauty and gentleness, quiet strength and no sharp edges. The two parts of my description were deliberately juxtaposed to illustrate how Adam’s Ellen vibe managed to combine the best traits of each so positively and beautifully....imho. And uniquely perhaps. Thank you to all those who got it. LindaG23 sorry it made you ‘cantankerous’. Lol. I have appreciated your recent thoughts on ‘gender’ issues and I hope you invite me over for your late night discussion session! We are all different and it isn’t a dirty word to me at all...just a personality type...though some AlphaMales give the personality type a very bad name of course...but I think we all know that weak little shits can do just as much damage without the positives of leadership and presence.... and I seem to know a lot of AlphaFemales whom I love. ,

SophieB — I just woke up and am halfway through my first cup of coffee and it was with some trepidation that I opened Adamtopia this morning to see if I had started some kind of minor flame war. With relief, I found that I had not and that you and others understood my point. I agree that Adam encompasses many of the best traditionally "male" and "female" characteristics. For me, he is a role model for "good human". I am personally ready for "leader, confident, commanding presence" to be considered female qualities because I think it is more likely that the darker aspects of those qualities would be better balanced in women, who are more ready to accept their 'beauty, gentle, quiet strength' side. Men, especially those in charge, just haven't evolved to that degree yet. I am happy to know that you have some 'alpha' women friends, we all need some of those. Finally, you and everyone here are totally invited over to my house for late night discussion sessions; my wine closet is always stocked!
