Because they don't follow him as fans. They know more about Adam than I do about other singers. If I'm not a fan why would I know what they are doing. Y'know. It's true. You only know about the singers that you follow. At least to any extent. I know the names of the top singers, of course. But I don't know what they're currently doing, when they are touring, what their new songs and albums are. If I hear about them on the news, it's just in passing. The top singers have huge fan bases who buy their music and concert tickets. Adam's doing well overall. He just needs that mega-hit that breaks through his own fan base, make it grow and make it stick. Exactly. Doing well overall, just needs that one big hit to become a true household name.

Yup, to a lot of the general public he's just a one hit wonder and that's all there is to it. Most people only know him for WWFM and in pop music that song was a hit a long long time ago. I don't agree with one hit wonder for public comment..Adam is very well known and I don't believe Adam has a problem ,I think mainstream America has the problem I often discuss Adam in my other fandoms and tbh his sexuality has never been mentioned as an issue to anyone. They just literally don't know what he's done besides WWFM (some MIGHT know Ghost Town) and being in Queen. I think he could also use some improvement in self promotion compared to the other artists I follow. Being more interactive on SM would help a ton. Potential fans get bored and move on otherwise.

Just my opinion. But if they think there will be flack for casting a gay artist they probably won't cast one. If Adam gets the part, I doubt they will make it all about his sexuality. I could be wrong but I hope not. His fans might tho. When he sang "Girl Crush" on a country award show, there was hardly a peep about his sexuality except from fans. Most were raving (including the country audience) about how great he was. Agreed, sometimes it is not as deep as the fandom makes it out to be. Adam's "problem" is not that he is gay, imo. His "problem" is that he never has had a song just smash on radio. He is doing great, but he is not a huge, mainstream star. Yup, to a lot of the general public he's just a one hit wonder and that's all there is to it. Most people only know him for WWFM and in pop music that song was a hit a long long time ago.

That was sort of what I was asking earlier. Would they let Adam just do his thing when someone else is in the top role? Then I thought about the tv version of Sound of Music. Carrie Underwood was the star, but overlooking her bad and bland acting, she did great with the vocals. But when Audra McDonald sang her part, there was no competing with her. Audra, who is a veteran Broadway and opera and multiple Tony award winning singer, was just too powerful. I cannot imagine casting Adam as Judas and then asking him to hold back in order to not overshadow another star. It would be like entering a champion lineage stallion in a race and then adding an extra 50 pounds to the saddle to make the race more competitive. If you don't want Judas to steal the show from Jesus, don't cast the greatest pop/rock/musical singer of his generation. In fact, if Adam does not get the role, I will always believe it was precisely because he would leave everyone else in the rearview mirror, as Paula once said. As to The Sound of Music with Carrie..... don't get me started. She did a passable job of a pop/country singer trying to do a classic musical theater show. Not cringe worthy, but not nearly the voice needed for the role. Just, no. Casting her may have been a win in terms of attracting an audience demographic who would not normally tune in to a traditional, iconic musical, but it was a total fail from an acting and musical theater singing perspective. Very disappointing. not to sound like I'm missing your point entirely but they actual do do that to champion race horses lol it's called handicapping *back to lurking*

Many artists don't take care of their voice, regardless of genre or vocal style. Chester Bennington from Linkin Park is a great example of a raw and gritty rock voice that is also properly trained to prevent injury. Anyone that's ever listened to Linkin Park knows he screams his face off, but in 20 years as a band as far as I can recall they've never had to cancel a show due to vocal strain or injury. I would easily put Chester's vocals on par with Adam's. Different styles, but they both know what they're doing to take care of their voices.
Also feel free to ignore Jon Bream as a reviewer. Last time Adam came to Minnesota was for Glam Nation Tour and he mostly used his platform as a reviewer to trash Kris Allen instead of actually reviewing Adam's performance.

Some great photos here, LinkinBert! Also enjoyed your "top" story. Was that the yellow & black top I saw in a photo somewhere? "And at one point Adam actually stopped to tell me he liked my shirt. To an entire sold out arena! WHAT?! Talk about a highlight for life! So pleased someone else caught it on video so I can relive that moment on the daily. I’ve always joked that we have an eerily similar taste in fashion so it was nice to have that thought somewhat confirmed lol." http://instagr.am/p/BWjnxAOFBJJ Yep! It was a black and neon yellow zebra print tank. Save
