I thought Adam pointed out that he was NOT using the C word? This is a different word that means something else? Maybe I misunderstood the whole thing? From Our Friend The Urban Dictionary: Cunty 256 up, 138 down A word generally associated and used in gay society. It means an overwhelming feeling of self-conceit or cockiness. Associated with many feelings, usually of being a bitch, cocky, conceited, arrogant, obnoxious and the list goes on. I'm feeling cunty! Ohh she is FIERCE!, cunty! That bitch is being really cunty today...

Funny Release Day story: As a good Glambert, I put on my Adam T-Shirt before going out with my wife to buy some groceries on May 15th. At the checkout, we paid whatever we bought and suddenly the cashier girl looked at me and said "OMG, I LOVE your T-shirt!" She was BEAMING! "Can I take a PICTURE of it? I have never seen one of those up close... I love Adam!" She took out her cellphone and I let her take a picture. We went out of the store and my wife said "Wow, she was as excited as if she saw the real Adam!" I can assure you I don't have even 1/100 of Adam's looks, but I surely felt good about putting the right clothes for Release Day. Bottom line: Adam seems to make people happy even indirectly!

Can I just show my ignorance here :-[. What is the purpose behind making the whole album 'available' like, everywhere? I'm sure there's some mathematical formula explaining about numbers of people who would copy illegally instead of buying legally versus promo value but this really does seem to be giving it away to the masses ???. Be kind please, I no unnerstand . Here is my POV. I work for a software company whose products are used in major motion picture visual effects production (shameless plug ahead: like Avatar or the opening 10 minutes of The Avengers). Our software is generally stolen the day it is released, sometimes earlier, so I see a clear parallel to music. Fighting the pirates technologically is futile and only wastes resources on our side. Our software has protection schemes and requires a license, but anything like that can be defeated by a good hacker. The way we deal with it is psychological. We cannot do anything about the actual hackers who crack our software and upload it as a Torent on the internet. But we can do something about the average person out there. Most people tend to go the path of the least resistance, so if morals are taken out of the equation, a person will do what is EASIER for them, not based on what is right or wrong. It is about convenience. If one really wants to hear an album or try out a software, they would only download from a shady source if it is easier than getting a legitimate FREE preview from the original source. So our software products, just like the streams of Trespassing, are available in nearly unlimited mode for anyone to download and play with. There are some minor limitations to make it impractical to use in real production, but it does not prevent the user for enjoying 99% of the tool. Our software costs between $1000 and $5000, so getting almost all of it for free makes people happy and we remove a significant amount of the incentive to get it illegally. We also provide unlimited evaluation licensing for anyone who want to test all 100% before buying. Steve Jobs realized that and created iTunes. It is way easier to preview and download an album from iTunes or Amazon than to search for a Torent which might or might not be virus-free or even the real thing. Interestingly, most people will rather spend $10 and click once than spend $0 and click 10 times to get the same content. Also, iTunes and Amazon provide a social networking element as you can see what others are buying and commenting on and you can get automatic suggestions for other similar artists you might have never heard of before based on your purchase. With Trespassing available for ANYONE to hear for free, RCA is taking away the necessity for the listener to steal the album just to see if it is worth listening to. For a limited time, anyone can click on a link on a website and get INSTANT GRATIFICATION. Then this person might like (or in the case of Trespassing, LOVE) the product and want to listen to it in the car for example. A large percentage of the population would have harder time burning a CD themselves instead of buying one at Walmart, so they would do the latter, KNOWING it is a great product already. Radio play is also part of this, but it only gives you one or two songs which should in theory show you how great the album is (but in the case of TP, don't). It is a game of numbers and is a fight for the subconscious minds of the casual listener (or in my case, user), not against the hard-core pirates. There is also the word of mouth aspect where someone who heard/saw a free preview and told others about it personally or via Twitter/FB/phone is increasing the chances for a sale even if the original person did not buy it... Also, I personally believe that someone who loves a product and thus indirectly respects the person who created it is less likely to steal that work, but I could be just naive

I have no issues with people who legitimately don't care for the music - would be fingers on chalkboard for my rammstein loving husband, but reviewer commits the cardinal sin... ;D I have tickets for Rammstein on Sunday in Vancouver, going with my Lady Gaga-loving wife... Great music is great music (to quote AFL: My ears don't discriminate). The one should not exclude the other, try playing him some Runnin', he might get on board after a while!

Doesn't Michael Slezak work for EW, and isn't he a gay man? I wonder how he feels about his own employer so blatantly showing signs of homophobia? :( Nope, he is on tvline.com now, witty as always. Not sure why he left EW, but I have an idea...

Here is the EW article of Trespassing Oh wow! Thanks for bringing it over. Not sure whether to laugh or cry. What I could read between (and within) the lines is: You are not a serious artist, you are a freak who should be doing nothing but gay music. Rock is for straight dudes (like Freddie Mercury and Rob Halford : and any attempt to express deep feelings in a song sounds ridiculous because we all know queens cannot have feelings, they just pretend to be OTT to be interesting. I actually think B- isn't that bad. It is the rest of the drivel that makes me sad... But what do you expect from a magazine with a yucky name... Eeeew!

For me, this track shines so bright because it just might be an artifact from a Parallel Universe. 8-) As mentioned already in the news thread, I believe that Runnin' gives us a glimpse of the original direction of the album before it became the Trespassing we know (we could call it the Pre-Pharrell Age). While this song is my clear favorite at this point, this fact is in no way diminishing the quality of the CD. On the contrary, Runnin' shines like a diamond because it is embedded into the gold that is the rest of this magnificent work. I truly believe an album where all songs were pop-rock, even if of the same quality as Running, would be much less impressive. (Funny embarrassing story - when I heard WWFM for the first time, my immediate reaction was "Filler! No wonder Pink did not include it in her album..." Imagine my surprise when it became a hit! But then again, I also thought Roxette's "The Look" would be a one-hit wonder in the late 80s, so what do I know... : ) I am really not hoping for a pop-rock album #3 filled with WWFM-inspired tracks and I am happy we dodged the bullet with album #2! But I am ecstatic that this gem survived as a Bonus Track and I cannot stop replaying it. Interestingly enough, the imagery of the BTIKM video is what comes to my mind when listening to Runnin - Dark Adam, with the allusion of a loaded gun pressed to the lips which turns out to be a whiskey flask, brooding, "throwing a fit", then crawling out of the "bottom of the bottle" and literally rising up with The Voice as his altimeter. The musical line is like the climb on what someday might become "that optimistic vine" we know from the title track. The important thing is Dark Adam is realizing the futility of Running From His Heart. He is rediscovering and saving Light Adam in the process and he is "coming alive" around the 2:32 mark which is of course the Point Of Total Epicness where I normally get my goosebumps! (Probably in part because it reminds me of my favorite music outside of the GNAFL world - German Power Metal : ) The song finishes abruptly and I nearly see a "To Be Continued" sign at the end of a movie with a cliffhanger ending... A music video might never happen, but I would love to see that! I am not holding my breath to ever hear this or CLYG live either, but if it should happen, I will be a Very Happy Man!

I must admit that I didn't expect to like all of the songs. Didn't care for a few on FYE. Surprise to me - I love every single song! Not only there are NO FILLERS, the BONUS TRACKS that are usually supposed to be an afterthought are as good, if not better (Runnin, anyone?) than the rest, and feel like an integral part of the concept, ending in Nirvana. WHO ELSE DOES THAT? ???

Listening to Runnin... And yes, goosebumps. Adam has done something extraordinary here-- and I truly believe this is a gamechanger for him. I could be very wrong, but I SUSPECT the Bonus Tracks, and esp. Running, are the result of the original darker direction of the album before it went Funky. I will wait to hear the other 2 Bonus Tracks from the UK version for confirmation, but both Running and Take Back feel more rock-oriented and what I would imagine a "More Music Like WWFM" album would sound like... This probably applies to the second half of this album - in other words, we could have had a generally darker product if it weren't for Pharrell. I am very thankful for the Light Side, despite the Long Wait we had to endure, but I really like Dark Adam and love speculations about alternative realities

Ok, first thing first - some people warned us the snippets did not really reflect the quality of the final work. SO TRUE! I listened to the snippets a few hours ago and thought they were amazing... NOT EVEN CLOSE to the Real Thing! They managed to cut all the amazing vocal parts from every snippet, and listening to the whole album is one kick after the other!
Now, while I despise JLo, on to my goosies-meter: Got first goosebumps on Underneath and then on Running.
Of course, my ass moved automagically on pretty much the whole first half of the album, as intended by Mr. Executive Producer.
If I may nitpick, I did not think Nirvana needed that kind of percussion. I expected a more "Broken Open"-like treatment. 4 out of 5 for me. I can live with the drums on OOL, but I still prefer the various live versions.
I did not like Kickin In the first time I heard the snippet, although I realize it is a vocal masterpiece with a rare AFL falsetto. But it is growing on me now.
LOVE Cuckoo, Shady, Naked Love, Pop That Lock, Broken English, Underneath, Chokehold, Running: 5/5. Trespassing, OOL: 4.5/5. Kickin In, Take Back, Nirvana: 4/5.
One of the best albums I have ever heard, and I love the variety of styles. For reference, my all-time favorite albums where I don't skip a single song: ELO "Time", Helloween "Keeper of the 7 Keys Part 2", Gamma Ray "Land Of The Free", A-Ha "Foot Of The Mountain". On FYE, I used to skip the title song and Aftermath (until I fell in love with the GNT acoustic version and learned to like the original). No skipping this Era!
