@ensano_vir: I feel so much shame for saying Marc Martel is a better frontman than Adam Lambert for Queen. I take back what I said haha

Q3 Thanks for all this wonderful info. I'm not great with vocals but alot of what I know is from what others have told me who have followed Queen for longer period of time then I have. Great to know you're a long time fan too so it's wonderful to get input from those who have seen Queen in their early years. Interesting about the drinking good to know because this had been brought up on a Queen forum years back and some members on their who knew quite a bit about vocal chords shot down that claim. Their main claim has always been nodules hence why I never go with that but yes like you I really would love to know if extreme drinking leads to vocal damage. I'm sure it can't be great for anyone we know he smoked too. Did Freddie always smoke or was that something he started later on I can't recall at the moment. Someone on another board claimed the alcohol warmed up his chords don't ask me I know nothing about vocal chords. If you're really curious I can look it up later. TBH when you put into perspective everything the screaming back in the day due to the arenas and the sound systems weren't as they are now plus everything else you can see why Freddie's vocals ended up the way they did vs how healthy and strong Adam has manged to keep his I agree from everything I've heard people left the Queen shows in the early years going on about Brian and his guitar skills and how charismatic Freddie was not so much his vocals. I think his vocal range came into appreciation later on as you stated. I also agree about the critics and such. Also what I noticed at my show in Vancouver is the songs which came after 82 were less known to the audience ex they played One Vision opening night and my crowd looked lost except me who was going nuts lol! nica575 thank you for the link I will check that out later along with the links Q3 posted.

*Sorry about the larger font. I somehow hit something that gave me that choice, and it helps my vision issues a great deal.
I am behind and trying to catch up so am agreeing/responding to peopleâs comments on the âPink Elephantâ speech. Just last night, I finally and truly accepted that for whatever reason, Adam has been doing some variety in which he invites a less flattering image of himself by invoking the âirreplaceableâ, etc... Freddie Mercury for eight years now. And Adam is not âreplacingâ Freddie; Freddie wasnât a broken vase. Adam is the lead singer, who now carries the torch, as he said for some shows. Like some, I prefer this way to acknowledge Freddie, which shows just as much of the honor and gratitude that peopleâand I personally believe as wellâthat Adam the fan feels, just as he feels honor and never fails to express so, being on stage with Brian and Roger. But Adam is clearly the lead singer of this iteration. He âownsâ that role in every way and does a helluva job at it. At all times, though, he shares, plays with and steps aside for other members, making it clear that he doesnât consider himself the leader of the band. That shows humility and generosity of spirit in and of itself.
And did anybody else notice that when he did the âtorchâ speech, there were, at least as far as what I saw in fans and reviewers, a lessening of, âof course heâs not Freddieâ comments? Maybe Iâm the only one who perceived it this way because I was relieved not to hear he âotherâ version? And that âpink elephantâ version provides a nice window of opportunity for lazy or, as couple of reviewers who admitted going in with negative biases to crawl through. And at some point, maybe even The Vegas Residency, a couple of people noted that the many year version might be helpful at winning over die-hard Queen fans. That will either happen, as fortunately it seems to be, or for some, there is nothing Adam could say, sing, etc..., that could or will ever help. I spent an unfortunate few minutes the other day on one such site. I felt I needed a bath after being there just that relatively short period of time.
Anyway, I donât believe Brian and Roger have anything to do with the pink elephant version of the speech, and I know Freddie doesnât. I can only say that it is Adam who is hurting himself here. This tour proved that the âcarrying the torch speechâ worked fine, but it wasnât the most used. Adamâs choice, of course, and my opinion matters not a jot, but I wanted to get this off my chest for what I plan on being my last post about his choice. Thanks for letting me do so. I love Adam; I love Freddie...I mean no disrespect to either of them.

I find it interesting that the "Why?" was there in QAL 2012, then disappeared in 2014 and it took about 3 years to show up again. I wonder if Roger or Brian discouraged Adam from doing it in order to preserve his voice, and then eventually Adam could not hold back and decided to reincorporate it in the live shows? That's a question I would ask if I were an IG user The "Why?" is now my first go-to moment on any live recording, even before TSMGO and WWTLF. Ok, I am a maniac on vacation. Here is all you need to know about the coming and going of the sliding "Why?" in Under Pressure during the QAL tours. Work In Progress, but pretty useful already: www.adamfullcircle.com/under-pressure-whyYou may ask "Why?" Well, I might be nuts I will add the link to my signature.

I've also found the "Why" fascinating...but didn't realize how this has changed over the years/throughout the tours.
