Yesterday, I was quipping about that tortoise carrying my FAULT being hibernating somewhere away from the desert sun (it was 110F. yesterday), well, ladies & gents! today we have reached 107F. and it's only gonna get hotter from this point on. So, you could imagine my hope for that tortoise's arrival is fading even more.

Replace the original band with the UK band Not really, if you want the original band to sound like the UK band, just turn down their volume and play back the backing track IMHO, the G-A-Y performance was mostly Adam + backing track, with the band just standing there, "playing". Compare to the different arrangements the original band does on Shady for example, or the long improvisations at the end of Cuckoo or Naked Love the original band can do because they actually play live and can stop or extend where needed. I wouldn't even claim I ever heard the backing vocal guys on any of the two performances. I know I heard Adam's backing vocals a lot though. They sounded like the CD record because it WAS the CD record... But I could be totally full of it

My daughter gave me Adele's album,I listened and was bored and a bit depressed by most of the songs.I don't get the popularity thing.. I will say I've heard a couple of her interviews and I found her to be very funny and charming. My guess would be that there are a lot of depressed people out there My wife checked the "21" album out and said "Not for me, too depressing". We live in Vancouver, we have enough rainy days to be depressed without Adele. I cannot explain the phenomenon, and I don't care. SuBo also outsold Adam last era, but that does not make her a better singer than Adam (for me, for you ;D )

... At the 2:10 mark Adam whispers something but I can't make it out. Before I thought it was just an electronic hiss sound but today I realized it was definitely Adam's voice. Can anyone tell me what he is saying? To me it sounds like "...His Mind!", but I could be totally wrong.

As I said in my comment a couple of pages ago, I thought this video had a very 70's vibe (hello Logan's Run?). Which is another way of saying that most of the thing I find totally cheesy. I actually enjoyed the 70s part of the video the most. The lighting, effects and general idea were very good and I didn't find them cheesy at all. In fact, I think they look more believable than George Lucas' original. To put things in context, when I came back from The Avengers, my wife loved it, while I only liked it. She asked me why. It was because in the scene where Scarlett Johansson was supposed to play a Russian spy I did not like her pronunciation and the billboard outside the building setting up the fact it was in Russia had random Cyrillic characters! :D It totally threw me out of the mood and I could not suspend disbelief from that point on. (Btw, shameless plug ahead, the first 10 minutes of The Avengers with all those plasma effects were done by a company in LA called Hydraulx using a piece of software called Krakatoa which I co-develop as part of my current job). As I said, I am simply damaged and cannot enjoy movies anymore. It seems to be the case with music videos, too I had a little problem with the fire in BTIKM, but it was relatively abstract and I could forgive it. Some of the effects (say, the screens) in the NCOE video are brilliant, the eye scanners are just ok, but the fluid effects are of the lowest quality possible. Than being said, the VFX crew had probably a week or two to work on this, so I can understand it cannot be movie-quality work. In short, it is me, not the video that has a problem :

SNIFF! I am professionally damaged. The cheesy visual effects (smashed capsule, blue smoke from gas guns) killed the joy for me. If you knew my background, you would understand. AFL looks more gorgeous as ever, but I find the first 15 seconds better than the rest of the video. Regarding the final dance sequence, I loved the neon colors, but not the camera work and direction of it. Sorry for not being able to join you all in squeeeee :(

NCOE GETS RELEASED AT 3 a.m. ET??? Who the f*ck chooses a time like that???? I don't get it. They want to release it at 12:00 on Tuesday. But if they would do that in ET, you and me in the Pacific time zone would get it at 9pm on Monday, and those bastards don't want that ;D

Is anyone having problems scrolling? The scrolling is very jerky and it makes it really hard to get through a page. It's only happening on ATOP ... every other website or twitter acct. is just fine. I'm on Firefox. I am on Google Chrome and have the same issue. It seems to be related to excessive image sizes and esp. animated GIFs. ATop is the only site I know where posting a lot of images or even quoting full posts without reducing the original post to a few lines is not mandatory (short quotes and image limits have been part of the Netiquette for two decades). While it provides a great sense of freedom (bright side!), it can affect the browsing experience significantly... But I love seeing the bouncy smileys flailing at the latest Adam-related news, so I just press the down arrow on the keyboard and wait patiently

The clip definitely gives me a 1984 George Orwell vibe and I loooooove it!!! First thing that came to my geeky mind was THX 1138... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/THX_1138Thankfully, no heads were shaven for NCOE ;D
