I have heard the name Rufus Wainwright and I knew he was gay. But I'm not familiar with his music. Was he a big deal at one time on radio or tv? I don't believe I have ever seen him on anything. I love Rufus, but he's definitely a niche artist. I have 4 or 5 of his albums; my daughter got me started on his music. "Oh What A World" is one of my favorite songs, plus Dinner at Eight, and Gay Messiah, Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk. His songs are really personal usually, about his growing up, his Mom's death, his daughter. I don't listen to radio, so I have no idea if they play him or not.

He is Canadian and comes from a large musical family. Mentored by Leonard Cohen. He is very talented and everybit as flamboyant as Adam ever was. But I don't believe he has had a mainstream hit even in Canada. But, I don't think any of kd lang's most popular tracks were what you would call bonafide 'hits'.

I think Rufus had his daughter with Leonard Cohen's daughter, didn't he? I didn't know that about KD Lang, not having any actual hits. I lover her, too. I find that all my favorite artists are non mainstream. I don't know why, but usually the mainstream artists don't appeal to me. I tend to find, usually by accident, artists that are different, like Rufus.

Haha! Love Eber's reply to the tweet! He's very funny.
And BTW, kd lang is amazing. One of the best voices on earth. But she is not a "mainstream hit" singer, either. She just continues to perform and have a long, steady career. That's what I want for Adam. And some big chart-topping hits for him would be great, too. LOL
I would love for Adam and kd to do a duet sometime. Both voices are so clear and powerful.

Somewhat OTT but has anyone seen the new Will Ferrell movie, Eurovision the Song Contest? Dan Stevens is the antagonist who portrays a Russian pop singer super star who is supposed to win the contest. Will and Dan must have watched the Show Must Go On and based Dan's character on Adam...wardrobe, poses while performing, eye f*****g the camera, the sensuous smile (maybe I'm projecting}, and the male dancers and choreography during his song presentation. I saw shades of Adam's AMA and EMA performances. While as Adam said in TSMGO, "isn't it obvious?" when asked if he was gay, the Dan Stevens' character is Russian and vehemently and sadly denies it with "there are no gays in Russia".
