coo.coo.ca.choo - thanks for bringing that video over - that's one of the few group numbers they did on Idol that I actually liked (most of the others were terrible, except for the Adam part, of course)
BTW I just remembered, in the Never Close Our Eyes video, there's this whole segment of choreographed dancing. I love dance, so I enjoyed how dance and movement in that video were presented as symbols of liberation.

OMG this is great! Where did you find it? I think it was here actually. I'm kinda new to this site, so I've been wandering around to check out the content -- there's so much stuff here, it's unbelievable (you ATop guys are awesome for collecting it all in one place!!! ), and so when I read this discussion here about Adam's dance training, I remembered watching this video, went to YT and typed in "airbands raid" and there it was. I think I must have seen it first in the Pre-Idol Days Thread.

Ok, just found the video - this is Adam in Mount Carmel high - air bands competition, which they won, I think
This is from the description of the video:
"I just learned via the comments, that the lead character for the "War" section, is Adam Lambert from American Idol Season 8! I knew there was something special about this performance every time I watched it, and this just adds to it!
The theme for this airband was Raid, yea that stuff you use to kill bugs and roaches. The opening set of dancers represent the bugs, while the girls are going to war to kill them.
This is a sick performance all around, the lead dancer doing the "War" section is great fun to watch. He looks like he is dancing in fast forward, it's wild!"

Adam has never once said he took dance so where do you get the information that he has had dance training? He has many freinds who are professional dancers, Terrence, Brooke, Sasha, etc. it's likely they have shown him how to spin without falling on his ass. He is a very graceful and natural spinner but the rest of his dancing is really just random moves to the rhythm. It's known on Broadway as being a 'triple threat'.. You have to be able to dance, sing and act, even if your are in the chorus line.. So Adam was never on Broadway ,but he did do touring companies on ship & in LA.. so he proabaly had some fundamental training while in a musical...Kind of what Paula did when she had #8 do a mild dance number.. He most likely already started learning some dance moves as a kid, being heavily involved in a children's theatre group and in his high school they had something called 'air bands' competitions -- there's even a video somewhere of a performance (called War or Raid or something) where Adam was featured as the main dancer, so....

I like this interview, because it's a little looser and shows just how down-to-earth and no-affectations kind of guy Adam is. My highlights: chewing gum before the interview, banter with everybody during the interview, keeping up with beach people ("honey, I got a spray tan before I got here") and THE GOLD MOMENT (hmmm, a foretelling of sorts?, now that we have the gold-themed QAL North American Tour).

cassie, when you find the time, could you break down the notes Adam hit in his riffs/vocal gymnastics during the LA performance of Somebody to Love, especially that one when he literally had to pull the microphone down to his stomach (presumably so that he would only metaphorically and not literally blow people's minds )? Actually, thinking about your request, what is it that you want to know, specifically? I do not have a computer app to create musical transcriptions, sorry. So I cannot write out the phrases unless I do it by hand and scan it into the computer. I CAN do that, if that is what you want, but, maybe you don't even read music? In which case I do a lot of work and don't give you anything useful. Or do you want something else? I can name the notes in the riff, if that is what you are looking for. Or tell you the highest and lowest. If you are wanting to know music theory, I think my musician sister said they are riffs off the pentatonic scale, but I could check with her on specifics. I want to answer your question, but I am still a bit foggy on what it is. Oh, no need to trouble yourself with musical transcription! I was actually just asking if you would name the notes. I've seen every rendition of Somebody to Love that Adam did with Queen and I love every single one of them, but he always does different riffs in the middle and I just LOVED this one. Though, I don't think anything will really compare (in my mind) to his performance in Hammersmith, London, Day 3, when he did that part "somebody to..... loooove" when he went down and up and had that beautific smile on his face, a smile of pure joy because of the sounds he was creating with just his voice, and the crowd went wild. You know the one I mean--here's the video (at about 4 min mark)

One of the songwriters who has shared studio time with Lambert is Tove Lo, a Swedish artist who is currently making an impression in the U.S. with her debut EP, "Truth Serum." "He came to Sweden, he's been working with all the producers, the little collective out there, and having a really good time," Tove Lo tells Billboard of Lambert. "When you hear the fully produced stuff from the studio, that's one thing, but his voice is insane. I couldn't believe it." (from Billboard.com March 2014)

Thank you! I've been lurking for a couple of weeks, but Adam fans have been so gracious and awesome, I had to join up! Same here - after a while, I just couldn't not join.
